This school could be great but the way the kids are allowed to be mishandled is ridiculous. All of the kids who suffered during the covid year who struggled were forced to go to summer school because the entire school wasn't on one page on what to do when kids missed for a plan they put in place. That in my opinion was handled poorly. Can you imagine being a kid with a disability and has that happen. Also, the counselors are great when they are in our face with our kids but to hear reports of them being nasty because they wanna converse ids ridiculous as well. I thought they were there to help the students, not be useless and a burden whenever the students need help. I'm not just talking about the top of the class or favorite students I am saying for all. Also, race is still a huge issue in this district. The lines of Colerain and Northwest are being drawn over and over. That wouldn't be an issue either but the privileged side of the district wants nothing to do with the not so privileged people. I didn't just make it u. In the last few years we have dealt with the racial issues. In and out of the school. We also have seen new faces be brought in to help with it (I commend this for trying for sure). The fact that the suspension rate for black and brown people is sooooooo high as compared to the white students makes me wonder what the makeup of the faculty and staff are as well. That matters just as much. It's ridiculously higher, even for children with disabilities! Outrageous. Now the school is trying to push more kids to walk to school because they don't want to just pay for busses and noone wants to work part time hours split up throughout the day, but they ignore all of the dangers that our children have to go through. There aren't enough sidewalks, there isn't enough street lighting, and there are too many kids who have come up missing too close to home to feel comfortable with the kids walking. To know that the option is to miss is crazy as well. If the buses don't come the kids have to miss school, AND they charge you for it as well because the state has rules too so miss enough and they're citing you to court too. In conclusion the school from our experience hasn't been much better than average in much, but they do a great job of making sure you don't get into the building, they do a tremendous job of keeping it clean, and the communication is mostly on point. Many of these things can fixed but it will require people to be more fair.

Some instructor are incredible and are extremely kind like the Spanish teacher. In any case, some teacher are exceptionally inconsiderate. At whatever point i misses 1 day.. they don't even give me an additional day to complete on the day that i miss. They simply choose to give me the test of which i didn't concentrate on for.

As a former student, I can honestly say Northwest prepared me very well for college. They are way better than Colerain but because of the Colerain being larger and more well known because of their athletics we are often looked down upon. If you're trying to decide between Northwest and Colerain as far as academics choose Northwest. Their sports teams are also on the come up.

As a former student and current mother I feel as if NW is one of the better schools in the City. NW offers it's students a variety of college prep programs which gives students the oppurtunity to earn college credit in high school. My son was apart of the financial services class and it got my kid out of 2 intro business classes in college. And last year somewhere around 20 kids from NW competed in the BPA national leadership conference in Washington DC for the second year in a row. Also Coach Murphy has changed the football program around also which makes being an alumni even better.
