The Bird Middle School has a caring dedicated principal that is there before any other of the staff and she answers the phone. Merritt awards are passed out regularly to the student's. The rest of the staff work diligently for every student, parent and each other. The neighborhood is safe and the principal enforces a strict dress code for both girls and boys. This school is anot excellent school! !Thank you for reading this post.

This school is awful I would rate it zero stars but it is not an option. It is not accepting, most of the teachers are disgruntled or incompetent and the french program is awful.

This school first of all is ugly and outdated. There a paper shortage last year as in they could afford to buy more paper for the last month of school. The music program is lacking with incompetent teachers the band teacher is insane and intimidating (half the band ends up quitting) and the chorus teacher is immature and inconsiderate. It is shameful the students are not getting an appreciation of music. The 8th grade math program is lacking to say the least with math teachers who don't take math seriously and leave the students without proper guidance. The principal is fantastic the vice principal has anger issue and is feared by the children and is unapproachable. The main science teacher mrs Conley is overbearing and insensitive. None of the classrooms have working blinds and temperature is freezing cold or burning hot. The Technology class which all students are required to take is a waste of time to say the least. As a preparation for high school it is extremely disappointing. My student as well as most would agree.

I had a great experience at Bird... My daughter transferred from another local community and was new to Bird. She came home each day excited about what she learned. She made some great friends - the very first day - three girls walked home with her from our new neighborhood - they are still friends today! Teachers engaged the children and while the classes were relatively large, I found she received the attention she needed. She participated in extra curricular activities - drama, sports and enjoyed field day each year. We had a great experience and she was well prepared for High School

i have found that if a student is struggling, there is absolutely no effort on the part of some of the teachers to give those students the extra help after school or in school to try to comprehend whatever they are having trouble with. The spanish curriculum leaves a lot to be desired as well. The roof leaks and there are buckets littering the hallways during severe rains.
