The staff at this school is nothing short of phenomenal.

Disappointed, the school looks great when searching on the web and when taking a tour but once you engage with the administration you can tell it has grown too fast and is concerned most about appearance than the well being of the teachers or students inside.

We're not happy with this school so far, we're giving it a shot but it's far below what we're used to.

So far this has been a great school. But some teachers are NOT good. And they do NOT do hardly any activities for families to get to know one another. The PTO is like a little girls club for only a select few women who NEVER let any outsiders in. We love that the school is in the counrty on a small 2 land road. To anyone who complains about their late policy, I'd suggest they leave 5 minutes early. Kids are welcomed into the school and their classrooms 30 minutes before school starts.

New Town is an amazing school. The administration and teachers are top-notch. While there is a push for high test scores, the teachers really care about the students. To address the comment about the parking lot being crowded for morning drop-off, I would suggest simply arriving earlier. New Townnis a large school, but it runs like a well-oiled machine, while still having a close-knit feeling. I truly can’t say enough good things about the school. We have loved our time st New Town.

This was a review a few years ago... its 100% accurate today in 2018. I would add that traffic is getting WORSE!! And the admin staff are rude..they will shut the door to the school at 7:29am making you sign in...policies need to be changed. This isnt military school. And for god’s sake, can they build turning lanes at least to help decrease traffic.. not great planning when you have over 1,000 students enrolled and ONE way to get to the school on a SINGLE lane!NTES is more focused on keeping their rating a 10 than they are on students & family. We have 2 kids that transfered into NTES. The staff isn't friendly & my kids now dread school. NTES has little to no "family" activities & too much homework. Traffic is a HUGE issue as there aren't any turning lanes on the nearby roads & the school isn't located within walking distance from neighborhoods ... all students have to be transported by vehicle. The school seems to frown upon parents driving their kids to & from school. A quote from an employee to a parent who was voicing concern for traffic, "Well, ALL students should be riding the bus anyway." Also, I understand rules but when traffic is a huge problem, that should be taken into account. A teacher shut the door in one dad's face as he was walking his children into the school (they were already inside, in front of the second set of doors, in front of the office) & the bell rang. The teacher told him, "You'll have to check them in now. They are late.", while shutting the door in his face. That is unacceptable! He didn't have to walk them into the school. If he hadn't, they wouldn't be "late". The rule should be broken for mere seconds.

The staff make this school. Every single teacher is invested in the kids, and they all love their job. The kindergarten teachers all the way to the 5th grade, coordinate with each other and work as a team. It truly is an amazing dynamic for a public school.

We moved at the beginning of the year. My daughter absolutely loves NTES. The teachers are wonderful. Her teacher went out of her way to help her adjust and settle in. There are plenty of opportunities to for parents to get involved. My daughter is constantly challenged and has excelled academically as well as socially. The principle and vice principle are both fantastic. They do a wonderful job running the school. I couldn't be happier.

I have given the school 4 stars based on how friends have raved about how happy their kids are and what good teachers they have. Unfortunately my daughter does not have one of them. We have an unbelievably lazy teacher. We go a month or more without any returned homework, tests or feedback of any kind. We will be informed of school events the day before they happen. When we send in questions we will get no response. The school as a whole has poor communications. As far as too much homework, that is a reality in todays world. Where ever you go, in order to keep up the homework will be copious. I hope we have just gotten one bad teacher and next year the situation will improve. If not I will amend tjis rating.

We moved to North Carolina at the end of the 12/13 school year while my daughter was in 4th grade. We were all nervous about the move, leaving good schools behind and making new friends. NTES has welcomed us with open arms! My daughter is thriving and finally being challenged in her classrooms. The class sizes are smaller, with fewer discipline issues than where we came from, so she is less distracted. Time is not constantly wasted on "waiting' for kids to behave. They teachers, volunteer coordinators and administrators use technology and sites like "sign up genius" to communicate and coordinate volunteer efforts, so as a parent I was able to jump right in and volunteer in many different areas. My child has been welcomed with open arms and was even invited to a slumber party our second week here. Most of the families we have met have also moved from other states and share the desire to build new social connections and support systems. New Town has been a great school for us!
