Just don’t go to this school I get bullied constantly and the teachers don’t care don’t go!!! The school lunch made kids throw up cause of how bad it is!!

I'm a parent and my child started here last year for the first time as a 7th grader. We moved from a very highly ranked school in Miami, Florida and I wasn't sure if this school would be as good. It wasn't as good, it was WAY better. What do we appreciate about the school? It's extremely well kept, the facility is in great condition, spotless with everything these students need for a good education. Everything except textbooks that is, but that appears to be a public school policy thing, not a weddington-specific issue. Some teachers were extra kind to my daughter and helped her transition. Some teachers didn't do much to help her when she struggled, but I suppose you'll find that at any school. I appreciate the high level of communication between the school and parents, the activities and opportunities to get involved, like the BFF event and the 7th grade dance. I appreciate how much my daughter has grown in independence! They are great at teaching them how to advocate for themselves. The students have been very nice and welcoming. There weren't any bullying experiences at all... which is refreshing because her last school was FULL of them. Overall we are very happy with the school and looking forward to having my two younger kids go there too.

I was bullied several times here. I reported it to admin and they said they would help if I reported it again but failed to when I did so. The counselors barley helped with actual mental health issues. the counselors office was comforting but still. This school needs to get a better disciplinary action structure. The education system pushes kids way too hard. A teacher here bullied my brother but didn't get fired. Most teachers here were great but some were horrible. Admin is not great in general. they don't let you use your phone during free time.

When I first went here, it’s a AMAZING school, with a wonderful, hardworking staff. I met and made a lot of friends, and this middle school made my life like an adventure for me. I’m about to go to 7th grade next year. I loved everything of what has happened to me so far and I love to continue being a Wildcat there, always and forever. The staff works very hard to help and support the students and parents in the best way forward, which I truly appreciate. I met a lot of friends and learned so much from the wonderful I met in 6th grade, and I hope next year, I get to have this positive feeling that I already have right now. I would absolutely recommend you to go to this middle school!

We were told Weddington schools were the best to be in the area when we moved from out of state. That has not been the case or our experience. My middle Schooler has had several accounts of bullying. There are some amazing teachers and there are some absolutely horrible and absent teachers. Absent as in there in the classroom but do not hear or see anything going on. And the leader ship starting at the principal on down leaves much to be desired. Very disappointed.

School busing is an issue, stops have been changed to be so far from houses that it is not safe for the kids. As other parents have commented, be prepared to drive your kids to school if you are in Union County.

There is limited busing in Union County. They have increased stops for kids so that one-way is now 1.2 miles, 1.8 miles, or even more for some kids (with no sidewalks). Be prepared to drive your kids to school

My daughter is on her 3rd year there. The teachers and staff are truly AWESOME!.

My child has been sad to see favorite teachers leave this school, because teacher pay is so low in NC. The school has computers but doesn't have enough money for textbooks. This is especially difficult when it comes to math. NC schools have almost the lowest per student and teacher pay in the country, and this school does as well as it can under circumstances.

Not very affective with bullying..we have peace out purple out once a month but its not enough. half the kids see it as an opportunity to wear their favorite color. theres cliques, and cheerleaders and football players act as if they are higher than others. bullying on buses, laughing at students when they dont know the answer, its hard to find a place where you feel safe. drama,rumours, im glad im applying to Central Academy of Technology and Arts (Union County Career Center), and amazing school that prepares you for college and beyond, its an amazing high school and id much rather go there than to go to Weddington High School, which i can only imagine is full of even more drama.

MWS has been my daughters middle school for 3 years, 6th and 7th grade were fine, Her teachers were engaged, my daughter enjoyed her education and excelled. But 8th grade took a turn from bad to really awfull. One teacher assigned too much homework, forgot to teach and my daughter needed help. I attempted to get help. I email the teacher, 5, 7 days would pass befor I would get a response. Her responses were short, abrupt and annoyed. I have always supported the staff and the tough job they have. But their attitude toward me was rude, How dare I ask a question, how dare I, the parent, get involved in my childs education. They hung up on me, the resorted to calling me names saying I was acting like a child, and being difficult. They refused to answer my questions. The staff and specifically the administration have forgotten that I am the customer. I choose to bring my child to them for education and they have no right to treat me with disrespect, talk down to me or ignore me. The staff and the principal need to realize that they may be paid by the county but I am their costomer and I will be heard even if you hang up the phone on me.

I love Weddinton middle! The teachers are awesome, the education is great. I cold never have wished for a better school!!!!!!

I can't say enough good things about Weddington Middle School. Both of my children attended private elementary school so I was sensitive to their transition into a much larger, public middle school. The exceptional leadership, extremely capable and accomplished teaching staff and the positive, supportive student environment provides the foundation for Weddington Middle, one of this state's most accompished public schools. I would recommend Weddington to any family interested in offering their child a middle school experience that will lay the groundwork for success in high school and beyond.
