Special education children are mistreated and should be looked into. The teahers and staff are the bullies here and principle just as much. They will cover up and sweep under the rugs everything they can.

My son started on his educational journey at Spring Run in Kindergarten. Given the disruptions caused by COVID-19 and his attendance of pre-K at home during this period, we were aware he faced challenges catching up. Despite our repeated efforts to engage with the faculty for support, the personalized teaching assistance we sought was not provided. In a meeting with his 1st-grade teacher, it was emphasized that no further interventions could be made unless he underwent an evaluation for an IEP. In response, we requested supplementary work for him to complete at home, expecting a moderate workload. Instead, we were inundated with an overwhelming volume of daily assignments, necessitating weekend sessions to keep up. Faced with this circumstance, we reluctantly proceeded with the IEP evaluation, only to discover the test results did not support the need for such a program. Throughout numerous discussions, it was acknowledged that our son lagged behind, yet no provisions were in place to facilitate his catch-up. We were informed that Chesterfield County standards necessitated his ability to independently pass the SOL, despite his below-average reading skills and the absence of adequate support. This educational struggle deeply impacted my son's emotional well-being at the tender age of 6. His sense of inadequacy and frustration is reflected in his statements about feeling unintelligent and incapable of handling the work. Observing a continuation of these challenges as he entered 2nd grade, my husband and I made the difficult decision to withdraw him from Spring Run after the second-quarter assessments. As a parent with two older children who have successfully navigated their educational journeys, this has been an unparalleled and distressing experience. School should be an environment that fosters learning and enjoyment, not a place where a child is left behind due to administrative constraints or statistical requirements. While I am familiar with the school setting through my older children's experiences, the lack of support and understanding for my younger child's needs at Spring Run has been disappointing. I believe that no child should face such hurdles in an educational environment, especially when the necessary support and attention can make a significant difference.

Our daughter attended Kindergarten-third grade and we have had the most positive experience every step of the way! The only reason we moved is because she tested for a gifted program at another location. We love spring run!

I went to this school K-5th and I loved it. The staff is so nice, going there felt like I was in a big family. They make sure everyone gets the education they need to go into middle and provide extra help for those who need it. They do a lot of fundraisers and they are very involved in the community.

Overall, while the county has vast resources, the assets lose tremendous value when underutilized or poorly deployed. That is my assessment of the principal and at least two of the teachers at Spring Run elementary in Chesterfield. With respect to the fact that educators are people and entitled to their opinions, firsthand experience for us has been that of 'haves vs. have nots' and deeply disappointing. There is unfortunately, no truer advocate for our children other than us as their divinely designated guardians and I highly encourage anyone who took the time to read this to 'Be the change you want to see', taking our county and educational leaders to task and ensuring fair and equitable learning opportunities for ALL.

I have two children enrolled at Spring Run Elementary school. We have had such a positive experience. The teachers and staff truly care about the students and their success. There is a overall school focus on STEAM and creative thinking, which I love. There are also many opportunities to be involved, which as a parent, I appreciate.

I feel communication is really bad at this school. If you don't live in a certain neighborhoods you want fit in.

This is my daughter's first year at SRES and I couldn't be happier with my decision to live in the surrounding neighborhood. Everyone to the staff and PTA are AMAZING!!!!

Could not be any happier with SRES! Teachers, faculty, administrators are all top notch. Great community of students and parents too. Quality instruction and happy kids. Mother of a 3rd and 5th grader who have both been at the school since kindergarten.

My son has been attending this school since 3rd grade, he is now in 5th grade. He had never attended public school before attending Spring Run. All the staff have been fabulous here and my son has continued to excel here. This school is an exceptional school with with exceptional staff and we are proud to be a part of Spring Run Elementry School.

This school could use some help. My daughter has fallen through the cracks at this school. I communicate often with the teachers and constantly ask for feedback, but I don't feel that I get what I need to truly help her. She had to repeat the 1st grade even though she passed everything but english. This devastated her. She has since been diagnosed with ADHD and a non specific mood disorder and its like no one knows how to help her. I have her medicated and she she sees a therapist, but I feel that the school continues to let her down. She is bullied and has even started self-excluding herself as a defense to it. I know that my daughter is no angel, but I feel that the school should be doing more to help her. It was extremely difficult to get her an IEP, and I honestly can't say that it has helped her in any way. Some of the faculty seem almost burned out without a clue on how to deal with my daughter. I just cannot say that this is a good school for children with special needs. I'm seriously considering pulling her out of Spring Run and giving her a new start at another school.

I am very happy about this school and its teachers. My kids have been challenged and the amount of work on behalf of the teachers to achieve this is commendable. This is the greatest school and I am so lucky to have my girls taught by such great educators.
