I went to this school, it was lovely and had a nice community. The teachers were all polite and good at teaching, and it was very enjoyable.

The school is ok, but very unaccommodating for children with learning challenges. Equity is seriously compromised for students facing any type of learning difficulties. Their tendency is to avoid addressing any concerns or any inquiries about available resources for struggling students. This goes both for the school and for this district as a whole.

Prior to teaching at this school, I taught 3rd grade and it was a memorable experience but had to leave due to the more than a 1 hr commute. After working at this school a year, I was transferred to another school by the "lovely" principal that practices favoritism openly, where I taught for a year as well. I worked so hard at this school and was always the first one there at 6:45 am each day, but this clearly wasn't good enough because the veteran teachers didn't think I fit into their clique and complained about me. I got married and temporarily moved to the east coast and lived in two different states while completing my masters and worked as a sub in K-2 classrooms. I have been in public education for nearly a decade now, and this school hands down has been the only horrendous and traumatic place I worked at. Every school I go to usually has its ups and downs, but the teachers and staff (as well as parents) usually come together and support each other. This school was a massive amount of downs with the principal being unfair and biased (favored veteran teachers heavily so that they could stay there longer), and the staff members were so incredibly mean to the new teachers. The only staff members that I found were nice were those in K-1. I have so many stories to tell but all I can say is , please don't work here as a new teacher unless you have extremely tough skin and are okay with exclusion and a lack of support. And if I was a parent at this school, after knowing what the teachers say behind closed doors about their kids (it's heartbreaking), I would not allow my kids to attend here.

Amy Imai Elementary School provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for my daughter. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, making it a well-rounded institution.

My daughter attended Huff Elementary School in Mountain View, CA (it is now renamed) from 2011-2013. I had to pull her out due to her being physically injured (her lower and upper back )from girls who bullied her. We homeschooled her after this happened and she had chronic back pain for almost three years after the episode despite being in PT and chiropractic and massage therapy treatment during this entire time. My daughter did have a lovely kindergarten teacher and some of the other children and parents were wonderful however I would not recommend this school. They do not correct bullying when it starts and failed to protect my daughter.

Awful over 40 + years. They are marginally better now that google has some power over them. I think the teachers bend over backwards for school boards kids and googles kids and the rest of the kids can float in the wind.

This is review from a parent. This school is great. My kid learned in three different bay area elementaries (Cupertino, Santa Clara) and Huff is the best. We've been there for 4-th and 5-th grades. Principal is very responsive, all school activities are very well organized. My daughter started from ELD class and passed exam for regular class. Also I like how they keep ELD kids together with others, not like in other schools where kids are separated and they feel more like isolated and special in a wrong way. Something I don't like - our teacher in 5-th grade (Ms. M) - she was kind of too nice and soft with kids while in my opinion they need more pressure. Her behavior results in less motivation and lower marks. In 4-th grade teacher was completely different - Mr. Kahl. He was reasonably demanding and gave great motivation to my daughter. But anyway Huff was much better comparing to other schools.

Just FYI to new parents. The overcrowding is an major issue. The principal plays pass the buck with answering questions.. It is a he said/ she said game.. The average class size is 24 they claim but what they don't tell you is that they come up with this number by adding K, 1st grade and 2nd grade all together and then dividing. This makes NO SENSE as K is completely different than 1st and 2nd graders so how can they be averaged together. Right now there is a freeze on admitting new students to K and we parents have been told they will not add anymore even when they go up to 1st grade. We will wait and see what happens

I wonder if something has changed w/ the cohort in kindergarten. The classes are overcrowded w/ initially 28/class and now 26-27/class. Half of the kindergarten teachers are teaching their first year in public school--with overcrowded classrooms. Lots of aggressive behavior. School has a no tolerance policy for kicking/hitting incidents that result in injury. But kicking/hitting incidents that don't draw blood aren't even worthy of reporting to the parent because, per a teacher, they happen every day in the classroom and on the playground. This cohort also somehow ended up with an odd ratio of boys:girls 16:10-11 in each of the 4 classrooms.

Both my children attend Huff, and they have had a great nurturing environment with some great teachers and buddies. My daughter is a second grader and she already reads at 5th grade level, my son has excelled in Math and his teachers provided him the right incentives to do his best and excel. I highly recommend Huff. There is new principal and I feel she is taking the school in a better and right direction and has demonstrated effective leadership. A great example is that she took the right steps to ensure that GATE truly identified gifted students and not students who prepped for the test. The teachers are there because they like to teach and work hard with the students. There is accountability for teachers, some of the teachers who were not effective left Huff.

My six years at Huff has been amazing. The teachers were very open to communications with parents and in turn helped the child to grow individually as well as academically. My son was very happy kindergarten through 5th grade. The dedication of the teachers make Huff work well. The parent participation was 100% with a strong PTA.Amazing sense of community spirit within Huff School. The diversity is another added advantage for the school.
