This school unenrolled my son and kicked him out abruptly with no communication to me. They didn’t even let him bid a farewell to his teachers or peers. He is in first grade this is a very traumatic experience that they enforced on him. This school is the most coldhearted school I’ve ever encountered and other schools in the district agree that what they did was wrong but they Expected coming from Fremont Elementary.

My disabled child is being picked on and the principal told me that if I was going to say "I told you so" we had nothing to talk about when in fact I was repeating important information he clearly didn't listen to the first time. My sons are really nice children and neither are doing well with the bullying here. The principal bullies just as much. Everytime I need to speak to a teacher it's always "talk to me instead" and nothing is ever done. I should be able to speak with my children's teachers when theres a problem but it's a whole process and that takes days or I have to attempt to get ahold of them on the app which can also take days. I'm not listened to by the school unless people outside of the school are involved or unless I manage to catch a teacher outside for a moment. This school is terrible for children with disabilities and it feels unsafe to my children and myself. I am attempting to contact the school board for the second time in a year because of these incidents. I'm highly disappointed in the way things are handled here and it needs to be addressed properly.

I will not put my last child in this school or suggest Springfield public schools to any parent.

This school over the last ten years was so wonderful and had teachers that went well and above. But this year all they want to do is e-mail or class dojo communication instead of picking up the phone and calling a parent when an indecent has happened like my kindergarteners glasses were destroyed by another student.. If there new teachers would pay attention to the kids it would not have happened!!! Get off the screens and get to know your students.... There is more to learning then computers screens interaction between parents, students and teachers has completely come to a halt at Fremont and this school and principal dissevers an F for communication and common courtesy...

The reviews on this school are all dated and the school has gone through drastic changes since they were written. I'm not sure how it was when those reviews were written, but it is an amazing school now. The entire building was renovated during the 2015-2016 school year and an additional classroom area was built. The new part features classroom pods as well and a great amount of open space and natural light. Garage doors on each classroom open so that classes can interact (the layout is a center hub with classroom spokes that open into the common area). There is a fairly new principal at the school and Greatschools does not have this update. Also, when the school was remodeled, they changed to a collaborative learning model and there are inquiry projects and other techniques to enhance learning. Kids frequently interact with other grade levels for learning and projects, each child at the school was issued a Chromebook and has access to learning programs such as Lexia (reading) and Dreambox (math). The school has a tornado shelter, many special after school opportunities relating to art, athletics and other areas, kids can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here every day, and the staff is amazing as well. If you are relying on the ratings on this page to learn about this school, please be aware of the dates. I went to this school as a child and it wasn't anything special back then, but now it is one of the top schools in Springfield. Also, when you look at the test scores for this school, understand that this is not a reflection on teacher effort but more about the demographics of the area. If you are a parent who cares and is willing to be involved with your child's learning, they can be very successful at this school.

This is my childs second year at Fremont. The first year I loved this school, I loved the small atmosphere and his teacher, however this year I am not impressed. I have heard teachers yell at their students (to me this is unacceptable). There is a new princaple whom seems to be real nice and involved, but their have been 3 teachers that I have witnessed talking down to children. I do not believe that I will have my child attending Fremont next year unless there is some serious improvements.
