My husband and I have had our 3 year old son at HCS since he was 10 weeks old. In each class, he has had teachers who truly care about him, his growth and understanding of the school curriculum. We love that it is a faith based school that directs children to learn Biblical principles. HCS is affordable and provides healthy meals and snacks for our son. We feel that HCS is an incredibly special school and are so glad our son attends daily.

Our 3 year old daughter is happy in this place. School is not that "wow" in terms of decor but for the price is excellent. As parents we dont have any complaints. Like in this business turn over of teacher is high.

The Christian School Program is part of the ministry of Horizon Baptist Church based on Christian principles and Biblical teachings. We provide an environment for the development of a child's social, spiritual, physical and mental needs that is safe, happy, warm and loving. In our school, we want to help each child grow and develop as Jesus did. We want to accept each child as he is - allowing him to grow in his own way, at his own pace, according to individual needs. This will be done by providing learning activities in a Christian atmosphere designed to assist children and their families to develop the mature Christian life.

This school is unorganized, unprofessional, understaffed and too many children in the classrooms with only 1 teacher and no assistants. My 2 year old had a teacher that missed several days of school a week for months. They finally moved the kids in her class to other classes which then made them overcrowded. They did all of this without informing the parents. There was a child in my son's class who would bite other children almost everyday. My son was bitten several times and this child is still at the school even though he has bitten many children. His new teacher seemed frazzled and overwhelmed every time I talked to her. She seemed to be in way over her head with all of the children running around her classroom. There was no assistant in there either at the time. I have been there several times when she was alone with 2 year olds. When there was an assistant it would be different ones. I think it is important for your child to have the same teacher and teacher assistant every day as a comforting routine. The few assistants they do have seem to be going in different rooms like they are playing a game of musical chairs. The Director is never there. The Kindergarten teacher is always at the front desk or in the front office area no matter when I have popped in there during school hours. I wonder who is teaching her students? This private school is more like an average day care center. Everyone knows that to get quality care for your preschool children that you need no less than two teachers in a classroom with 12 or more children. That is just common sense. Your child gets more individual attention and it is a more calming and nurturing environment and therefore a better learning environment. To be paying for a PRIVATE CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL you expect more quality in the care of your child.

My oldest son attended Horizon from infancy up to the age of 3 and my younger son from infancy to about 8 months old. All but one teacher that I encountered were very loving and caring and seemed to love my children like their own. However, they were way understaffed and their were alot of children with behavioral problems that my oldest sons learned alot of bad habits from and received alot less attention because they focus was on the other children. The biggest reason why we left and why I rated them so low was because I went to the school for a Christmas party with my oldest son but instead of taking him home after the party I had to leave him and go back to work. He was upset but the teacher took him and distracted him with some cookies from the party. I went to another room to visit my youngest son before leaving and about 10 minutes later as I was leaving I was approached by my oldest sons teacher because she couldn't find him......to make a long story short, we found him out at the road (yes Lawrenceville Suwanne) and a STRANGER had stopped her car and was walking him back up to the school. They are so understaffed that MY CHILD got out to LAWRENCEVILLE-SUWANEE (which is a SUPER busy road for anyone who doesn't know) and was brought back up to the school by a STRANGER. Please don't leave your children here. The NUMBER ONE responsibility of a daycare/school is to keep your children safe. They couldn't even do that. Some one was watching over my son that day but it wasn't Horizon Christian School.

My husband and I like this school so much. The teachers and staff are very friendly. I feel that our child is very loved and nurtured at Horizon. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the few times I have tried to call the school between the hours of 9:30 and 1:00 I get the voice mail. I left messages and my calls were never returned. I think it is important to have someone answering the phones during the school hours so that parents can get messages to their child's teachers during their school day. Another parent in my child's class had the same problem with calling during those same school hours.

I had my child at this school for two years. She was in a 2-Year-Old class and then last year a 3-Year-Old class. I found the staff to be very warm and welcoming every single time I dealt with any of them. I always felt welcomed and well informed. I felt like they really loved my child and my child loved them. I felt comfortable and secure to leave my child there. The reason I gave them only 3 stars is because I feel the staff is spread a little too thin. The older preschool classes only have 1 full time teacher in the room at all times. The classes have to share assistant teachers. From visiting the classroom for parties and such I feel as if the teacher was not able to give enough attention to all of the children. There were a few behavior problem children and she had to spend most of her time redirecting them. I don't care what the rules are I feel like any preschool class with more than 10 children need 2 full time teachers in the room at all times to give all of the children the attention and direction they need. Because of observing this type of situation I elected to put my daughter in a school where all of the classes have two teachers in the room at all times.

Unfortunately, after several months of trying to let some concerns "slide" it became apparent that there are legitimate issues that need to be addressed. The confirmation came we read another parents review. We could have written that ourselves...It is very odd after several months that the Staff does not now your name and you have no clue who most of the staff are ( They do not wear name tags or even introduce themselves). It is 50/50 that whoever is at the front (when you sign in to get your child) will smile or greet you in a joyful way . It is just awkward that the staff that you are "trusting" your child with and who are very important role models do not seem to have manners. Yes, they say you are "Welcome" to go back anytime...but it is apparent that the staff find it more of a annoyance. I will however say there are some very nice and friendly staff! But sadly it seems like the long time staff have lost their PASSION and JOY. If you are a parent that wants to know and not just "Assume" how your child is doing(Yes they send out emails for the WHOLE class) but I mean YOUR child then Horizon will not be the school for you. I hope the Joy of why they are there ignites.

I love HCS! All three of my kids have attended with my youngest still enrolled in an after school program. I have to say this school has made it possible for me to go to work each day and not have to worry about the well being and safety of my child. My youngest has a severe nut allergy along with other food allergies and year after year the measures the staff takes to keep my child safe is incredible. Mrs. Judy and Mrs. Shelly have very high expectations for their staff when it comes to the children.

My daughter has been at this school for three years now and we love this school. Everyone is very polite and caring towards ones needs. My daughter is currently in kindergarten there and my family is so amazed at her skills at this age already. One of the best things about the school that I love so much is that they teach with patience and basing everything on biblical principles. I love everything about the school and everyone there.

This school is disorganized and unprofessional. My son was in this school and treated horribly. After telling his teacher that he was speech delayed and in speech therapy, I asked them to send me daily reports of how he did and what they did in school. It was like pulling teeth to get his teacher to write the brief reports everyday and when I tried to address it with the principle I was ignored. By the end of the school year they were treating my child like the "red headed step child" and told me' "he has problems, and needs to be in a special school with one on one attention". I pulled my son out and put him in a different school. I am happy to report that he is doing great, has completed speach therapy and gets "very good"s" on his daily reports, which by the way are the norm at his new school. I would never trust this school with my child.

My son attended the two yr program last school year and I absolutely love the school. The teachers are very hands on and I get a report on how my son is progressing throughout the year. I also love that they serve healthy wholesome meals that my picky son does not have a problem eating.

At first glance this school seems great. But after a few months you notice something is not right. The secretary does not greet you nor know ones name. At time I would arrive to drop my son off an the secretary would be talking to somone on the phone and completely ingnoring me. The second thing is that the communication between teacher and parent is terrible. I had to constatly try to communicate with the teacher about finding out about my sons progress or even about what they were doing on a daily bases. IF you want to drop your child off before work and not know what they do throughout the day or about your childs progress throught the school year, then place y our child in this school. So disappointed

My daughter has been attending HCS since age 3 and will now be attending 1st grade(2011-2012). I have been impressed with the education, love and care that she has received by all the staff, teachers and adminstration. I was looking for a place that would encourage my daughter to learn and excel, but also feed her spiritual and emotional needs..HCS has definitely done that. Mrs. Judy, the school director, has done an excellent job in leading the school and encourages parent involvement, I look forward to keeping my daughter with them for as long as I can.

I have never found a school--at any price-- that does a better job of integrating excellent learning for all kids with genuine Christ-centered love for kids. Quality education, loving, well-ordered environment, and attention to concerns and needs of parents
