This school is rapidly going imploding with their horrible response to the COVID virus. Their remote schooling was implemented poorly for 2020-2021 and they actively tried to embarrass and ridicule the remote learners by facing the camera and tv on the other children so that they were on display for the class to see as some strange kid.During the recent BOE meeting for 2021-2022 school year, I was horrified. Every parent that spoke was fiercely against the state's mask mandate and it was clear as day the pressure they were putting on the district's physician to permit a local option that would not require masks.Darien is a horrible city in that it is filled with horrible people that not only support the right-wing fascist movement in the US and wear it with a badge of honor.Ask yourself, would you want your child being taught in a school that rejects science?

This is our 2nd year at Tokeneke and couldn’t be happier with the teachers, education and principal/Vice Principal. All are amazing and truly care about the children and families. We moved here from NYC and so glad we did!

Obviously this school is one of the best in the state, as is every school in the Darien district, however we had a negative experience here compared to some of the other elementary districts in town. In short, there is a lot of nanny parenting going on with dis-involved or "fake involved" parenting. Also, to hear elementary kids seriously comparing one another's ski houses in Aspen or Switzerland to their villas in the south of France is a little worrisome, but its really the parents that elevate this issue. The teachers were great here and the education is stellar, but the population that sends their kids here can be unbearable unless you're coming directly from the Upper East Side (and many do). If you know this going in then it might not be so bad, just make sure your kid sees the real world every once in a while.

Bottom line on top --there is a gap in the Great Schools scoring technique. Tokeneke Elementary is at least two years behind the curriculum of our child's former school. Example: as of September 9, 2016, in 4th grade math, they are working on addition and subtraction estimation. Our child mastered that in 2nd grade! So, if you are moving to this area and have children, understand that you will need to look into either private school options or invest in extracurricular programs that prepare your children to avoid their shock of a sudden vertical learning curve as they move forward along their educational path. Moving from out of state, we utilized "Great Schools" to help us decide what area of CT to move to. Great Schools gave Tokeneke a wonderful score and everyone we spoke towith said Darien has a great school system. So, despite the homes in Darien being extremely overpriced, we decided we would bear the cost to ensure our child was in a good school district. Although we find Darien a charming little town, we have found that the Tokeneke Elementary School has a sub-par curriculum.

District recently was found to violate IDEA law. Do not move here if your child has special needs.

This school has very nice kids and teachers. Bullying is an issue. I am a 5th grade student and i am saying this. Over all, i love this school.

Parental involvement is the key to success at Tokeneke Elementary school. In the classsroom parental involvement and a strong dialogue between parents and teachers contribute to an environment of high student achievement.

The school is just simply a pleasure to be part of. The faculty, parents and student body all work hard and create a very welcoming environment. LOVE IT!

Great School with some wonderful teachers, awesome principal and equally if not more awesome assistant principal. The personlized care for the students is worth noting. The sports, arts and music departments are wonderful as well. Overall - its proving to be a wonderful supportive environment for my child.

Beautiful, light-filled and state-of-the-art new building opened January 2008. The school administration and teachers are terrific throughout. There is a highly welcoming atmosphere to attending families - great opportunities to volunteer and meet other parents. My kids have really thrived.
