Rude staff, with a dinosaur (unclear if he actually believes in them) for a principal who has no idea how to talk to parents in a respectful way

I currently have 2 children at HPCS and one graduated 8th grade last year. My expectations have been surpassed. My oldest, now on high school, was so well prepared intellectually, socially and spiritually for high school. I can't say enough about this school.

Please ask a lot of questions, talk to current families, and know what you are signing up for. If your child is not involved in any bullying type situations this school may be a great choice. It does have a strong Biblical background which we always found appropriate and life giving for our children thus making what happened in our situation so sad.

I would not recommend this school for my dog let alone my child.

The silver lining in our kids attending this school is that their hardships at HPCS built strength of character, perseverance in the face of rejection and adversity and the importance of setting limits regarding self-care.

I love HPCS. My family feels very loyal to it and has a long tradition of attending. My children have made lifelong friends here, and the sense of community is encouraging and uplifting. I would hands-down recommend it to anyone, despite my disagreements with the leadership. This does not make me want to change schools, as the benefits of Gospel-centered education far outweighs any poor administration choices.

Surpassed expectations with all four of our children. There is a strong sense of community at this school combined with caring and dedicated teachers who go above and beyond. Teachings are well-rooted with Christian values and celebrated throughout each day, all through the year. We have missed the Christian component at public schools and love that we can celebrate Christ, especially at Christmas time. The Christmas program the students put on is like no other. I cannot say enough good things about HPCS!

This school is awesome. I have had two children attend and would recommend it (and have) to anyone else. The constructive environment combined with the Christian values it teaches are the perfect foundation for academic success and development as a caring and productive citizen.

The academics really are great. The kids also are taught the bible. However I have not been pleased with most of the changes in administration & policies since 2009/2010. The school takes tuition but in addition requires 8+ hours of volunteer work serving hot lunches or an additional $250 for their hot lunch program whether you purchase any hot lunches or not. Their reasoning is that it is so that your child can use the lunchroom. Personally I would think that this should be covered by the tuition I pay. Fees are not included in the advertised tuition & are in fact greater than one month's tuition. I would rather have the full amount told to me up front so that I could make an informed decision. Fundraisers are frequent. There are competitions school wide putting pressure on the lower income kids from their peers to bring in more sales so that they can get a prize. Again, I would prefer being told the actual cost than be begged for more routinely. Both of my children were bullied regularly & nothing was done about it. Disciplinary problems have vastly increased & the administration seems to have moved away from personal responsibility & toward holding the entire class responsible.
