I graduated from NCS a few years ago and while I am thankful for my family's financial sacrifice for me to go here for 13 years, I do not think I would do the same for my children. A story about teachers: Once I was told by two teachers that I was annoying & that's why I didn't have friends. This was said infront of a few other students too. The teachers laughed at me and asked why I was crying, told me I was overreacting. I went & told another teacher and she was so sad for me and so angry. I'm not sure what came of it all, but the teacher that was there for me continued to be there for my spiritually even after I graduated. But the other two never apologized.I think I got a decent education at NCS, I worked hard and did lots of honors classes. You get what you put it in, just like other schools! There's a pretty good amount of accommodations available but also opportunity to step up and really get a lot out of your education there, in my opinion (outside educational events, lots of clubs, honors classes, tutors, etc).I was lower income than probably 90% of the school, which didn't bother me much honestly. Not sure the challenges that came with that for my parents though. The only time it bugged me was the pressure I put on myself, sinfully, to follow trends and look like others. But I was content thrifting my uniforms and being unique. As far as being a Christian school, I learned a lot about the Bible, Christianity as a religion, and theology, but I don't think I was truly saved until college. I was in a LOT of leadership roles while at NCS, but there was practically no accountability for my life. I was lost and in so much dark dark sin. Blind leading the blind. As an adult, I feel hurt that the adults/leaders there didn't help me or keep me from some public sin and humiliation. My heart was not stewarded well. But that was more the job of my family and my church than my school. From what I know my graduating class of roughly 100 students only around 30% appear to be actually following Christ at this point. Based off what I see in our lifestyles on social media and what I have heard in conversations directly with them.If you are looking for less drug/alcohol use, underage sex, physical violence, profanity, and immodesty than a public school, that is available at NCS. But those things are all still prevalent for sure, more than most parents would like to think unfortunately.

I had put my 14 year old daughter in this school, as we are a Christian family and have Christian beliefs. I wanted her to be close to God, not only that but to be surrounded by God loving peers. She was a Flex student, meaning she would do mostly online but go in-person during chapel. The three times she gone she had come back in tears. Talking about how unwelcoming and rude students and teachers alike were. She said she had tried to make friends, by talking to some of the the girls, and told me she was met by rude glances, and passive aggressive responses. She said this has happened with some of the boys there too. As a Christian myself, I am ashamed with their behavior. For the sake of your children, please do not put them in this school. It is not a safe environment for them to learn and grow. They will not learn Christ's teachings here.

This is not a Christian school. It has changed to a money hungry entity, that only promotes ‘donors’. This has become the stopping place for wealthy parents to dump their kids for the term ‘private’. Kids that could care less about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Bullying has become prevalent and nothing is done to stop it. The remedy was to ‘shake hands’ and move on, instead of solving the issue. Why? Money. It doesn’t stop there. Teachers have zero accountability for treating students with disdain. There is one there, (I will just say, with military experience) and he should NOT be a teacher. This isn’t a battlefield and he has no right to yell and treat students with disrespect. This is NOT ok. My daughter has been going there since kindergarten. Slowly the cracks started to show and by the time freshman year approached, we saw the real ‘NCS’. Transferred out mid-year after incident upon incident took place with zero resolution. Look elsewhere and save your money.

Although this school provides excellent education, their continued responses to suggestions for change or questions regarding administrative decision-making are consistently answered with clear disdain for the very parents who are paying exorbitant amounts of money to send their kids to that school. Children who are even a little different from the "norm" are bullied with zero action on the part of staff or administration. If you aren't ridiculously wealthy don't even bother trying to send your kid to this school. They and you will be treated as second-class citizens. And if you are wealthy, be ready to fork over plenty of "donations" to have your child (and you) be treated with even a modicum of respect. This is supposed to be a "Christian" school but it really is more like a school run by Pharisees. It's all about appearances. Look the part, be holier than thou and pretend to be perfect, you'll fit right in.

Not good thousands spent, should have put our daughter in a charter school.

We have been there for 15 years and my kids have built life long relationships and learned a ton academically but most importantly about their faith!Christian world view is of utmost importance!!

Average NCS gets a lot of things right but are getting a lot of things wrong too. For many years I personally just put up with the wrong because of what they got right. The pros and cons has changed for us so we left. Do not regret my choice to switch to public school. I believe the direction our local public school is going will have a greater success in my student getting mote scholarships in college than what would be available if we stayed at NCS. Tough problem for NCS because they do not have the funding and resources to help with college success. And by the way their academic counselor sucks and does not know how to do her job. Oh and she is a parent of a student getting free tuition too!

Awesome teachers and staff. We moved to AZ from MA this summer and have been thoroughly impressed with the school with the administration, and the staff. They deeply care about the student's education and spiritual growth. If you're serious about your child's long term success, our family would encourage you to look at NCS.

This is our first year at NCS. The administration is very helpful. It is so nice that my children can speak openly about their faith. It is very hard to "break in" for parents and children to make friends. I have been surprised at the tolerance with dress code violations, vulgar language and lack of leadership (professional example) from the teachers. I do believe most of the teachers have a genuine interest in the children. The curriculum has much lower standards than what we were use to. They do provide opportunities for students who are self driven, however, there is a huge emphasis on the social aspect of school. There seems to be a big support for sports. There are several electives to choose from that my children like. There needs to be less emphasis on "lifers" vs students who transfer. There is actually a separation in the yearbook. I would have expected more openness. I do think if you make an effort you will find your place, but it is not easy.

NCS is a wonderful school to send your children. The teachers are genuinely interested in the child's education and well being. They offer many opportunities for the students such as clubs, sports and volunteering abroad. They are excellent about keeping the parents involved and up to date with the students academic work and offer many suggestions to help the student succeed.

This is a great school! Great families, kids, administration, teachers and coaches. Speaking of coaches, we recently attended a baseball game against another Christian school in Scottsdale and after the game we overheard one of their coaches speak the most offensive things. He wasn't the head coach, just one of the dad coaches, but he was loud, vulgar and said very obscene things. We are very happy with our coaches here and to be apart of a school that upholds Christian values that extends to the athletic field.

We have 4 kids at NCS...that's a lot of tuition to pay for...and NCS is worth every cent! With an understanding that the title, "Christian", in a school name does not imply a sin-free campus, we are confident in the partnership we have formed, as parents, with the NCS staff to make every effort to create an environment of Godly guidance and accountability for our kids. They are taught academics from a biblical worldview and equipped to be critical thinkers. Prayer is what leads NCS on a departure from the world's expectations for a school and ushers NCS into the throne room of God. God is eager to be honored in a child's school experience, and God is honored at NCS!

We originally felt this a top-notch, Christ-centered school. It truly was! Sadly, with the current superintendent hired 3 years ago, came a steady decline in standards, extremely weak leadership, the departure of quality Christian coaches/teachers, disappointing, disorganized, ill-equipped athletic dept. leadership, etc. The HS environment has become polluted with students who have been empowered to make alarmingly poor choices w/no consequences or accountability for behavior. Many NCS students on social media (and in person) are vulgar, unregulated and out of control. If your family is looking for an expensive public high school experience in a small, gossip-filled environment, we highly recommend NCS. You will enjoy a lack of dress code enforcement, foul language, disrespectful students, pathetic role models for coaches, weak HS administrative leadership and healthy tuition increases each year. Based on the current condition w/in the heart of the school, we are choosing to invest our money elsewhere while protecting the character and honor of our children. This school no longer abides by the Biblical standards we live by, rooted in His truth and instead, is just like the world.

So, this will start out sounding like an infomercial for hair loss, but hopefully you will read on to understand my passion for Northwest Christian School. Here's the infomercial: Not only does my oldest daughter attend and my other two will, but I am also an alum from NCS. The education, social skills, teacher quality, administration, etc. are far superior to any other school. In fact, NCS rates #1 in Arizona in the Business Journal's Book of Lists. The most compelling quality NCS teaches is compassion and not just normal compassion, but compassion as taught by Jesus Christ. In my opinion, this faith-based school produces highly successful children with compassion for others. Don't take my word for it, do the research yourself - start with the Business Journal. No expense is too high for this top-rated education and they will even help you figure out how to afford the education where you may pay nothing for your child's tuition. My daughter's entire next school year tuition is already covered and we even have more to cover the year after that. Exceptional, exceptional, exceptional. If you want to be the exception and not the majority, then send your children to NCS

Our son has attended NCS for the past 4 years. We are so pleased with the Biblical worldview presented, partnership with great teachers, friendly office staff, and service oriented attitudes. Our son is encouraged to declare his faith in Jesus and pursue excellence. We highly recommend NCS to anyone looking to train up their children in a Christian environment.

Northwest Christian has been amazing! After one shadow day last year to explore the school, all 4 knew THIS was the school they wanted to attend! The decision was so important that we were contemplating 2 Christian schools 50 miles apart! We transfered our 4 kids from out of state, and have been overwhelmed with the welcoming atmosphere we received from students and faculty in the middle and high school. The teachers have found a way to relate to the kids at their ages, which is very important at this age group. The amount of ministry opportunites is fantastic and is amazing way to remind us all what God has called us all to do.

When my husband and I first came to tour NCS we actually when in think we would just pay the extra money to keep our son in Joy, but once we took our tour if the campus and pre-school we were absolutely 100% on bord with switching our son to NCS. I did not have to even think twice about it. From the minute we step foot on campus and met with Michelle you can just feel the closeness and the love of god. My son has been there for pre-k and now currently in kindergarten. He LOVES it there. The teachers and staff are AWESOME. To here my son talk about god and watch him grow is just AMAZING. I would not want him to go anywhere else. The only thing I have notice, meeting the first grade teachers is I did not get a great sense from all the teachers but they still were all really nice.

We checked out NCS and another Christian school before moving here last summer, and we immediately felt at home at NCS. My kids are in preschool and kindergarten, and it has been a great experience this year. I appreciate the strong emphasis on giving back and the service projects the kids have been involved in already. Michelle in admissions has been amazing and helped me figure out scholarships for the kids, and my kindergartener is bummed that school is almost over for the year because he doesn't want to have to take a break! We plan on sending our two younger girls in the next few years, and I'm glad that all four kids will be at the same school!

Our three sons grew up at Northwest Christian. So, I speak from 20+ years of experience. There is no better school for Christian parents to send their children. My wife and I discovered that as our children grew up what we prayed for most for our children is that they wait for that special spouse that God has reserved for them. The best part of the NCS curriculum isn't even part of the curriculum. It's all the examples of Godly marriage modeled by the faculty and administration. When staff talk about their spouse it's always with endearment. One of the teachers actually posts a running total of the number of days he has been married on the white board. Priceless in my opinion. Our three boys are grown now and married to wonderful Christian gals. Part of that success is because of NCS and how the school reinforces the Biblical values taught at home and at church.

Northwest Christian School I read an older posting about lack of warmth & compassion at NCS. Not true! The teachers CARE. The administration CARES. And of course the parents CARE or they wouldn't have their kids here. Yes, cliques are everywhere but ask most kids and parents whether they would want to be in an environment with christian cliques or worldly ones in some public school that may support everything but Christianity. If you want your kids influenced and educated by great teachers, in a safe, christian, academically superior environment with a strong christian world view NCS is it!
