KES has been such an amazing school for my son. He is surrounded by kind children, amazing teachers and exemplary teacher's assistants. The PTO is very involved and there's always something fun going on.

Severely overcrowded. Lots of bullying and issues with unmotivated and overworked teachers. The school is poorly ran and there is no support for many children.

This low review reflects the culture created by the parents. The NY families who bring their pettiness and bickering have ruined the school. They reflect everything that a school should be against. Instead, the ugliness they bring to the community has ruined and otherwise great school and Waxhaw. Those remaining “ sheep” families who follow them are equally responsible. Unfortunately, they are like roaches, nice the enter, they are very difficult to remove.

This school is mediocre at best. I expected much more from a school in this area, and a principal who apparently has a doctorate degree.

We have had an excellent experience with this school. Their mandarin immersion program is nothing short of amazing. The parents are very involved with the school, as well as within the community. I feel that my child is in a good environment and receiving a top notch education at Kensington.

Extremely pleased with this school and all that it has to offer its students. The administration and faculty support the students in a myriad of ways. The global education emphasis helps make students aware that they are part of a larger society and that they play a very important role in the world as global citizens. The Mandarin Immersion program is OUTSTANDING and the fact that a program like this is offered in a public school is simply awesome. The teachers from China are so dedicated and watching their students embrace a new language so young is nothing short of amazing.

this School needs to better balance class size and the rules needed to make the size ratios work with getting kids excited to learn and welcomed to be there. Fun for learning is foreign here.

Great AIG and OM programs. Don't know why it's only 6/10. We're very happy.

RE-posting this review below as it was in the wrong school review section before: This school is fantastic. The teachers are friendly and educated and work with the children to figure out how to do their worksheets. My son is in Kindergarten there. All the parents I have spoken with seem to be happy with their children's teachers as well. I haven't heard any complaints-except for the drop off line which can be overpacked in the morning. The teachers are great about communicating with the parents on small details, deadlines, etc via the "communication folder" that goes home each day. There is also a small amount of homework which I was surprised about, but my son is able to handle it better than I thought. I recommend this school if you are moving out to Waxhaw, NC! (i'm originally from the NorthEast) There is also a Mandarin immersion program at this school via the Splash Program and available through lottery only. Submitted by a parent

Super sense of community. Very involved parents and staff. So far our experiences in K and 1st have been with top notch teachers and staff. Like the communication from the teachers we have had. Principal supports her teachers. She can improve her communication by streamlining what is sent out to families.

In my experience the teachers go out of their way to ensure the students are well taken care of and receive the best education, and I have seen personally how the principal and asst. principal are very kind and loving to the kids.

This school is great, very impressed with the AIG programs offered. Would be even better if they allowed students to chat at lunch like Rea View is allowed.
