Teachers need to actually teach and not just throw kids in a group without knowing what to do

I do not recommend this school or district. The core math and literacy curricula are outdated. They use a math curriculum that does not teach standard algorithms and does not encourage children to memorize their math facts. They also try to make it impossible for kids to take accelerated math. In order for a student to take Algebra I by 8th grade, they have to score in the 95 percentile in the entire state!!! So they make it insanely hard for your child to take Calculus by high school. Almost no other school district in the country makes it this difficult for students to accelerate in math. They also have no honors or accelerated classes in any subject. Is your kid gifted in English? Too bad...you have to go to class with all of the other students who can't read at grade level, since this district also doesn't use a phonics based curriculum.Almost all of the high test scores in this district are due to the fact that their are many wealthy parents in this district who are paying for outside tutoring for their children. They don't teach phonics. They don't teach grammar. They don't edit the papers that your child writes in class. They don't teach memorization of basic math facts. They don't teach standard algorithms. They actually believe that the teacher should take a back seat to teaching, while the students do all of their math work in groups.I do NOT recommend this district. It is definitely not worth the high housing costs. Buy in a cheaper district.

We have two children who attended Kromrey for the three years we’ve lived here. It is a beautiful school and the teachers we have had were excellent. It was rated much higher when we decided to move here (2018) and I’m actually really surprised at how much lower it’s been rated currently. There are many extra curricular activities available, though my kids chose to not get involved with most of them. I love that the 5th graders have opportunity to try 4 different languages- one per quarter and then choose one to develop the next year(s). (I didn’t start language until high school!) The school is built next to a conservancy and the library is two stories of windows next to lots of trees. Breathtaking.

Our family had a very good experience with Kromrey.

Overall, I would say that this school is a very good school. There are many advanced learning opportunities for students who excel, and the curriculum effectively teaches key concepts in science, math, social studies, and literacy. Most of the students are respectful, and it is a generally safe environment.

I have an 8th and 5th grader attending here. It's a beautiful environment to here in, both aesthetically and academically. The administration & teachers are quick to address any need or difficulty. I feel blessed to have this school for my children to learn in.

If your child excels at STEM, this is probably a great school for you. However, if your child is a good reader / writer, and you want them to continue in their development - RUN AWAY from this school - FAST! There are no accelerated services that meet this competency in the district (despite promises when you move here). The district is very closed to test scores and feedback from previous schools, and admin doesn't take the time to get to know students. The district uses outdated (and in some cases discredited) educational theory to guide its discussion on differential learning. If you're determined on coming - last word of advice - get everything in writing as stories will continuously change.

Unfortunately, we have found a lack of honesty and accountability from Percy Brown, who only seems to care about the Black kids. I wish they would be inclusive of ALL types of diversity and not just the Black-White paradigm. Middleton schools need more teachers and staff of color for sure. Lot of bullying too.
