This school is focused 50% on Spanish emersion, they do not have funding because the majority of District being tier 1, the principal plays fair with the district and does not advocate for more funding and wants to play fair with the district. If your child has disabilities and needs SPED or a 504 support this is not the school for your child. I have been dealing with this for years.

I’m not happy with one of the teacher in the school. She teaches 2grade class. She was rushing my kid to finish lunch because of she thought my kid food so oily ( smell). If our food is smell, she can write us the note, and we don’t let our kid bring it again, but she can’t rush my kid have to eat hurry. I’m not happy about that, if my kid eat too hurry and get problems, who is gonna respond for that.

Wonderful elementary school with fantastic teachers and an energized, responsive new principal. Also, the school has a much smaller enrollment after opening another elementary in the area, so that's great, too. Love our school!

Pros: School is very clean; hallways are quiet; classrooms are well lit and technology resources are great inside classrooms; library, gym, and music rooms are nice ; facilities are very well maintained.Cons: School climate is as cold as they get and unwelcoming to parents, which limits parent involvement greatly. My child has told me that he would no go back to school because teachers are sad and they argue and that children are not taught to be kind :(

I have a child in this school as of this year. My child's teacher and several other staff members have been great. My biggest problem at Riojas is that the area around the school is very unsafe in my opinion during school drop off and school pick up times. It's the not the schools fault. It's the parents.

The principal has been rude on several occasions. Having gotten some internal perspective confirms everything for me. My son's teachers' have been great though.

My child attends Riojas as a pre-k student this year. Everyone at this school has been so helpful and kind. Mrs Betz is the teacher, and has been amazing with communication via email, and in person. She also is perfect for these little ones as she teaches them so much, but comforting when they just need a hug, or are sad. She along with Ms Michelle have made our first experience with public school first rate!! The principal is always there greeting in the mornings, and I always see her doing things "hands on"! Love this school.

I now have had three students to have attending this school in a span of three years. We love the principal, and the staff. I know they're doing their best with what they have to work with. They do love teaching, however I've seen a big push on the STAAR tests this last year. They spend too much time teaching to the test, practicing for the test, mock STAAR tests, STAAR homework every week. It's ridiculous. It is super overcrowded as well, and will get worse before it gets better. My children are safe here, but I am sad at the level of education they are receiving.

My child went from making A's and B's at her other school in the same district to failing once we moved and she began at Riojas. I expressed my concerns to the teachers and staff but they dismissed my concerns suggesting my child should be tested for ADD. I told them she was passing the previous year and now she is failing which doesn't sound like ADD. This just goes to show they don't want to take responsibility in caring for a child's education.

The school is getting to many students for the building size, they are converting computer lab and other spaces due lack of space and resources.

Riojas is AMAZING!! Though we only attended for 7mths because of a relocation for my husbands work, it was by far the best 7mths. The teachers love the kids, are very dedicated to teaching them well above state standards. The principal and office staff could not be more friendly. Very organized drop off and pick up. Enthusiastic teachers for specials as well. Just love this school! We moved to a different school with in the state and my kids were 2 months ahead of the children at their new school. Highly recommend this school.

This school is amazing. Most of the time communication is great but there have been times where I didn't receive info on an event that required something from me like my attendance or an item the day before or two.

Riojas has BY FAR exceed our expectations. Our children's best interest is always number one with each of their teachers. The communication is OUTSTANDING. Could not be more pleased and feel more safe sending my little ones off to school.

I have never met a more dedicated group of educators that are committed to their students both in class and outside activities.

The school district made us move our son to this new school. We started the year there but moved him to a private school. They don't seem to know what they are doing. They like to have alot of fun but they don't teach the kids anything. The principal is nice but does not know how to run a school. I wish we had stayed at Murchison.

This is a Great school! what a difference from Murchison Elementary. Principal very approchable and friendly, easy to talk to and willing to cooperate with childrens success. Have a great teacher this year, she's so in touch with her role as a teacher and expectations as well as understanding of studens. I love it!
