For the right kid, this school is amazing. There is a wide variety of activities and courses, the facilities are outstanding, and the academic expectations are high.

When we moved to Darien from New Jersey, we walked in blindly, without knowing what to expect from the school and community. I have two kids that are currently juniors in high school, and even though they were concerned about the new environment, they really liked how attentive school staff and classmates are. They participate in AP classes and were able to keep their grades up.I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who wants a quality education and a good environment for their children.

This school was one of the worst experiences of my life. I got bullied and whenever I brought it to someones attention, they shrugged it off because my bulliers were doing extremely well in sports and they didn't want to affect their athletic careers. I played lacrosse here, and it was the only important thing to the school. My academics were put aside and were under appreciated. I went to dhs for freshman year, but then got out of here as soon as I could. The kids are rude, entitled, brats, and the teachers have no clue how to deal with them. The diversity in this town is so appalling, and I don't know why anyone would want to send there kid here.

Besides our lack of school spirit and lack of diversity, I think DHS is an amazing school. And it has a lot to do with the teachers. Yes there are some teachers that are strict and pile on the work, but most of them are really great. I can honestly say that I loved all my teachers including the ones this year that I barely know yet. I know I can go to them to talk about anything, and I think they do a terrific job at relating with the students and making classes fun and interesting. Our sports teams are unbelievable (except for maybe boys basketball- sorry guys). And we have so many different clubs that it's impossible for you not to fit in anywhere. And about the diversity thing, I know it looks really bad how 96% of our school is white, but I don't necessarily think that makes the students discriminate against other races. And in my core friend group (8 people), we have heights from 4"11' - 6"0', races from Black to Asian to Italian to German to Irish, and religions from Mormon to Catholic to Presbyterian to Atheist. My friends and I are very diverse and so I think I've personally been affected by the "Darien Bubble". I just know that I love it here :)
