-my child went to recess only three times and it’s almost the end of the year. - my child has told me that she feels scared at school. Not because of the other children but because of the grumpy staff. - my child said the vice principal always talks nasty to the kids and he is rude- The building is starting to look dilapidated-the front office lady is EXTREMELY unprofessional and will not let you get a word in no matter what the tone of the conversation is, pleasant or not

This school is horrible never answer the phones. Now all of sudden my son is bullying and my son does not bully people. My son comes home saying kids call him names and when he defends his self he bulling. I would not recommend this school I wish I would of just put my son in the regular district

My fiancée and I have had several run-ins with the staff at this school. Our daughters have had issues with other students bullying them and when brought to the staff’s attention, nothing ever gets accomplished. The principal Mr. Moore seems to have an attitude whenever issues are brought to his attention. He has even raised his voice at my fiancée when she brought a safety concern about our daughter to him which is UNACCEPTABLE! Our daughter has developed anxiety issues due to the troubles she has endured at this school. So much so that she has had to physically leave class because she was having an anxiety attack. When she explained why she left, the teacher decided she wanted to suspend her. The lack of concern for the children’s well-being both physically and mentally at this school is mind boggling. We are currently looking for other educational opportunities for our children. I would not recommend this school to any parent that cares for their child.

The only time the student to teacher ratio is correct is if there's a walk through with the board. Other than that it's consistently over. They find ways and excuses not to pay staff. Teacher turnover is very high. Children and staff went years without heat in certain classrooms. Run far far away from this school whether you're a parent or a teacher.

I pulled my son out of this school to homeschool him, simply because he would be missing a lot of days due to his sport and competitions. I have to say though, compared to his homeschool program, this school is actually pretty advanced. ESPECIALY the math. My son was seriously probably doing math 2 years above his grade level. I didn't even realize it till now, but it is quite impressive. I actually loved this school, the staff, the kids, and we will miss it very much! I would definitely recommend it to any family!

Academically the school seems to be sufficient where I can see a definite interest in learning with my child and progession throughout the year. However it need to be a better job with homework that connects with in school, sometime homework is just random and they didnt even go over it. Now communication and follow through is absolutely horrible and disgraceful. No one listens including principle, they are very nonchalant when there is a issue, no one can resolve anything, no one can ever answer a simple question, kids and parents don't get necessary information and if you do it's late, teachers don't communicate at all, some disciplinary rule are ridiculous, and the list goes on.The school has potential to be great but will staff that seems to not know things, leadership not leading and think they know everything, and a disorganized place is not a recipe for success. Its sad that there are a lack of options as you have to suck it up because education is decent, play crazy amounts for private school, or go to public school and possibly get a lower education. They just need to do better. I'm highly disappointed. Do better! Here is hoping.

The admisintestion on down to the teachers are very UNORGANIZED. They send out information about impotent school events the day before and expect you to pay for everything. I don believe they have an honor roll system my daughter receive straight A's all year last year and she never receive on reward or recognition, however, when she did wear a pink headband to school she was reprimanded by the principal! My child's first year at that school she was put on the bus several time when I had called and requested her not to be. I would arrive to the school and she was gone on the bus. I called and requested a meeting the the principal at first she had the front desk lady call me back which I still was not satisfied then she finally agreed to meet with me. There is a big lack of communication and organization at the school. I love the academics and majority of the staff is friendly. However, they have to do better this school has been around for a while they should have things together by now. They have no real time schedules my daughter says sometimes they only get a little bit of time to eat lunch that's why she doesn't finish her lunch somedays or either they get too long of a lunch and don't get recess. My daughter has been going there for 3 years and this will most definitely be her last year. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

my kids have been going to this school for years. my oldest graduated from this school and is now a sophomore in high school taking all honors classes. I have two children who attend hcmsa now. the principals are great and know the students and parents by name. they genuenly act like they are there for the better of the children. they still ask about my oldest to see how she is doing. they do disapline and yell at the children when it is necessary, lets face it times like today disrespectful children need it. my kids love this school and so do I wouldn't think of sending my kids elseware

My child is in the 2nd grade and has gone to this school since kindergarten. This school is very big on academics, and my child is learning at the rate of a 4th grader. She scores high on all tests and state testing and loves all of her teachers. Whenever I have had a problem, the teachers or principal have always been prompt at returning my call and getting the issue fixed. My child has to see a therapist and they let the therapist come to the school during recess and see her with no problem. Yes they are big on discipline and they tell you this at kindergarten orientation, but they do not cross the line. Kids these days need this as we see so many unruly children. I disagree with the comments below from said parent as I have not had any issues with them. They will work with you if your child has behavioral issues, but only so far, if it isn't getting better they have the right to suspend you child, any school does. I recommend this school to all my fellow parents and everyone that has sent their child loves it as well. They rate higher then any public school around them.

If your child has any learning issues or behavior problems this school is not for them. They offer no proactive approaches to helping these children. If a behavior of any kind bothers them then the child is automatically suspended. They do not have in school detention or any other form of discipline. Also the principals do not return phone calls when you leave them messages and are very unprofessional. Also they only teach the children what they need to know to score well on the standardized tests. My child will not be returning back to this school. Nor will I refer anyone to this school if they care about their childs education and self esteem.

At first I thought this school's high academic standards was great for my child. Going into his 3rd year I discovered that things that I had overlooked, such as yelling for discipline, lack of professionalism and etiquette had become huge problems. There is also a high turnover rate for teachers, many of them are inexperienced and it shows. I do not recommend this school.

I thought this school would be a better alternative to Mt. Healthy public schools, but I was wrong. My son attended for 2 days. On the second day, he was in aftercare and went out the wrong door by mistake when he was sent outside to play with the other kids (mind you he was 5, and the second day of school). Once he was outside he realized he went out the wrong door, but the door had locked behind him. He was out there by himself for an hour, crying before anyone knew he was missing. My mom showed up to get him, and they couldn't find him. Luckily he wasn't hurt physically, but he had nightmares for weeks. I tried to have a meeting with the principal about how to avoid it happening again, and to make sure my son was always accounted for. She ignored my request, but sent her husband. In the meeting they blamed my son and took no reresponsibility whatsoever. The aftercare teacher laughed and called him a crybaby. The principals husband (the director) became aggressive and began yelling and banging his hands on the table when I didn't agree with him. They told me how 4 other children had been misplaced on buses

This is now my son's second Year here. He is now a 1st grader. I like the school a lot. One thing about the school is that i would like to be involved in my son's school. They dont allow you in to the school that much. I Understand its for security perposes or even the fact that they think it may be a distraction to the classrooms. I've only had the chance to meet my son's teacher one time and that was the 1st day of school. They've had one open house and i was given wrong dates on the paper that was sent home. i would like to see more teacher and parent communication. I hope that this improves. Other wise i think its a wonderful school.

My daughter recently graduated from kindergarten at the HCMSA. The school is okay. Academically it seems really good. She learned how to read and write and all kinds of things but I feel there was a lack of parental involvement encouraged. Aside from chaperoning field trips parents are not really even aloud in the school. It is not what I was expecting for my daughter's elementary years. My mom was always aloud to be involved at my school growing up. I don't feel like I really even got to know her teacher very well because aside from an occasional conference or field trip I never saw her. Another negative is that they say each grade takes Spanish 1 day a week and I know they do have a Spanish teacher but my daughter said they never did Spanish. There is also no music or art class which is a downfall. I am also not sure why the school is predominantly African American, but it is. MY daughter is biracial so it isn't an issue for me, I just never really understood why there are not more races mixed in the school. Overall the school is better then what the surrounding districts have to offer but it's not the ideal school for MY daughter. Overall I give it 3 stars.

The teachers and the administration work extremely hard to help all of the children that attends the academy. I have three children at the school and they have been there whenever I have asked for assistance for my children. A school that receives an "Excellent with Distinction" rating from the State of Ohio tells me that learning is going on in the school every day. This is a great school and I highly recommend this school. This school organization prides itself on being available to any student and any parent daily. The rating that the school received was not given to them. The teachers, administration, and staff earned every bit of their current rating. Congratulations for a job well done. A concerned parent.

I like the teachers and I like how they are there to teach. I have not yet got my feet wet to determine if this school is what my grand baby needs. But I do know she is happy there and she is striving because I help with homework and studies with her. I limit TV time and find interesting things to do with her. It isn't easy when you work and tired but it is rewarding to know your children are doing well at school and that the teachers are doing their part. Parents have to do theirs as well it can not all be put on the teachers.
