Ohlone elementary is excellent, we’ve had nothing but a positive experience with the school, teachers and education program. Our son’s teachers have always gone above and beyond our expectations. PTA is very active.

Ohlone has been a wonderful experience for my youngster. She loves going to school! The brand new principal’s leadership is inspiring; she brings a contagious positive attitude everyday and has set the stage to build a community where learning can be fun.

The school in safe zoon area, the teachers and parents are so helpful and wonderful. But academically its very poor in all subjects "it's sad". Elementary grade is the foundation for children's successes in the future. The school boards should put their emphasis in restructuring the teaching methods that serve all children's academics levels. My child in a second grade and he still can't read and write as should be.

This is a good school and my daughter loves it. Mrs. Mason her first grade teacher is sweet and kind. She’s an excellent teacher and my daughter loves her class. Moreover, she communicates very well with parents.

Please consider having your child attend Ohlone Elementary. Once upon a time I attended this school as a student and now I am honored to have been given the opportunity to teach at this beautiful, new and modernized campus. Hercules is still my hometown and the diverse, patient staff here care about all of the students. Let us know what your concerns are and we will do our best to assist them.

My daughter attended Ohlone for kinder and I'm happy she ended up Mrs. disbrow's class. Granted we ll have different hopes/expectations for teachers, she is an amazing and dedicated educator. Her style is very aggressive, assigns thick packets of homework, lots of accountability- but this made a huge impacted on my daughter and family. We all pitched in to ensure that she was engaged and kept up with the heavy load of work. And it sure paid off! She is reading and writing at a first grade level. We are so thankful that this was her teacher. The school itself is pretty dates but the new campus opens this semester so I'm sure all the parents are looking forward to that. The new principal is a godsend. She gets it. I saw her in action once and was quite engaging, the students were at attention quickly and she didn't even need to raise her voice. The PTA is a great group of dedicated parents. I will be joining this year! Lots of great activities/events put on by them. Hoping for a similar experience for the first grade or we are moving her!

Ohlone Elementary has provided my son with a great foundation for his education. He has been fortunate to have some terrific teachers who really care for their students and the school. He has flourished and exceeded my expectations with his education. He is now in the GATE program at school which was made possible through the support of his teachers. The new school building will provide the students, staff, and parents with a much needed improvement. The students are excited to be in their new environment and I wish that my son would be able to enjoy it too but he will be attending middle school next year when the new building opens. The dedication that everyone has to this school and the students has made this a wonderful experience for me and my son. Parental involvement is of the utmost importance in a child's education and this school encourages the parents to be active participants in all aspects of the educational process. During the almost six years that my son has attended this school there have been three principals yet the transitions from principal to principal has been as easy as possible. In my son's opinion with each principal the school is improving.

Over the past year we have seen a huge improvement with Ohlone. I think we have the new principal to thank for that. She has been a breath of fresh air and the morale is so much better there now. You can see it with the teachers, and even the secretary and custodians. The kids love her! My son now wants to go school, because he is having fun learning. He loves his teacher and talks about how he's going to give the principal a high five when he sees her. This is big, because he used to fight me on going to school, but now he's excited about going, because of all the fun things they do there now. The teachers seem more caring and the principal really listens to you. I also think parents are doing a really good job too. I don't like the whole volunteer process, but I get why we have to be fingerprinted and all that, and it seems like we have more volunteers this year now too. I'm much happier with the education my child is getting now at Ohlone.

My daughter has attended this school for 3yrs and if this is what public schools are like our children are headed for a big dissapointment. The bullying with my child has not stopped after several episodes where staff is present (recess, lunchroom, classroom. My daughters self esteem and self confidence is very low from the abuse from students and staff that is not doing anything to prevent the bullying that is constant. I moved to Hercules so that my children would be able to attend a descent public school, but I sure have been disappointed in this school.

We entered this school with great hopes for a wonderful learning experience. My child's learning experience is a nonevent on a daily basis. I have tried talking to the teacher, helping in the classroom & talking with the principal. Nothing is changing fast enough, to produce a positive learning experience for the kids. Any first grade student in a certain class is NOT getting a first grade education! If the teacher actually spent time with the students and provided experiences that allowed them to practice skills & discover new things....they would LEARN. How can you test a child on something you haven't taught? Foolishness! This is why people loose hope in public education. They are building a new school and that is great, but if teaching and LEARNING are not happening then that is just more wasted tax dollars. Trust we are already looking for something better, I feel for the students and families who do not have other choices. Please speak up for your child, you are the only voice they have! Their education is urgent. There are positives, the after school program is great, there are parents evolved, but they need to look closer at the academics & national standards.
