WWHS has a an undeserved bad reputation. Like all high schools, there will be varied types of personalities for teachers, parents, and students. Everyone wants the best for the students above all at WWHS. They have actively sought out innovative educational programs to help students achieve their academic goals. Good school producing highly effective leaders.

My oldest son graduated in 2012 second in his class. I would have argued with anyone who said you couldn't get a decent education at Winton Woods back in 2012 but unfortunately I can't do that today. The direction they are taking this schoo defies common sense. They started a program called AGS (Academy of Global Studies) around 2011. In a nutshell the kids are supposed to teach each other then they do a project and present it to teachers, other students, business people etc. It's called project based learning and the teachers are facilitators and the students are teachers. I find that a horrible way to learn but we had the option to stay in the traditional school side. Fast forward to 15-16 school year. They changed the traditional school to a program which they called New Tech Academy. We found this out a few days before school started. Needless to say I was upset. We are 6 months into this way of teaching and it is RIDICULOUS! It is a program called New Tech Network. Again, it is projected based learning. The kids learn it themselves then have to teach their classmates. As crazy as this seems I am not making this up. The teachers are called facilitators. They don't teach the material they are there if the kids are stuck or have an issue. What the facilitators do to help is ridiculous too. If one of the kids isnt doing anything they have to meet with the facilitator and tell them what they did to try to get the student to work after several of these meeting they get to "fire" their classmate. So since the teachers can't get these kids to work let's make the students try and if they still won't work let's make the students "fire" their classmates. This is the craziness our administration feels is the best way for our kids to learn. Why do we have to change the whole way of teaching just to accommodate the kids that aren't doing well? Because the majority of the kids aren't doing well. So if teachers can't make them learn by lecturing the material to them like every other school district lets give them a fun and exciting way of learning by not teaching them- let them teach themselves! So the kids who want to learn struggle to teach themselves and then have to teach the kids the teachers couldn't. What person in their right mind would think this is a great way of learning. Please bring common sense back to our school district!!!!

I learned so much from the teachers at this school. Even though I was a racial minority, and was out-casted because of it, I still made it to #4 of my class and graduated with honors.

The school is a joke. On the outside it looks perfectly normal, especially the football field. What I know to be true on the inside is that the structure is falling apart. Even though there is a dress code for uniforms here, some rules simply don't apply. When you get the handbook about the dress code I suggest you throw it in the trash. Students are allowed to wear their pants down below their butts. The school has a bad reputation and deserves it.

I feel this school district is amazing because it gives me, as a student, to explore the world in many different ways. I had the chance to travel to China with the band and in high school I don't get a lot of chances like that. I have amazing teachers that care about every single child. And in the comments that I've seen this school doesn't get enough credit for how amazing it is. I've met people from so many different cultures and all students are accepting. If you're looking for a place to fit in there's one for you here. And we'll welcome you with open arms. I'm very proud to be a warrior and I hate seeing all the trash on here about my school, every school has crap to deal with. It's how we deal with it that matters...

I went to winton woods myself so I felt that my children would get a great learning experience here as I did! Boy was I wrong! I am actually considering filing a lawsuit against winton woods city schools. My son who is in one of the elementary schools was reprimanded by his substitute teacher for turning in his work wrong five times. The fifth time he went to turn it in the teacher put her hands in his face because she was fed up with him coming up to her desk! I have went to the superintendent on this matter and the principal and they all seem to beat around the bush on this matter. Along with the fact that none of them have a clue on anything that is going on with my sons education. I wouldn't recommend this school district to any parents with any children with learning disabilties the staff there are not trained correctly.

Our High School has a program that has a focus on Electronics and exploring the STEM -( Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology) concept. Our Robotics Educator - Ms. Smith is an expert in this area and a blessing to our children at Winton Woods High School

WWHS is one of the most unique schools in this country. It has a program called Academy of Global Studies, where you learn real-life skills in a diversified global environment. The connections it establishes with overseas schools are amazing.

winton wood high school If your child has a learning disabilities this is not the place for your child i believe that they think that kids with disabilities are just bad kids they told me that they did;nt have the staff to help me .and if i did not like it then take him home and teach him my self- my child need help he has the right to school to he has some disabilities.

Winton woods is a good school, it's just way students act. It's mostly an all black school, and some call it gehtto. Not all of them act out but a majority do.

I am a student attending winton woods high school, and all I see is differences and racial boundary and conflict between student, and racial profiling against student from teachers. They try to pry money and funds out of students and parents by using madatory trips and uniforms, (which is a joke might i add) then the funding is wasted on its sports programs, instead of academic curriculum and the arts. If theres any smart decision a student or parent could make; its not going to this school. I am so glad i switched to Scarlet Oaks.

I graduated from Winton Woods High School just last year (2010), and it is not taking on the mold of the typical urban community school. I attend Miami University in Oxford, OH, and I am an education major, and I'm concentrating on schools with an urban setting. For those who think WWHS is "Urban", would you please tell me your definition of "urban" so I can easily inform you of your ignorance? I graduated at the top of my class, and there is a strong emphasis in academics, extra-curriculars, and community service at WWHS. They want to cultivate a world class education by making well-rounded students. academic talents are great, yes, but WWHS tries to bring out the best in everyone, not just their book smarts, because that's what makes people stand out. Being just a bookworm isn't all that excites colleges. They want to see the GPA and the extra activities. It makes you looked like a balanced, model student, and this is what WWHS staff try to promote every single day with all of their students. Get your head out of the clouds people!! Don't try and defame the reputation of Winton Woods because the students are told to explore ALL their interests and encouraged to BE THEMSELVES!

When I graduated in '01, the school had a lot of problems, but nowhere near the disorder which exists now. I do feel I received a good education, and I did well in college as a result. However, the school is beginning to fit that mold of the urban public school with problems it has tried to distance itself from. There is too much emphasis on specific athletics, and not so much the arts, in which there exists great choral, band and dramatic programs. Parents are not being listened to, and many of them are teachers in the district. I fear the future of this school, big time.

Winton Woods is not equipped to take care of students with learning disabilities. They also do not respect the opinion of the parents. If your child is not and A student do not send them to WWMS. I now home school my child because we live in WW school district.
