My son has flourished at the Learning Prep School. The small classes, focus on a language base curriculum and expertise of their teachers, have had a great impact on my child’s confidence, independence and social-emotional well being.

Learning Prep has helped my son advance significantly in all academic areas. The small class size, student teacher ratios and, the experienced, knowledgeable and caring staff are what make this school great!

Learning Prep School has been a game changer for my daughter! The public school she was in did not have the support to educate her, the way that she needed to learn. Learning Prep School wants the families to be involved and you can choose to be as involved as you want with your child's education progression. Although children come from all over the state to attend Learning Prep School, there is a real sense of community between the parents and staff. I just cannot say enough, about how great this change has been for us!

We know all too well that students with special needs can be overlooked in the public school system, and that not all private schools are created equal. It's not always easy to find a school that means what it says in its advertising and marketing materials; however, now that our son has been a part of the LPS community for over 3 years, we can attest that everything we heard at the open house has been true. The head of school, administration, teaching and support staff are dedicated and have genuine interest in helping each student succeed to the best of his/her ability. We feel blessed to have found LPS and been able to send our son there for his high school years.

Although some years ago, the decision to send my child to Learning Prep was not a good one. Before I made the decision to pull my child out of this school, they learned that my husband and I were divorcing. The divorce was not contentious and our kids were dealing with it fine. The staff thought it was their business to get involved. It was extremely awkward. There were other times that the staff would go out of their way to exaggerate a situation with the kids and create a whole drama filled story that was blown out of proportion. I didn't see any strides in my child's learning while she attended this school. I wish I had left her in our public school's Special Ed program. I did pull her out of Learning Prep at the end of 9th grade but I so wish I had done it sooner. It wasn't worth the years she spent there.

I find that the staff at LPS are understanding and caring. In all the years I have been here I have learned who I really am and have achieved many things.

I had the privilege to attend Learning Prep School from the time I was in fifth grade and until I graduated in May 2019. Prior to Learning Prep School, I was not advancing like that of my peers and continued to fall behind. However, this changed upon my switch to Learning Prep School. I immediately began to improve, both academically and socially. The faculty at Learning Prep are truly some of the most dedicated people I have ever seen. Each day, they ensure that every student’s needs are met. My time spent at Learning Prep School was truly some of the best times of my life. Currently, I am a sophomore in college and am taking a full-time course load of five classes. Strategies and methods taught at Learning Prep School have helped me succeed in this environment, as I made the Dean’s List in the Spring 2020 Semester. Learning Prep School is truly an amazing place and I would not be able to share this success story, had it not been for the school and the selfless faculty.

Our son started 4th grade at LPS in 2010. He came home from the first day excited to have so many new friends. While the students live in communities across Eastern MA, the parent council did a good job providing opportunities for students to get together outside of school. Fast forward 10 years. Despite continuing academic challenges our son passed the MCAS, is an LPS High School graduate (with a dual diploma from our town), and is in his second year at Landmark College (along with several LPS alums). While college is a challenge, thanks to LPS he is engaged in his education and is looking forward to the future. We are very grateful to the teachers, counselors, and staff of LPS for putting our son on the path to realizing his potential.

I would highly recommend Learning Prep School to others. I had an enjoyable experience during my five years at LPS because of the kind and caring staff and the many friendships I formed while there. LPS prepared me well for college and my future. I would not have made the National Honor Society with attending LPS! I am happy and proud to be an LPS alumnus!

If my parents hadn't fought so to get me into LPS, I wouldn't be where I am today. The Hingham public schools did not expect me to graduate from high school but, they didn't do anything to help me reach those expectations either. Learning Prep did in one year what the Hingham schools couldn't in 7 years, get me on pace with my "typically functioning" peers in reading. By the time I was a senior I could handle college level reading. I was also more independent, I had a better handle on social situations, and I was so much happier. I graduated 16 years ago. In that time I have graduated from college, working with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, lived independently in Somerville, Jamaica Plain, Brookline, and now Dorchester. I got married in November, and my husband and I bought our first home last year. I am on the newly formed Alumni Executive Council, which meets quarterly to discuss event planning for our fellow Alumni, and development for the school. Thank you, LPS for all you did for me!

Awful. Can I give 0 stars? The very few helpful people earned the star. Just look at my other reviews to see why I hated this place. The work was way to easy.

LPS has been a game changer for my son both academically and socially. He has friends, is able to participate in extracurriculars and loves school. It's changed his life.

We had a very bad experience with this school! Administration operates in a very poor manner. Can't believe this program still exists!

Tired facilities, run down as they get. The administrators are really bad and don't really know how to run a school. The school was almost shut down by the state a few years ago and perhaps it should have been. It could have save many parents some time and money

Just saw this review on this school that my son attends and I'm not sure what this person is talking about but they must have the wrong school. My son has been attending there for the past 4 years and has gone from the elementary middle school to the high school and the staff and administration are wonderful! Very attentive to the needs of the children and I am always called for the slightest issue my son may have. Since the new director has taken this schoo over it is a breath of fresh air!!! The school looks and feels like an actual school not a parocial school. My son has learned more in the last 4 years here then he ever did in the public schools. IThe current director should be commended for her efforts in turning this school around in the short amount of time that she has been there. KUDOS to her, her staff and administration for the amzing work that they do with these kids on a daily basis. Keep up the amazing work that you do!!!!!

What a dump. The Director has no idea what she is doing and hires personal friends to do jobs they are not qualified to do. The CFO that works there got fired from his last job for unknown reasons and basically now sits around the Learning Prep School and does nothing. I had to take my child out of that disaster. I am still friendly with many teachers that taught my child and they are all just waiting to find better jobs before they leave.

Learning Prep is a complete joke. I was enrolled at this school for 9 years until 2012. And I'm very thankful to have left. The school preaches to have a 'safe-learning environment' for learning disabled kids when it's more like a hugbox that restricts student advancement. Even on IEPs it's apparent that they want to keep you within their limitations because they're very overprotective when accommodating your differences. The curriculum is watered down and never offers students a deep understanding of subjects. Come senior year, they don't care about giving students comfortable college transition, which hit me hard when I transferred to public. They instead focus your years around work study. They have gone through two administrations, each unforgiving and failing to correct their corrupt program. Instead, hunger for your tuition to stay alive and half of those funds don't go to improving aforementioned conditions. Along with no sports, engaging extracurriculars or electives, Honors, or addressing student feedback, Learning Prep School is a scheme ran by a totalitarian administration that cares only for themselves. With 240 students and financial trouble, they won't last long

This school now has only 240 students. It has suffered through 2 directors in 2 years who have no right running a school. I have filed numerous complaints with the Department of Education and, with many other parents, have removed my student from this terrible school.
