Very poor communication. My child had a vision problem that went unnoticed by the school until. When I brought it to their attention they were unaware my child was struggling. The teacher / student ratio exceeds 1:10 as listed. Additionally, there are several students with severe behavior problems - my child has been hit, cursed at and bullied with no intervention from administration.

The academics at Alexander Montessori School are exceptional. The school has highly qualified and experienced teachers who are dedicated to providing the best possible education. The school's curriculum is designed to challenge students, encourage critical thinking and creativity, and foster a lifelong love of learning. In addition the school places a strong emphasis on character development and well-roundedness. This is truly a supportive and nurturing environment that helps children develop into successful, confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals.

My 1 star review is for preschool. Too many students per teacher/TA. One teacher and two teacher assistants for 30 kids of mixed ages(3-6) is not enough. If you have a 3 year old in this program, good luck. Your poor child will be at the mercy of the older kids (who are not being watched bc there are not enough teachers). Empathy is lacking among students and every teacher I have dealt with has at one point bad mouthed the school and director. Do not fall for the gimmicks. You've been warned. Need more proof? Check out their Facebook page for a picture from the 50 year gala. There is a picture with staff and parents and one person is making an extremely offensive hand gesture with the school logo in the background. Seriously? Awful experience and complete lack of professionalism all around.

Perhaps your experience will differ, but it shouldn't: Alexander is a fantastic school and provided a great foundation for our daughter. Yellow Door in particular has been an ideal environment where we've seen our child come alive, with a love of learning, individual expression and sense of wonder of the world around her. We highly recommend Alexander Montessori School / Old Cutler Road Campus and the excellent, caring staff and administrators.

Our child attended Pre-K 3 and 4 at another school. We like the Montessori philosophy and teaching method and the best part for us was how each child can learn and grow at their own pace. During our interview we noticed how every child was involved and focused doing their lessons and how the teachers and staff operated. Needless to say we were very impress. Now that we ve been part of Alexander Montessori since the summer we can tell you it really is a fantastic school. Our child has made so much progress; the difference was noticeable within a couple of weeks. Our child is doing math, reading and is eager to learn and enjoys every moment spent there. The teachers are FANTASTIC, GREAT AND VERY NURTURING AND CARING. They have lots of extracurricular activities for the kids (all ages). All the materials and books are included in the tuition. If you are home reading reviews on this web site please allow yourself the opportunity to visit the school and do your homework before making a decision. The other reviews almost discouraged us from visiting and considering Alexander Montessori; it would have been an enormous mistake.
