We had high expectations after coming from Jackson, and we have not been disappointed. The principal of NB is constantly present and engaging with parents, staff and students. Parental engagement is encouraged and there are regular opportunities for parents to participate in student learning. This school houses the Gwinnett County School Police Office so we feel very safe. The teachers are fantastic and the different teams really do work as a team. I appreciate being informed with weekly newsletters and progress reports, students are able to retake most assignments to try to improve their grades. They focus on learning the material not making a perfect score the first time. This school has so many opportunities and resources for students. I was very impressed with the list of connections they have to choose from and the equipment available to them. They have a laundry list of clubs as well. This year they have gone on several field trips and have done a few large group research projects that are then judged by parent volunteers who attend the presentations as well as teachers for the whole grade. It really feels like this school is already looking ahead for college not just high school.

So excited to be a part of an incredible movement. Dr. Thompson and his staff holds our kids accountable, by placing the students needs first. Every decision that is made he ensures the safety, and the education of Northbrook kids are first. It is an privilege to see the kids respond to him in a positive way. He attends kids activities (when invited), he's approachable to both parents, students, teachers, and staff. Lastly, hes not afraid to shake a student hand and have a conversation with them.Keep up the great work NORTHBROOK!!!

I have two students at Northbrook and for the past two years we have had wonderful experiences! Anytime I have met with teachers or administrators, they have been caring and supportive of both my children and myself. The school encourages parental involvement and has a high level of respect and regard for parental input. Students are treated with respect no matter their race, religion, culture or ability. When incidents have arisen, they have been handled with professionalism, courtesy and great respect. I am an educator and a past homeschooler, so tough to please, and I LOVE Northbrook Middle!

I have an older child that also went to NB for 7th and 8th grade. Now I have another student here. I don’t want to reveal much that could identify her but it’s like dejavú. We do not enjoy anything about this school. It’s militant and teachers are not concerned about the students with the exception of a few. Teaching is not an easy job so I tend to favor a teacher’s perspective over my own children but our time here has been consistently poor. We love our feeder school Jackson and have now had more than three kids through Jackson and one through Peachtree Ridge which we also love. The last two children will not attend this school. It’s supposed to be prepping them for high school yet they have to walk on lines, can’t speak in the hallway, it’s just the most ridiculous, unsupportive environment to bring CHILDREN through.

I really like this school, the connections are great. School food could be improved. The teachers are very kind and do not scold you(from my experience)for the smallest of things. They actually care about you .

At this school there is lots of bullying and judgement not only that. The councilors at this school does nothing to ever help i and my mother have said something about the bullying but to no avail it didn't stop by then my mother called the principal and the issues was only stopped for about 2 weeks then started up again now I will not go to the councilor not only that the councilor wouldn't do anything even when she was aware of the situation all she said to me was to write a silent report which with doing so nothing happened I guess it's called a silent report for a reason cause it wont be heard and to make things worse the school knows of my situation and my battle with mental health you would think it would go e them more concern but all I have to say is I am very disappointed with the school and I believe more should be done but I do have to say there has been some really friendly faces like my art teacher my LA teacher and my chorus teacher and my social studies but out side of that I am truly disponted honestly I might wanna just risk leaving IEP just to get away from the bullying I don't really care for extra help with subjects I just want to feel excepted and human.
