Where do I even begin, I can't tell if this was solely on the students who created this negative experience for me during my time at Roton. The building is old, I know they painted the walls and stuff to make it look better, but there were times when our rooms were deemed unsafe due to extreme heat in the summer/spring, this is not on Roton's administration part, but rather the schools district. Roton's student population has been increasing each year, which there is a lack of accommodation of classrooms for the population increase. They cut the art room in half to put the health room in there, my high school classes are 2 times bigger than the current Roton art room. Some of the teachers were inappropriate towards the students, which the Roton administration needs to take a closer look on their teachers' unprofessional behavior. The teachers are micromanagers, they reprimand you on small things that wouldn't be considered an issue in high school. Student safety sucks, they barely did anything when I was bullied as a student at Roton. The vaping problem was getting worse during my time at Roton, and probably still happening at Roton, which sucks for students at the age. There is a ton of fights, fights every week, compared to the high school near Roton. It's a hit or miss with the Guidance Counselors, they kept changing my counselor each year, I only liked one of them. They seem to not care, and when they do, they handle situations poorly always, un-empathic to what your saying, always blaming it on hormones and not concerned. My grade was so rude, they are better now in High School, but so much unnecessary drama. Honestly if I were a parent, I would unenroll from Norwalk Public Schools during my child's middle school years, and enroll them into a local private school or Roger's in Stamford, and then enter them in Brien McMahon for their high school years. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL IF YOU DON'T WANT YOU OR YOUR CHILD LEFT TRAUMATIZED.

Not what is expected. The reviews and ratings are completely off. there is no connection between what school ratings are there and what kids expereince. Cannot understand if the kids are segregated on economic levels in the 2 houses. It's not very clear. Child says all the hispanic kids are in one house and white kids are in other house. Am shocked if this is true.

Caring and attentive staff. Many different opportunities for all types of students including languages (Mandarin, Japanese), music, art, academically talented. Large emphasis on social emotional learning. Overall a very positive experience for my kids!

Would not recommend this school unless it is convenient for your child.(1) The teachers do not respect the students NOT ONE BIT! Bullying is a very serious thing in this school because It either gets passed unnoticed or ignored.(2) Most teachers Make students do more homework than there is classwork and they are VERY Demanding from you.(3) They Lie about IEP(Individualized Education Program). They say your not a special ed student when there is a special ed instructor and special ed coursework.(4) Learning differences, This school is not very effective when it comes to learning differences, but there are dedicated teachers that do help with that.(5) Leadership, There is little to no leadership, the school is like a literal rebellion. When students get in trouble the school counsel is useless, all they do is ask you what happened and call your parents because the counsel here do not know how to cope or handle a situation by themselves. If you ever want to talk to the school counsel about anything going on at home, DONT! Because once you say or confess anything they just call your parents and tell them everything right behind your back.

We are currently very happy here. We have been able to experience some of the great programs at this school and the dedicated teachers. It is also very refreshing to be in such a progressive environment where the emphasis is always on the kids and always assessing what is being done and how it is going. It is not a set and forget environment. We truly hope it continues in this path.

Middle School is a tough transition for most kids but I feel that my 6th grader has been supported and she is enjoying her new school. I like that they offer advanced math, artistically talented and gifted and talented for those who want to push themselves. I have found that all her teachers have been very helpful with ensuring they are consistent with implementing her 504 plan. I love how energized the PTA is to modernize the school facilities and bring fantastic programs and opportunities to the school that are accessible to all students no matter their financial situation.

We have had an excellent experience at Roton! My child has found the work to be challenging and stimulating. Teachers are kind, enthusiastic and engaging and are willing to go out of their way to help. There are so many extra activities to join from languages such as Mandarin and Japanese and music including band, orchestra, and chorus during the school day, to after school activities including Lego League, Math Olympiads, and Debate. The school has truly exceeded our expectations!

I came to this school from a private school and was expecting this school to be very good due to it being the best school in Norwalk. At the beginning of the school year it seemed like the school was handling everything pretty well, but that didn't go on for too long. They started to lie about my IEP, and when I started to get bullied they didn't do anything about it. I once was getting bullied in one of my classes so I wanted to switch my schedule. The problem was that the school counselor told me that a special ed teacher/aid needed to be in all my classes because it said so on my IEP. Then in one of the IEP meetings the school told my parents that it is not on my IEP that a special ed teacher needs to be in one of my classes. Once the school couldn't handle the bullying and sometimes not even believe me, it got really bad. My parents were told in one of the IEP meetings that they will start having a monitor to monitor the bullying at lunch and recess. They actually lied about that, and instead of having a monitor, they stopped letting me to go to recess because they didn't have a monitor. I am now out of this school and I am so happy about that. If your child does not need any help academically or socially, then it is the perfect school for that, but if a student gets bullied and needs a lot of help then it is not the right school for that.

I currently have an eighth and a sixth grader at Roton Middle School. They are well and appropriately challenged in the Academically Talented, Artisically Talented, Orchestra and Advanced Math programs. My daughter is enjoying Mandarin Chinese, too. High praises for many teachers and their guidance counselor who found them a fantastic volunteer program after school. Roton is a small, well run, caring school. Middle school can be tough, but my kids are happy and safe here.
