Conifer High School has been a phenomenal environment for our son to learn academically and socially. He is challenged during class as well as in the clubs and sports he has chosen to be involved in. He knows that if he needs additional help he can turn to any of the teachers or staff for additional instruction or coaching. He also knows that his mental health is valued and when stress creeps in (as it does for all high school students) he has a network of people available to help him out. The staff knows every student and maintains high academic and ethical standards. Issues that arise are addressed immediately in a fair and equitable manner. I can honestly not imagine a better atmosphere for a student to succeed!

The only reason this school sits above the state average in career readiness is because they force students to constantly make 30 year life plans. They do this with pages of surveys that the counselors force students to complete, as well as their flattering “capstone” project for seniors. This adds unnecessary stress and peril to a students mental well being, something they claim to strongly advocate for. The dysfunctional environment created by the students as well as the “blameless” teachers remains unchecked.

Conifer is not a bad school, it has amazing staff, and they put a lot of effort towards the students to help them excel. High school is hard, and it has the ups and downs. Some of the students don't take their classes seriously, and there was a drug problem there. I was there for my freshman and Sophomore year. I personally did not fit in, but I got an amazing education from Conifer, and the staff takes good care of their students! I personally am glad I moved, but I grew up in suburbs so I like bigger schools, Conifer is a pretty small school compared to what I grew up around. Also the sports aren't that bad, its focused more on education then sports, but they do their fair share of both! Good luck Lobos!

This school is a WOW. The principal and staff are amazingly engaged, enthusiastic and creative. This especially in light of the current dismal state of public school funding in Colorado. The principals leadership is very insightful. Opportunities for improvement are targeted based on quantifiable and well substantiated research and then tracked for progress and effectiveness. Their goal is to ensure that all kids are challenged and college ready whether they are planning to go in that direction or not. Kids are treated as adults, given responsibility and coached and mentored to make good choices. Academic emphasis is very strong. Parent involvement is surprisingly low (PTA, etc.) especially given the success overall. I believe that says a lot about the commitment and enthusiasm of the staff. Diversity is encouraged and supported with a strong effort to give kids lots of options to pursue their passions. With Colorado's dismal public school funding, they have worked very hard to maintain options and programs that allow all kids enrichment while at the same time keeping very high academic standards. All kids take the 4 core classes (Math, LA, Science, SS) all 4 years.

I graduated from this school, I will say the staff for the most part is great. However be wary of the lifestyle choices of the students search the Internet about drugs in conifer high you will pull up a few hits at least. This school was notorious for drugs when I went just FYI.
