I am very impressed with the administration and teaching staff of Alberta Smith Elementary. I have a special needs grandson who, although certified Mensa, has a difficult time focusing on the task at hand in his daily regimen. The Principal, Vice-Principal, and teacher at Alberta Smith went above and beyond what could even be hoped for in acquiring assistance and guidance for my grandson, and this has made a very positive change in his attitude and behavior. Kudos, and much gratitude to them!
This was my daughters first year at Smith. She had a wonderful experience! I felt involved and I knew what was going on because of the monthly emails. I felt like the secretaries were pleasant when I saw them in the office. The phone system was annoying to listen to and the wait to speak with a human tried my patience. The administration was visible at all the after school events. We are very happy!

I moved out here from up north and I must say I am NOT happy with this school. In a matter of months, the school went from an 8 score to a 6! Very disappointing. The teacher my son has is not responsive to meet with me in regards to helping my son improve. I feel as though his lack of interest in school went down once attending this school. He loved going to school and now dreads it. What kind of teacher says "put your hand down" if a student needs to ask a question pertaining to classwork?? She needs to retire because she shows no interest in the kids needs . Oh and the grading system sucks in Chesterfield County! A recipe for failure!

Still a great school but am not loving the new parent pickup the new principal has inacted. The old method of picking your child up in the cafeteria vs. being blocked in in the the parking lot by the other parents who are picking their kids up in "the circle" is nothing short of chaos. you take your life in your hands trying to leave the parking lot. Loved Mrs. Horgan (former principal) but the teachers are still great and it is still a sweet little school.

I had two children attend K-5 at Alberta Smith. The administration and teachers are exceptional! I work within the school system and see on a daily basis how things run at other elementary schools. While the other schools are good too, ASE stands out as going above and beyond to meet the students needs. I am so thankful my home was in the ASE attendance zone. They gave both of my children a great foundation to move on with to middle and high school!
