The passion felt from Bergen teachers and staff sets the foundation for students to excel. Teachers and staff seem genuinely excited to see the kids each day, to see them in the halls or cafeteria, to greet them in the morning. That sort of attention carries over into individual kids' learning styles and needs all around. We've been so impressed with them and are so glad our kids get to grow up in an environment like that!

We started with The Bergens in preschool and continued onto elementary with many years to go. The staff and teachers are THE BEST and we've always felt that our kids are getting a great education. Principal Hyde is very approachable and a really great communicator. We feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing school community. Our kids are academically challeged, offered many extracurricular activities and generally just happy to be there!

8 years as a Bergen family with another 6 to go and we are thrilled with our decision to move to a community for the school. Each of our children bring a uniqueness to their learning experience and I have been surprised each year to see how perfectly their teacher adapts to them and their classmates. We have always felt so supported by the administration and encouraged to be involved. It's a great community.

Excellent teaching staff and consistent opportunities for my child to learn. This is our 2nd year at the Bergens and we are so happy. The administration and vibe is excellent!

My two children have had a wonderful experience at Bergen Valley! I have been very impressed with the staff. The principal Kristen Hyde is fantastic at communicating with parents and students. She is very approachable and deeply cares about the students and staff. My kids have enjoyed the teachers they have had. The teachers provide structure and are great partners in ensuring my kids are challenged and learning. I also think the extracurricular teachers, especially art & band/orchestra, do a fantastic job. My daughter has enjoyed art class so much that she attends the art club Mr. Medina puts on after school. I am very happy with the experience my children are having at Bergen Valley Elementary and would highly recommend the school to other perspective parents.

All three of my children attended Bergen Valley. They each had different learning styles and needs (2e, very high achieving and medical needs). We were very impressed with the leadership, teaching staff and overall community. Each student received the support and encouragement they needed to learn, be challenged and thrive. The one time we had a concern the issue was quickly resolved by the teacher.

My youngest attended K-5 all years and navigated a number of factors and needs, including ALP, food allergy, the pandemic, etc. Her experience at the Bergens was exceptional compared to the elementary schools her older siblings attended, which were very good, and her remote class even managed to excel academically during the pandemic. We cannot praise this school, staff and the leadership from Mrs. Hyde enough. My daughter transitioned to middle school very well prepared, academically, socially and emotionally, and as a parent I consistently felt heard and as if my kiddo was in good hands.

Bergen Valley has been a terrific place for my kids. It is a very engaged parent community, with lots of volunteer support and resources for the school. We've been really happy with the teachers (some of the best teachers we've ever had across 3 different schools). The school is big enough to support many different clubs, activities, and activities, but small enough to still feel very comfortable and you definitely will get to know everyone by the time your child goes through the school. This is a close knit community and a very supportive environment for kids! We are glad that we chose the Bergens out of all the local area elementary schools!

The administration believes in "teaching for the test". Very concerned about test scores and school rankings. The recent staff turnover is an indication of the problems at the school. Class sizes are large. Rampant favoritism by the principal as not all students are treated equally with consequences.

The concern isn't for children to learn. The administration is more concerned with test scores. They "teach for the test" and not for learning the material. Time is spent on practice tests. The school is very tied to a business run by a family at the school, The Wild Game. Parent coffee, concert, and parent mixers were all held at the business instead of the school creating a conflict of interest. The PTA spent $50k on a greenhouse instead of a simple water bottle refilling station. The money spent from the PTA fundraisers isn't spent for practical items. Classes are too large. There are other local schools in the area who offer a better learning environment. The school has had vandalism along with theft. Principal Peggy needs to retire. This school needs a new approach along with someone who isn't tied to the community to project their favoritism within the school. Many are leaving this school for Parmalee, RMAE, and Wilmot due to all of the issues at this school. Avoid!!

The main concern for this school are state test scores. Children are viewed as a number on a state test score. Classes are too large.

I have had a good experience thus far. With any school, there are goods and bads. The good far outweighs the bad here.

Fabulous teachers, state of the art amenities and very high parental involvement. Great school all-around!

There is too much focus placed on the children passing the state tests. The classes are very large. We are much happier at a local truly mountain community school, Wilmot. Smaller class sizes at Wilmot as well. The Bergen schools are not effectively teaching due to the large class sizes.

Wow such large class sizes! They are "focused" on testing scores. This school is rated #1 in Colorado?! It's hard to believe!! Months and months are spent prepping for the Colorado testing so that may be the only reason why this school is #1! Some good teachers who will tell you they don't agree with all the test prep. Sadly the large class sizes hinder most students. The school allows children who live 45-60 mins away to come to this school....they won't turn anyone away. Again...all about the test scores!

Large class sizes, poor leadership from the principal down. Some great teachers are held back by the poor leadership and class sizes. Too many students for 1 teacher to manage. I agree with the other comments how rude the aides and office staff are at the school. The school is very focused on test scores above really teaching the students. Better options for your child in the area than this school.

Despite the consistent "10" on test scores, this school has many very serious negatives. The classes are very large, the curriculum is dry and monotonous and many of the aids are demeaning and rude. There are little if any gifted services and there is definitely a focus on teaching to the middle. Our children deserve better!

Positive aspects are great teachers, principal and curriculum. Big negative is that class sizes are too large
