It's quite concerning to note the demeanor and approach of the school's principal. On numerous occasions, she has appeared frazzled and seemingly overwhelmed. What's more distressing is her apparent lack of warmth and compassion, which, unfortunately, seems to be a representation of the school's broader environment. When it comes to parent interactions, one would expect a sense of collaboration and understanding, but my experiences have been the opposite. There's a noticeable absence of helpfulness or a collaborative spirit. The leadership of a school plays a pivotal role in setting its tone, and as it stands, there's much left to be desired at Rogers. It's my hope that these issues are acknowledged and addressed for the betterment of the students and the school community as a whole.

School is very unfair when it comes to the "have and the have nots" everybody in the middle is just forgotten about. Principal is not on her game. Brings a dog to school daily with kids who may have allergies/ fear of animals!?! Also, there are no consequences for the kids who would fall into the "have" category. Parents are constantly required to purchase additional shirts (outside of uniform cost) for extra $$. If you don't buy a shirt you are told that you can not participate in activity- its a public school how can you mandate purchases? Some teachers are actually pretty good but some get recognition bc they are in the principals pocket and don't deserve the praise. School is horrible about returning phone calls.

rats crawl around in the classrooms. bathrooms flood. sports teams suck, they only choose the 8th graders because they feel bad that its their last year, but the younger kids with talent will get rejected because its not their last year at the school. they loose to every school they play against because they don't practice enough. vhs (virtual high school for the higher 8th grade class), is so pointless. you have to do tons of work over the weekends, and over breaks, and the worst part is that it doesn't even benefit you for high school, (no high school credits which is what the students were told). Straight A students even failed to keep up with that class. I wouldn't recommend it. the time and money spent and put into vhs, could be used for better causes. also, if a spoiled rich kid does something against the rules, they can get away with barely any punishment if their parents pay the school enough. also if you threaten to sue the school and your mom is on the pto, they might put you in a higher academic class. school was aware of bullying and cyberbullying among students, and turned a blind eye in fear of legal pursuit. also, to add onto bullying, there have been many times where the victims were to scared to confess, because they knew that the bullies would not get any punishment, because of the their status. it is the same kids who's parents get them out of every situation, even when it is a child's job to pay the consequences for their actions, that feel like they have

A strong word of caution: don't be deceived by Rogers "reputation," its status as International Baccalaureate or the difficulty of getting into this interdistrict lottery school. I heard from other parents that they had high expectations because of all the buzz about the school but those expectations were not met. There is much truth to that. It's not a bad school, but it's no better than most Stamford district schools for elementary and middle. The faculty and administration are riding on the school's laurels. Teachers are just your average public school teachers -- don't seem to be particularly energized or dedicated. It's very big and can be disorganized. For example, if a teacher is on leave, there is not a clear plan or consistent substitution, nor good communication to parents. Communication is a persistent problem.

My son went here from Kinder to Grade 8. I must say that academically, they are at par with other schools. They have good practices to ensure the students are able to understand the subject and each of the teachers have their method and approach to ensure the teachers learn. However, I think there can still be improvement and I think the leaders should ensure that is pushed to their staff to ensure consistency of practices among teachers. That said, my comments on the school leadership are below:1. The Leadership of the school (Principal, Asst Principal etc) should be able to provide direction that teaching standards has to be followed at a certain extent. A process followed by 1 teacher if effective should be adopted by other teachers and should be imposed by the Principal. They are lacking at that.2. The Principal should be an example to all her staff members. She's very ineffective because she does not have standards properly imposed and lack the direction to her staff; in effect, everyone do not know what they have to do to address concerns when things are raised to her attention.

Rogers is a great school, academically, with a diverse student body and dedicated teachers. We are happy to have the opportunity for our children to study there. That being said, if you are looking for a school that fosters a sense of community and a parent-involved approach to learning, this is not it. Direct, schoolwide communication from the principal and vice-principal to the parent community are non-existent and the school can feel nebulous, simply a structure where our children to each day. This is very different from our last school where there was clearly a sense of community and a place for families at the table and strong, encouraging communications from and with school leadership. Still a great school but....

moved my kid here because i didn't like my local public school (darien). here the teachers are GREAT, there is extra help for kids, before and after school care for parents who work and extracurricular activities. teacher really care about the students. the diversity is fantastic. wish they would expand to high school.
