As a former teacher I wouldn't recommend anyone to move into the neighborhood where the school is located. The current school principal is not friendly. She stays in the office most of the time and the results of her leadership reflects in the schools overall state report. The prinicpal has a history of bullying staff, students and parents. She is vindictive in nature. The 2024 CCRPI reports they even sunk lower than last year 2023. Last year 43% of the kids met the content mastery according to the state testing results and this year only 41% met the mastery. The leadership is the reflection of the low scores. The morale at the school is below zero. Thank God the school is on the official list where parents can qualify for a 6,500 grant to send their kids to affordable private schools. If I had a child attending there I would definitely pull them out!!

Terrible experience dont send your children here. All teachers here aren't bad ones there are a few that genuinely love kids and teaching them. Some teachers can be heard screaming at the kids in unnecessary and very threatening tones. They cuss at the kids, tell them they dont care about their job etc. They won't contact you if your child is failing tests or their class you only find out when the teacher decides to upload all of the students work to parent portal 2-3 days before progress/report cards come out! They wont help with after school tutoring if your child falls behind the teacher is always "too busy" to help the student. When the teachers are out of line the principal covers for them. They are just a mess here don't send your child to this school

My child came from another school behind for her grade level. Rock Chapel set us up with a game plan to keep her on track and my child became a honor roll student all year! Her reading and math improved beyond our expectations. I love the staff and am thankful for them!!!! And the principal is hands on and is not afraid to get involved and you do not see that to often in my opinion.Maya Bevard PennantA proud Rock Chapel Parent!!!

My son has attended this school since the 1st grade and I have inquired about his performance since day one. I recently had a meeting with his teacher about his grades and his teacher refused to show me his test scores. They were under a pile of assignments and she would have to "search through those papers to find them." Remind you, this was pre-scheduled meeting and as an educator I would expect for her to have all of her data ready to justify his grades. I also asked what could I do to at home to assist him with his understanding of math and reading (what should I focus on at home). There was little advice given. Though I knew just what I should do, I wanted to see what she would say. This teacher strikes me as person who is not happy with her career choice or where she works. My son will be pulled from this school and placed in a Gwinnett County Public School. I advise you to go to open enrollment of magnet and theme schools in the beginning of the year because the teachers at this school are unprofessional and they seem to not like their career choice. I only say this because when I walk in a school and see a group of teachers standing in the middle of the hall gossiping and bashing a student; you must have no respect for yourself, the student, or your place of employment.

My son attends this school for kindergarden and 1st grade. My daughter attends pre-k. Staff are friendly tho I didn't care for his kindergarten teacher she seemed too young and short patienced with the children. My sons first year of school with her was miserable for him, he dreaded going almost every morning. Education wise they are alright. They focus alot on reading, so you'll have to homeschool your child with math if you want them to be above average. The principal was very attentive last year,this year not as much. They keep changing the bus times,drivers etc. Yesterday the school dismissed students almost 30 minutes early, the bus driver let my kids out at the bus stop alone. My kids told the driver no one was there for them yet, he told them they had to get off the bus. My 5&6 year olds walked home alone. The school never called or emailed to say they were letting out early. No problems with my daughters teachers but I will say I taught her how to write her name, numbers, address etc. aside from this she hasn't learned much from what I can see. I don't think I can do another year here.

As a parent coming from private school to public, I was very concerned with the amount of care that could be given to my first grader. Rock Chapel (Mrs. Hudson & Mrs. Walker) have welcomed my son with open arms! They have kept in constant communication with any of my questions or concerns, helped my son adjust to public school and it's schedule and just made our transition from private to public smooth. I appreciate the open door policy they both have as well as the Counselor & Principal have. This school is improving and completely begins with PARENT involvement with a child's education. The school's can't do it alone. So with this being said, you get out of the school what you put into it. These reviews on here are sometimes written by parents who expect to just drop of their child and the teacher performs magic over you child. Teachers are PARTNERS with Parents and at the school that is what SUCCESS comes from. Without the PARENT involved don't expect your child to excel. I don't mean to preach, but it is what it is.

Our child is in PreK at Rock Chapel so we are very new to the school. I cannot share a huge amount of feedback of the staff as a whole but I can say this- the PreK teacher, Ms. Williams is awesome!!! We've been very happy with the way she helped our son adjust to being in school. She was voted Teacher of the Year this year and it is well deserved. Even before we enrolled our son there, we heard great things about her. We have not been disappointed. The principal seems very professional and is very visible and accessible. I also like that when we call the school, the phone is answered in a very professional and friendly manner.

Rock Chapel School is a Great School where children feel safe and are constantly engaged in the learning environment. Mrs. Jennings is a Great School Principal who cares about my child.
