I love this school! I'm having amazing experiences at Everett and have felt more included than ever at this school. Everyone is so kind and we all support each other. The teachers really care for us and help us succeed. The teachers also make learning exciting and fun. I'm always really happy when Monday rolls around! I would suggest the school for any other families who would like to give their children an eye-opening and positive experience!

The people at eEverett are incredible. The staff helps and connects with families and I feel super safe at Everett. The sports are super fun and we have many electives to choose from. I really like Everett even though a lot of people dont :)

As a concerned parent and an advocate for quality education, I feel compelled to share my deeply disappointing experience with Everett Middle School. My hope is that my review serves as a warning to others who are considering enrolling their children at this institution.First and foremost, the academic standards at Everett Middle School are shockingly low. The teachers seem disengaged and uninspired, failing to create a stimulating and challenging learning environment. The curriculum lacks depth and rigor, leaving students ill-prepared for higher education or real-world challenges. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of commitment to educational excellence.Furthermore, the administration's handling of disciplinary issues is incredibly ineffective. The school fails to establish a safe and respectful environment for students. Instances of bullying and harassment go unresolved, fostering an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. The lack of proper intervention and support systems for students in need is utterly disappointing. The communication between the school and parents is abysmal. Important information regarding school events, policy changes, or academic progress is rarely conveyed promptly or efficiently. The staff seems indifferent to the concerns and inquiries of parents, making it challenging to be actively involved in our children's education.Facility maintenance is another area where Everett Middle School falls short. The building appears neglected and unkempt. The inadequate cleanliness and lack of basic upkeep create an unfavorable environment for learning. It reflects a lack of pride and investment in the students' well-being.In conclusion, I cannot express my disappointment enough in Everett Middle School. The subpar academic standards, ineffective disciplinary practices, poor communication, and neglect of the school facilities all contribute to an unsatisfactory educational experience. I strongly advise parents to explore alternative options that prioritize the holistic development and success of their children.

I have an eighth grader at Everett Middle school and they love their school. for the past three years the school has navigated challenges within the school and due to the global pandemic. I was super impressed with how fast and efficiently they elaborated a plan for online learning. I feel like the communication from school has gotten better and better. The communication from the individual teachers about problems with my kid have been clear and quick. My kid has been inspired by quite a few of the teachers and is engaged and desirous to learn. That is due to the teachers' continued dedication in the face of the challenges of the past few years. Also, when my kid has been bullied or picked upon, which is something that happens in middle school, they have been supported by their peers who stood up for them and given tools and skills by the adults at school to cope with these challenges. They love their school. I am super happy with my kid's experience at Everett.

In the past few years this school has become increasingly violent with no repercussions. The principle and assist principle are not advocates for those who bring forward concerns and do not take the time to investigate or report. They spend funds on “training” for restorative practices vs. what the school actually needs - more safety for students and teachers. My kid has witnessed extreme violence by students to other students and staff (hitting, pushing, threats with weapons). They are afraid to go to school and I don’t blame them. Unfortunately the staff have to manage these behaviors in class and there is often no time for learning in the classroom. This happens daily. We are looking at other options for their last year. Avoid this school at all costs unless the admin can speak to and address these real concerns that have been brought to their attention.

My little baby has been feeling upset after many teachers have been okay with bullying. Every day my baby gets shoved in trashcans or has a black eye. One day he said a girl got beat up for being a new student. This place is a wild house and everything is wrong. Teachers are scared to say anything and my baby is scared for their health. Best,A Caring and Worried parent

Although what I'm trying to say hopefully doe's not offend any school members, I hope they can understand what this school needs to improve on. Bullying:Like if the teachers & staff want to help, but they don't and just let the bully get away with it sometimes. Teachers & staff need to be more strict because teachers & staff being soft like toilet paper isn't definitely the key to solving this bullying case. The teachers & staff should help a student when they're bullied regardless of they ignore it, seems to make them look like cowards.Character: Like about 98% of students don't have a strong character, to be honest. Learning differences: None.Homework: Seems like a lot of students do it so there's no problem.Teachers: Have a stronger keen sharp eye for their students instead of letting them leave their classes in session.Leadership: Didn't do anything either.

School is extremely chaotic. Teachers mean well but can't control the students. They wander freely from class to class. Trash, swearing, and fights are commonplace. Not much of a school community. The surrounding neighborhood is not a good environment for middler schoolers.

Sad to say as excited as it was to be enrolled at this school, it has become a great disappointment. Beware of bullying at this school.

After recently moving to SF, I had some hesitations about enrolling my student in Everett, due to some of the things I'd read here and elsewhere. I was also aware that there is a lot of change in the city, and one person's experience three or four years ago may not accurately reflect current situations. However, when the sfusd school selection system gave us Everett, and given that it is fairly close to home, we decided to give it a try with open minds. We're only one month into the school year, but so far so good. My kid seems happy (well, as happy as any kid who really doesn't want to go to school can be), hasn't had any bad experiences, and seems to be getting good engagement from teachers. He has also enrolled in the Spanish language program, and his Spanish is improving nicely.Additionally, I have been happy to discover that there are many parents of various ethnicities involved in the overall community.

My experience is the the school is severely broken. They are unable to identify and retain staff that can make this school get back on track. The teachers are very inexperienced at handing the challenges of the classroom.

The teachers are amazing here and my daughter is very happy with the academics here. But some of the student's behavior is concerning and the school authorities do not do much to address the issue.

This school has fallen fast and hard since its reconstitution. The administration and teachers are very inexperienced, and consistently show favoritism in awards (handing out the yellow award shirts multiple times to the same students while other deserving students have yet to receive one) and selection for sports teams (always the same kids picked for teams) while talking about "social equity and justice". Numerous examples of poor judgement, such as how the recent student elections were run are the norm, rather than the exception. The administration needs to be rebuilt from the ground up with experienced professionals, rather than green "Teach for America" personnel that lack the experience necessary to run an diverse school.

My son just started 6th grade at Everett, but we spent a great deal of time in the last year and 1/2 attending tours (several times, both parents), talking to teachers, the principal and anyone else willing to talk to us! And I'm thrilled to say that Everett has proved to be as great as we had hoped! The 6th grade teachers are incredible! They are energized, inspiring and get the kids excited about learning. Our son even chose Creative Writing as his elective, which came as a total shock (knowing how he avoided writing in the past!). We love Everett!

Whenever my child is asked what he likes best about Everett Middle School, he says "the teachers-they make you want to learn!"

While we have only been involved with this wonderful middle school for about three weeks now, the adjustment for our newly minted sixth grader has been fantastic. It may be too early to say he's thriving, but what I especially love is that he comes home enthusiastic about the whole day and learning. Bottom line, enjoying building high quality lifelong learning skills may be the best outcome that is visible so far. That he's happy, making new friends, and feeling supported is icing on the cake. Our biggest adjustment has been the newly acquired freedom; which unlike elementary school, these kids have a lot of latitude (which is great practice for adulthood).

My child is an incoming 6th grader at Everett. She was thrilled that Everett offered a step up program for the incoming students to get to know each other and the school and learn more about what to expect. After the first week I overheard her telling a friend who hadn't yet started school that if her school was anything like Everett the other girl was going to love it. That is high praise, but I think it is merited. The students at Everett are taught to aim high from their first day. The expectations for student performance and behavior is clear and it is enforced fairly and consistently. For my daughter this has meant staying after school several times to finish incomplete work or as a consequence for lapses in attention to instructions. This seems appropriate and she hasn't complained as it doesn't feel punitive to her but just corrective and fair. As a parent I appreciate the high standards and their consistent but patient enforcement. I have already seen a changed commitment and enjoyment in learning as a result of all that is happening in the classrooms.

I attended this school and was bullied on a regular basis while teachers ignored it, I felt like the teachers would not allow me to study ahead of where we were in class and so I was bored a lot of the time. With the exception of a couple of caring teachers, most of them don't seem dedicated to their jobs. I wished I had had the opportunity to go to another middle school, even though it would have meant a longer commute.
