The recent, distinguished graduation of our daughter Michelle from middle school brought to mind all of the positive experiences that contributed to her success. Among these, surely, was pre-kindergarten at Pinecrest Presbyterian School. Before making any enrollment decision, we visited several institutions, and Pinecrest Presbyterian stood out to us as the best, after all our research and tours.Michelle, in fact, had a great time at Pinecrest Presbyterian. The teachers were loving and very dedicated to their students. They were even attentive to food restrictions that our daughter had at the time, and never made her feel different or excluded. She was happy to go to class every day, and she had a good mixture of fun and educational activities. She made wonderful friends and has great memories. The general ambiance of the school was always very pleasant, including the friendly attitude of the administration and the involvement of the parents. Our younger daughter was also enrolled at the School later on, and had the same positive experiences. To this date, we make a yearly visit to the School, to say hello and keep the memories alive. Our daughter may not have been as successful, if she had not had such a great start at Pinecrest Presbyterian. An early and healthy foundation for a love of learning matters tremendously. We are very grateful for that. Drs. Alina and Jose Ruiz M.D.

Horrible experience. We can’t wait for the school year to be over. If we had more financial resources to go to another school, we would.

Our experience with this school was appalling and resulted in our decision to remove our child after just four short months. We were expecting a school with evidenced-based practices, compassionate and responsive leadership, an inclusive environment that celebrated differences and fostered respect, and educated children through curricula that was developed with a keen eye to modern practices. Instead, children in my child’s class were shamed for poor behavior by having to wear black paper hearts, most of the curriculum consisted of worksheets, art projects that didn’t allow for creativity or individuality (when looking at the walls; we were sad to see that all the projects looked alike rather than allowing for a process based approach to art) and LOL Doll and other coloring sheets. Additionally, we were appalled by the lack of cultural sensitivity at this school and disappointed that the school seemed disinterested in our child’s needs. Fortunately, there are other wonderful VPK providers in this area and other wonderful options for those who are looking for more supportive, educated and professional approach.

PPDS feels more like a family to us. I could not be happier with our experience. The teachers and administration are warm, helpful, and engaging. I am very pleased with my child’s growth and development and the lasting relationships we have formed. My 3 year old started as a Tiny Tot, and we look forward to our second child starting in August.

Pinecrest Presbyterian expels six-year-old for allegedly using the word "gay". The leader of the school Rev. Bovold (Pinecrest Presbyterian) expelled my six-year-old son for allegedly using the word “gay”, without due process or appeal, with immediate effect. My six-year-old doesn’t even know what the word means, let alone understand the sensitivities surrounding it. Rev. Bovold called me belligerent and barred me from visiting the church, because I spoke up for my son and about deeply rooted problems at their school. This episode makes a mockery of Christian values.

This school is absolutely amazing. I have seen a few children with special needs who are very successful at this school, it is only those with aggressive behaviors or other issues that the teachers were not trained for that have been asked to leave. I have had all of my children though this school and have seen what the staff goes through and how wonderful they are. Also, the post about nickel and diming parents is old, everything is included in your tuition. DON'T listen to the couple of parents who may have had a bad experience. It was the best decision I've ever made.

This school kicked my son out of its program for bringing a tablet in to assist with his homework. The principal and Reverend in charge didn’t care that he has a disability and needed the technology to succeed with homework. They never explained any rules against tablets and didn’t even bother to sit down with me as a parent before arriving and their sudden and surprising decision

We absolutely love this school. Our children's academics have SOARED here after their first year. (They previously were enrolled in another location) The school was extremely accommodating during the transfer period and I have nothing other than positive commentary on the teachers, staff and organization as a whole. We have found the school to encourage a loving and caring environment along with high academic standards. Our pre-k 4 son currently has a 1st grade math and reading level. The teachers here are amazing, care about the growth of the children and are very involved in teaching on all levels.

My daughter has recently turned 3 and has been there since August last year. I am very impressed by this school as it is a nurturing, loving school where my daughter has made massive progress at such a young age. We are lucky to have Miss D as teacher for her but I have to say everyone else I dealt with at the school was amazing. I would definitely recommend it.
