We just didn't have a good experience. The learning expectations were extremely low, the teachers seemed burned out and no one really seemed to care. My child's classes apparently had loads of interruptions by a few troublemakers. She wasn't learning much, and she was becoming frustrated. We moved.

These reviews make zero sense. Dearing is not a "great" school. I'm shocked that so many think it is "great." The school looks nice, the building is on the newer side, but it ends there. It's ran terribly. The teachers range from okay to terrible. The admin couldn't care less, and the bullying that goes on is beyond heartbreaking. My child was being bullied for standing up for another child that was being bullied! They spoke to the bully, but nothing more. It got so bad that my child would come home and cry. This went on for weeks and the school did nothing. The bully didn't stop bullying. He apparently just moved on to a new target. It's awful. The teachers don't do enough teaching. Lots of worksheets, far too many movies, far too much fluff, etc. This all shows in the schools state test scores. Most of these kids are not grasping the material. My children are academically ahead (thanks to their previous school), so almost no attention is paid to them. I had to reach out to their teachers and request that they be given something to do when their worksheets are completed. They were just sitting there with nothing for large blocks of time throughout the day. The solution I was presented with? They both came up with the same: they can read a book. How about considering giving them more challenging work? Nope. No time for making specialized curriculum for any one student. What a joke. We are currently house shopping to get out of being zoned to Dearing. We love our house, but we can't stay here at the detriment of our children's education. Trust me, this is not a good school.

The school is great, and the staff is amazing. There have been some hiccups with a previous principal but that has changed. The school is engaging the families and community with the PTOs help with such events at Fall Festival and STEM Night. The start of COVID was a little rough but that was everywhere. Now the kids have gone on field trips and can do other activities they previously couldn't.

This school doesn't get enough credit. Everyone is under the impression that it's not as good as Rowe, but I think it's actually better. The teachers here are great, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the building itself is top notch. They have a wonderful enrichment program too. This school far tops anything in Austin ISD, which we had our kids in for years before moving here.

This is a great school. I have now had kids in 4 different elementary schools and this one tops them all. The principal is fantastic, she truly cares about the students and their families. Teachers are very good, the building and grounds are lovely. They are willing to go above and beyond to do what is needed for each student - and I've seen them be very creative in meeting special needs. I'm happy to be sending my kids here :)

Both my children attend this wonderful school! My daughter has a deadly peanut allergy and the entire faculty watches her carefully. This is very reassuring for me. I have seen significant improvement in her reading and comprehensive skills. I am so proud of her progress since starting attendance here. The gifted program is awesome and something my son has continued to maintain throughout middle school. Absolutely genuine, attentive, and caring teachers at Dearing!

We absolutely love this school! Our children are thriving and the teachers here are wonderful. There have been some changes to the front desk staff and there are now more friendly faces available to help in the front office. Principal Chandler is amazing!

My kids love this school! They were learning so much in their classes and came home smiling almost every day. I do have to agree though with an earlier review that the lady at the front desk isn't very polite. She's very condescending and always acts as if anything you ask is a total waste of her time. Other than that, we think the school is great. The principal was always so fun and easy to talk to.

This school is awful. The lady at front desk is rude... The kids there are untamed like wild beasts... bullying is permitted. Complain complain complain about bullying and nothing done.. Even the turnover of teachers at this school should be a RED FLAGAWFUL SCHOOL.

Mrs. Tan is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend her as your child's teacher. She's kind, loving and very patient. I couldn't of asked for a better kindergarten teacher for my daughter. I volunteered numerous times in her class room and it's fun to watch her teach and interact with the kids.
