Vista is by far the best school in Simi Valley! Teachers and staff go out of their way to make sure all children succeed and do well. My three children have gone through Vista and now that 2/3 are in middle and high school I can see that the fundamentals they learned at Vista are helping them succeed beyond elementary school. I can't recommend Vista enough and we are so grateful our children we able to attend this school.

My child is a current student, she is on her 2nd year and enjoys going to school. Yes there is a lot of homework given, starting 1st grade but all the homework so far is of what was done that day. Some days we breeze through homework because she got it and other days we spend more time because she didn’t get it in class. So far staff have been accommodating when it comes to my child. The school has a very strong PTA and so there is many fun activities for the students all year long. The school is very big in parent participation but don’t make you feel back if you can participate as much as other parents.

A LOT of homework! I am mentally exhausted trying to help my child with her homework every night. It is a struggle. On top of that, I also have to teach her how to write her letters and numbers, because apparently they don't teach and practice that enough in kindergarten. So, now it's my responsibility to do that at home on top of the insane amount of homework for a kindergartener. They're expected to write sentences now in second semester. How is my child supposed to write sentences when she doesnt know how to write ALL her letters? I guess foundations are not important. California schools are a joke!

I am a ex student at Vista I got 3 and 4s in all years but my mom mainly helped me some teachers can be rude and accuse you of wrong doing and do not teach because they take a lot of holidays

Its a great school. I don't have to worry about my kids falling behind and I feel like they are being educated on the same level as private school kids. Homework can be a lot but my kids have adjusted. I feel like there is a slight distance between the school and parents but that's mostly due to school district policies, no longer letting parents on campus after school (without appointment), not providing school schedule until after 5pm before the first day of school. Overall I'm happy and recommend my friends apply for the school.

Loved, loved, loved this school. From the excellent teachers to the awesome kids that attend. Vista felt like one big family for me. We had a wonderful experience.

My child has been at this school for 4 years. I have volunteered every year and have observed classrooms. Learning is rushed and a love of learning is not fostered. The classrooms are crowded (small spaces) and the teachers are obviously stressed. The focus is always on memorization for testing. My child wakes up everyday with anxiety and says that he dislikes school and learning. A LOT of homework is given that amounts to busy work which does not help a tired child retain information. It's been a disapointment.

Both my daughters go to VISTA and we all LOVE this school. The teachers are amazingly dedicated and go out of their way to help the kids. They are so passionate about teaching and it shows in how keen my girls are to learn.

I love Vista! I have been here since 1st grade and I love it! All teachers work with you to help you. The principal is nice. I am in fifth grade and love it. It is a lottery school and is hard to get into if you are not in kindergarten, but I highly recommend Vista fundamental!

This school requires a lot of parent involvement and I think that is why we are successful. The teachers are great! We love it there....the motto is "teacher, parent and student involvement"...it does WORK!

Parent participation makes this school such a success! Of our 3 children one is a Visa graduate and two are still attending. For the most part we have had a lovely experience. Our only criticisms would be their lack of updated classrooms and technology, which is being worked on with much passion. We also had an awful experience with one teacher and our struggling student. Our requests for assistance were met with a swift invitation to leave the school. We did not leave but instead had to become very strong advocates for our child, who is doing well. There are many more positives than negatives about this school. Hopefully some improvement in the areas most reviewers seem to agree upon. Simi Valley needs more schools like Vista.

This school will not help your child if they are struggling. There are no support from teachers or principal. They only honor the successful students. They ignore the ones that struggle and will even uninvite you to change schools. I have friends that are teachers in Simi and they all stated that the teachers at Vista refuse to work harder and help those in need!

My granddaughter has been a student at Vista since kindeergarten. I have been a volunteer since she started school. All of the teachers have been fantastic and really care about the students. What i'm dismayed about is how dirty the classrooms are. I helped one of the teachers this year get ready for the 2012-2013 year and had to wipe down all of the desks inside and out and believe me they were filthy then I cleaned the vent because it has never been done and I doubt if any of the filters have ever been changed. I worry about our childrens health. Their were cob webs all over the classroom why weren't these classrooms thoroughly cleaned over the summer vacation. Also, have you noticed that Vistas grounds are always dirty? How can we all get these issues solved? For this problem I give the school a 0. Thank you.

My son is in 5th grade, and has attended Vista since Kindergarten. He's done exceptionally well and is transitioning into a well-adjusted young man.
