Lot of Bullying and kids are left to suffer and counselor and Principal has no care in the world when brought to their attention. Parents complain about bullying is ignored. Principal does not want to get in touch with parents for any matter.

AWFUL way to many drugs in circulation. Principal has no care in the world when brought to his attention.

Transferred my kids here after Hillside. Great school, actually cares for children and counselors and principals are extremely kind.

Valley View is better than a private school. Great teachers, compassionate educators, all around the best place to learn!

Great school! No complaints. Both of our kids went to Valley View.If anyone has a complaint about this school, it is a personal issue. Do not let them sway you away from this school.

Couldn't be happier with Valley View. The staff and prinicpal Mr. Hall are fantastic. I couldn't say enough positive things about my sons 8th grade English teacher Mrs. Page. You can tell by the way she communicates with the parents and students that she loves her job. I feel the skills that she taught him will help him in high school. Thank you Valley View!

I am an 8th grader at Valley View. This school is amazing, but you should try hard while attending. Try your best to get into all Honors classes, and if you're really smart, you can even take Algebra I in 7th grade like I did. The reason I am suggesting this is mostly because being in Honors classes provides for an overall better learning environment, which will help you further improve in your education. The teachers are great (the Honors ones at least, I don't know about the others but I've heard they're good to), Mr.Hall is probably the coolest principal I've ever had, and the staff are awesome. The only reason I am taking one star away is because of some of the other kids who think they're better than everyone else, but as long as you ignore them and make friends with the right people, you should be fine. All in all, you should definitely choose this school, but try your best.

This is my second year at valley view and it has been a blast for me. The teachers are extremely nice, the new principal is amazing, and I am getting A's in all honors classes. This is a great school for students who want to learn. I'm excited to go to school when I wake up in the morning and I never want to leave. Mr. McCarter and Mr. Greminger are the BEST teachers ever. They are so funny, nice, and just wonderful teachers. I recommend this school to EVERYONE!!!!!!

My daughter just finished 7th grade. She did fantastic with a full load of Honors classes. With the exception of one or two teachers, I found that it was easy to speak with the teachers if I felt my daughter was in trouble. Mrs. Webb (now retired) did a great job of keeping the school in line and her many group phone calls home (and there were many) kept me well informed. In regards to Aeries. I accessed Aeries at least once a day and never experienced an outage, so I'm not sure what the other parent is referring to since it was very stable for me. There is a lot of homework and it can be overwhelming at times, but I've spoken to parents at other schools and it's this way across the board. My daughter will be well-prepared for the demands of high school thanks to the effort put forth by the teachers at Valley View.

This has been the absolute worse year academically for my son. My oldest son went to Valley View a few years ago and although it was not stellar it was infinitely better than this year (my youngest first year). I have been in contact with his teachers and never have the agreed to a face to face meeting although I suggested it more than once. He is literally failing 4 of the 6 classes and I JUST now got the information form the principal as to who his counselor is. The entire school district changed over to Aeries for the grades and homework and yet again tonight I try and log on and it is down AGAIN> The teachers claim to have information and help on their web page. Some do but most do not or have not been updated for months. I understand the cut back but the teachers really do not care. Beware - my son is constantly telling me of drug issue at school - the principal has confirmed this on more than one occasion. If you are Simi please have you child attend one of the other 2 middle schools. Hillside is very good and we will either be heading there or moving to a different district to get out of Simi's

Valley View Middle School in Simi Valley is in need of new leadership. The Homework load is overwhelming and unreasonable. Average time taking four hours and on certain occasions up to 9 hours. I have two children , both were GATE now Honors, both reading at a 12.9 grade level and they are avid readers. My son has graduated from Valley View and is doing quite well at Santa Susana High School in Simi Valley. My daughter is in the seventh grade and is a devoted student. It is impossible for her to complete her english stems. poetry and RHO packets. Plus there are Art requirements in English!! Why?? My son says he couldn't complete them either when he was there. While there are a few really good teachers there, most are below average or are incompetent. Bullying, the schools bullying program is laughable. Both of my intelligent students hate the school. Your children will as well. Poll the student body and you will find this is an accurate appraisal. Mr. Greminger, Mr. McCarter, Mrs. Abdallah, Mr. Dingman, Mrs. Stilson and Mr. Schuster are exceptional educators and save Valley View from being a total failure. Your experience may be different, but don't bet on it.

If I could give a half star I would, based only on they are a building you can send a middle schooler to. When we moved here from out of state I would think teachers and admin would actually make sure my child is adapting. Not even close! He was forgotten within a day, his grades quickly fell and nobody would call me back. I was asking for online access to his grades for over a month, nobody there returns calls or emails!!!! When I did receive it and my child had went from an A to D student in his first 2 months based on 12 missing assignments (all graded in his folder btw). I was furious!!! And the teachers responded "it's the child's responsibility, really??? To make sure he is given credit for graded assignments. The teachers just don't care, when asked a question my child has been snapped at more in the few months here, than in his entire education! Now today they have a jog a thon. If you choose to not raise money you have to run on a longer track and no water! Seriously! Tried at least 10 times to talk to the principal they always bump me elsewhere, never even seen the woman! Take your kids ANYWHERE else, homeschool before you go here!

I'm finding the same issue as the 9-24-13 post- I, too, know my child's short comings and I have always had an open line of communication with teachers to work together, however, I've attempted to contact two of my child's teachers and I get absolutely nothing. I firmly recall every teacher during Back to School night saying "email me, I'll get right back to you". Hmm, maybe if your child is close to perfect do you get a reply. I am trying let my child "fight" his own battles and take responsibility for a lot more communication, but let's face it- he's 12 and this is definitely not yet a strength, however, it is unsettling that some of these teachers will just sit back and watch a child fail, especially in a core subject. It's discouraging as a parent to reach out to the school only to be basically reprimanded and dismissed. Is it a VVMS issue, a poorly funded CA public school issue or a national issue? I don't know but as a parent, I find it to be a pretty personal issue.

Valley View is an outstanding school!!! I'm a 7th grade GATE student and I just love this school!! Mr. Derek Greminger is my favorite teacher! He teaches life science and he interacts very well with me and my classmates! You couldn't have a better teacher! Mrs. Webb is just an AMAZING principal... Sure she's a little strict but that's because she loves her students and wants the best for us!! I recommend this school 100%!!

I attended this school starting in the 6th grade. I was bullied. Several times I brought it up to my councilors only to have them ignore the problem. I was beaten up twice and i recieved the all the punishment. In eighth grade, my friend came to school crying and I gave him a hug before school started. I was given an hour detention and my friend was given a lecture about "wasting his time with girls". The academics were a nightmare for me. I have never been good at math and every year my plea for a tutor was ignored. The dress code is harshly enforced as well. I wore two and a half inch heels and sat in the office for two hours being lectured. Once, when my shirt was "low cut" a teacher said she would either send me to the office or shove tissue paper down my shirt. The only silver lining I found in this school was the drama program. David Dingman is one of the most incredible, talented, and commited teachers you will find in this town. The drama program saved my life and taught me many valuable lessons on several occasions. I do not reccomend this school to anyone, but if you are a performer trapped in Simi Valley, then this is the middle school for you.
