Excellent teachers with wonderful school environment. Voters approved a $45.3 million bond issue that will fund a slew of upgrades to all but one of the district's schools on September 2019. The projects were aimed at easing crowded classrooms and meeting state standards in spaces that date to the 1970s and earlier. Most of the projects are completed. All the school buildings look wonderful with brand new science labs, indoor pool, new classes and gym's.Most of the teachers have masters degree and years of experience. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this community .

This is, by far, the most inaccurate information. Demographics are way off. School is majority black. Majority of the community is low income. I moved from out of state and looked at these ratings and enrolled my children. 4 months in and I'm considering home school. Terrible school. They need more than academic structure. Rutherford needs a police department of their own.

I am a graduate of RHS (year 2000). I also have worked in schools for the past 8 years (urban and suburban) and now feel as though I have a pretty good gauge on public schools in northern NJ. I look back at my experience at Rutherford High School (as well as Lincoln School and Pierrepont School) and am so grateful I am lucky enough to call myself a RHS alumni. Rutherford HS offered great educational opportunities, extra curricular activities, and an amazing sense of camaraderie. The school spirit was and relatively small study body size, allowed for students to feel proud to be a part of a school where people felt recognized as individuals as well as valued RHS students. From the clubs and sports to the array of educational supports and advanced courses, I feel RHS was the perfect HS. The only thing I could possibly add that I considered to be negative was that at the time I was in school there, the population was not very diverse. The student body and staff were mostly caucasian (as am I) however, I feel a more diverse population truly representing the makeup of the tri-state area may have added to my experience. Overall, I am grateful to have been a student of RHS!

The school was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education 2000 and is one of the best public schools in NJ

Excellent school!!!!! Very competitive academics! My child loves attending the high school. Strong math and science programs.
