Winchester is an exceptional school for children. Our kids previously attended the Poway Unified School District, one of the top districts in California, so we initially had reservations about transitioning them to Winchester. However, after my son’s first year, I was completely impressed by the school’s culture and values. Winchester prioritizes not only academic excellence but also the well-being, self-esteem, personal growth, and individual interests of every student. The staff and students foster a truly family-oriented environment, making it a welcoming and supportive community. The principal, Dr. Mazzei, is absolutely phenomenal and was recognized as Principal of the Year in her district this year—a testament to her outstanding leadership. If you’re new to the area and considering schools in Winchester, don’t hesitate! Enroll your children here—you won’t regret it!

Seriously underrated!! This school has been great for our daughter and son. The teachers are great and very involved. This school’s quality is only going to improve as the path of progress in Winchester/Hemet continues to attract new families who want to be homeowners in the area! Don’t let the rating fool you, Winchester Elementary is a solid, clean, happy place for your kids.

Don't let looks deceive you--this school is a hidden gem. Family feel with a staff that goes above and beyond. Administration is top notch and the teachers are phenomenal.

Both my children go here. The school has developed a college going atmosphere. The staff cares about each and every child. I just wish that the students were better behaved. I don't blame the school. That responsibility belongs to the parents. If you like a small school with caring staff this is the place to go.

Great school with a wonderful staff. They promote college from day one and follow through with it in the classroom lessons. They are all very committed to what they do each day. My child went here and because of the solid foundation that she was given, she will be completing her first two years of college at the same time at her high school graduation. Well done!

Me and my family moved to the Willow Walk community in 2012. We wanted to live closer to an Elementary school, which is Harmony Elementary. However, when my son started Kindergarten, he was assigned to Winchester Elementary. His teacher was wonderful, he made friends right away, yet the pressure being put on these kids has been overwhelming. He used to love storytime, but now he hates it. Driving out of town (the bus is always crowded) to get him to school, when the closest school is a few minutes away is absolute nonsense. The school is 20 minutes away and becomes more of a hassle to get there early. There isn't much of a parking area or pick up spot for parents, so many block traffic coming and going. Also, every Friday is Assembly. Unless there is rain that morning, your young one will be sitting on the blacktop, usually with the sun beating on them mercilessly. Many of the topics during assembly are for the parents, and the things said for little ones could've been said in the classroom. So if your kids do attend this school, have them wear a baseball cap, durable pants, and sunscreen because this assembly usually lasts an hour.

This school may not look like much, but my son has had the best experience there. My husband is in the Army so when he is deployed, I take our kids back to our hometown. My son was able to start Kindergarten at Winchester, but went back to TX after a couple of months when my husband came back from his deployment. After transferring from Winchester to the TX school, there was a huge difference in the education level. Winchester was more advanced. I'm in El Paso so I don't know if the education system revolved around a language barrier and teaching kids English or what, but needless to say they were way behind Winchester. Another deployment came up so my son got to finish both Kindergarten and 1st grade at Winchester. He loves it there. A lot of it had to do with the teachers. Mr. Romero set the tone for how Daniel would view his starting school. No other teacher could have made his Kindergarten year better. He makes sure the kids understand everything. He has incredible patience and knows how to speak to children. My son loved him. My son's 1st grade teacher was awesome. It broke my son's heart that we had to go back to TX and he couldn't be in Mrs. Mercer's 2nd grade class.

My oldest started going here in 2013, we were not pleased to be sent to a school further away with worse ratings/test scores than the one nearest our home. We gave it a shot anyway, twice he came home with injuries (once blood all over the upper part of his shirt) and said the teacher didn't do anything when she was told, nor did they do anything when teachers were told of one student being mean/disrespectful to others. We are not thrilled about this school, which is why we are pulling our kids out and will be going to charter schools.

Theres nothing good to say. I bought a house in a different district just to ensure my children would never have to go back. But , if your kids don't now a word of english in the 4th grade you should buy a house to make sure your kids get to go here, the whole place is designed for students who don't know any English at all.

The negatove reviews are so uunfair. This school ia wonderful. I love the sense od the community. Mr. Delano and the teachers are honestly the best around. All three of my children have gone here since 2006.
