We have 2 kids at this school and really love the culture of the school and the bilingual education. There are some really great families and our boys have met some great friends. The TK teacher is possibly the best teacher in America. Loved by students and had our son starting his learning journey on great footing. Being a charter school there are some unique aspects that the school has like music and dance programs. There is increasing parent involvement and depending on your POV the TK through 8th grade can be less of a worry as you have an option locked in for middle school. Having kids 4 years apart this helped us have 2 kids at the same school for a bit.The school does not test well on a state level for English or Math which does seem unfortunate. Part of this could be that being in the Mission there might be non-native English speakers. We have noticed that the class size seems to grow at grade 4, but three years in and 2 kids deep this school has been great for us.

This is our 4th year at TECA and we've been so happy here. My kid has soaked up Spanish like a sponge and is reading and writing fluently in both languages (despite pandemic zoom school). She loves the project based learning and delving deeply into a subject be it habitats or community. The daily art specials are a unique treasure in SF public school and spark so much joy among the students. I truly appreciate the celebration of diversity that is woven into the curriculum and in community events throughout the year.

In a sea of city schools there are some good and some bad. This is neutral at best. The support staff and disrespectful.

Navigating the SF elementary school maze was a bit overwhelming, but I am beyond pleased that our family landed at TECA. The dual-language immersion option was one of the key factors that brought us here. My first-grade daughter is a native English speaker but is developing comprehension and confidence in Spanish with each passing month. Her teachers are dedicated, skilled, enthusiastic, and creative. The integrated daily "specials," including dance, music, PE, art, drama, and a Lego/STEM class are a definite bonus in rounding out the social, artistic, and cultural experience for our kids. I am impressed by the new superintendent and principal, who are making efforts each semester to improve our facilities and bring the school community closer together. Based on our experience, I skipped the SFUSD lottery for my younger daughter, who will join TECA's kindergarten program in the fall.

Wonderful school. My daughter started transitional kindergarten this year and loves it so much here we're not even bothering with the SFUSD kindergarten lottery. Daily art/music/PE or dance is a great part of the school day. Even though it's a TK-8 it doesn't seem big and intimidating like the other K-8 nearby. My daughter LOVES her school. What else can you ask for?

Our family has been with TECA for two years and have children in K and 1st grade, both in the dual-language program. We've enjoyed the variety or arts programs, the caring teachers and the inclusion of both Spanish and English throughout the entire school. The school plans regular activities to share the students work with quarterly assemblies, as well as other cultural events to bring the community together.

Our son is in his 3rd year of the Spanish Dual Immersion program. We have been very happy with his dedicated teachers and their caring approach. The principal knows every child and the art "specials" classes are wonderful. They also have a wonderful school counselor and RTI teachers. Since our time here, TECA has added a reading room, a soccer field and a library that will be filled with books this Fall. Our 7 yr old son loves his school community and said that he thinks "it is the finest school in all of San Francisco!"

I'm so glad we found this school. We actually was assigned another popular Spanish immersion school in the noe valley from SFUSD lottery but decided to go for TECA back in 2014. My son is in first grade now and loves his school, teachers and friends. The daily art program is great and teachers are very experienced and loving.

Thomas Edison Charter Academy is a TK-8 school that supports all kinds of children and has very diverse teachers. The principal is steadfast and extremely experienced. She's been here for 2.5 years and making incredible changes to the great benefit of all. The children get excellent academics as well as a creative arts class (music, dance, visual arts, theater, media arts) or PE every single day of the year. Children who are below level, above level, and/or need help with social issues receive extra support. We are happy to send our child here!

I have twins that they started kindergarten spanish inmersion banck in August 2013. I was worry about my son, because we had very serious dificulties at pre-school were he couldn't finished. My son was almost every day at the principal's office because his behavior, he not responding to any direcctions from teachers, I can tell you I worked a lot with the school to make my son life easy at school and at home, but nothing looks to work out, this also was afecting my daugther life at pre-school. As they started my son was showing behaviors, that we start working together with teachers, first a bracelete marking faces as he behave every class, did not work but teachers and principal decide that he will have his on desk, that way he will be able to enjoy the class little by little, and it was as a miracle to everybody, my son is able to learn, teacher is able to control the class better and he is more confident as he feel special at his own desk, up today he can enjoy circle time for reading and be focus. I really apreciate the time for the teachers and principal in my son behavior, and also i put my son example to other parents that we have to have faith in our kids. Thanks TECA!

TECA is proving to be a great choice for our family. My son is in one of the dual-language kindergarten classes and is thriving. He's made great leaps in learning just since the beginning of the school year despite having no prior Spanish. We chose TECA for the dual-language program and the daily arts "specials" classes. What is hard to see on a tour is the quality of instruction and we haven't been disappointed. His teachers are great and the new principal is fantastic- she thinks big while maintaining focus on the day to day. I feel very welcome as a volunteer in the school and there have already been quite a few school community events to allow us to meet other families. For example, we recently completed a small greening project in the kindergarten courtyard which has enhanced the school grounds and will be a great learning tool for the kindergarteners. We're looking forward to our son's future at TECA.

TECA is an extremely diverse school in students, families, teachers, and administration in terms of race/ethnicities, socio-economic status, religions or lack thereof, and the straight-gay spectrum. My GE kindergartner is learning a ton and enjoying it. His teacher is excellent. TECA provides an academically rigorous program balanced with great arts programing. Having a uniform makes getting out the door in the morning super easy. This is a school on its way up and great for parents and families who want to dig in and make things happen. If you want a big, all kinds of people place, this is the school for you!
