I have volunteered at Whittemore for 6 years so far. It's a wonderful school. I pass by or go into classrooms regularly and always see kids who are deeply engaged in their work. The classrooms are welcoming, well behaved, and busy learning. The hallways are quiet and orderly. As a former teacher I know the quality of staff required to make this atmosphere a reality. The teachers and staff here are amazing. It's a great neighborhood school. No one should be reluctant to send their children here.

My family and I just love this school, the teachers, office staff, custodians, cafeteria staff all work together and make this school what it is a safe, happy environment for all to play and learn. Kuddos Whittemore School you are the best!!!!

I love the community, the people are friendly. I feel Whittermore school is one of the best elementary schools in Waltham.

I do not know who came up with an idea of ratings schools. But it is a very bad idea. My child has been going to this school for 4 years now and I do not have any issues with the education he received so far. He is doing very well.

Like other commenters have said, a school is so much more than just ratings. What the numbers on this website don't show is all the work that is being done behind the scenes. I know for a fact that Whittemore students outperformed the top ranked elementary schools in Waltham last year on their MCAS in some areas. I also know that progress from grade to grade has been outstanding. If this trend continues, I fully expect Whittemore's official ranking to rise in the coming years. I was really nervous to move into this neighborhood because the school is ranked so low. However, my son is thriving there. He might only be in kindergarten, but I have no hesitation about him continuing in this school or my daughter joining him at Whittemore in a couple more years. The staff are amazing. The principal, Ms. Herzog, is truly outstanding and is so accessible to the students. My son knows he can go to his teacher, the principal, or the assistant principal with any questions he has. Whittemore is truly an amazing community. If you are considering moving into the area with school aged children, I trust you will not be disappointed.

My daughter attends Kindergarten at this school and I am pleased with her progress. She has an awesome teacher and couldn’t be more happier. Rating numbers aren’t the whole picture. Don’t rule out a school base on its rating.

I´m happy to have my kids in this school. Numbers don´t say everything about a school.
