THESE REVIEWS ARE WORTHLESS. The sampling is far too small to be meaningful. The score can too easily be skewed by just a few negative reports. PLUS, there is no control of who can comment. For instance, I am a 81 year old resident with no children and here I am adding my opinions. Until the ratio of reviews to student population rises to a significant level (TBD—needs research) the section should either be hidden or a cautionary warning should be provided.

This school is completely infested with drugs. There seem to be little repercussions- perhaps the scope is beyond what the administration can control. The principal does not seem engaged at all. Much of the staff seems to just show up and do the bare minimum (there are a few exceptional exceptions). Teachers have slammed their car doors into other cars and just walked away, not caring if they damaged another person's property. Administrators have yelled at students accusing them of "faking" choking as the kid collapses on the ground. Maybe this is the fate of every public school, but it's not a safe environment, much less one conducive to learning.

It was a great school for our children! A great Band Program that teaches about “excellence” and teamwork as much as it does the finer points of music. The German program was also stellar. Thank you again to the Special Education teachers here and at Garrison Mill!!!!

Best 4 years of my life. All students are well behaved and those who aren't are felt with privately and efficiently. Great administrative group.

Both my kids did well at Lassiter for different reasons, one being uninvolved in extracurricular activities and the other being highly involved. The BIGGEST plus is that the teachers at Lassiter really care if the children learn and they make efforts to make it interesting and challenging. One of my kids was highly involved in band, and I DO recommend this avenue for any child who wants/needs an instant place to belong. I found the academics to be rigorous but not impossible, and we had an overall positive experience at this great school!

I am a senior at lassiter. I suppose it would be easier to separate into pros and cons. Pro: Great teachers who truely care about their students Pro: Supierior athletics and arts programs. They are better than any other in cobb, let alone the state. Pro: good academics, if your child is smart Con: if you are a football player, you receive immunity from pretty much any disciplinary action. Con: very cliquey. I have a good amount of friends, but it is hard to break into a friend group Con: lack of diversity. Pretty much all kids are from upper class families. If you do not fall into that catagory, you might be treated with disrespect. Overall, this is a great school if you are an upper class kid who is smart and gifted. But if not, you may be better off somewhere else, such as Pope or Kell.

My son was new and just started this year and for the first week he sat alone at lunch.None of the teachers or students stepped in to help him meet people. Also, on the first day of school he got an entirely new schedule so the Freshman walk through was for nothing. He had no idea where any of his classes were. I am not sure why that happened but I was upset. Besides that he is adjusting well to the academics i just wish the school wasn't so cliquey. It has been very hard for my son to make friends because everyone seems to already be paired up with their groups. I hope things improve soon for him in this area.

This school is a leader in many areas. I am happy to see programs ranked high nationally in these areas.

Lassiter is an extremely good school, and beautiful. It's mostly clean; the administration is absolutely proficient and commendable! The academic aspect of this school is exceptional. I'm not an extremely smart student, but i have a few AP and Honors classes and on the subjects that I struggle in I'm on level. If an on level class is too easy for you then you NEED to take an honors class to challenge yourself abit. The worst problems in this school is the drug use of the students. Practically half of the school, if not more than half, uses some kind of drug or drinks some kind of alcoholic beverage normally. And the social aspect... ufff... I wouldn't say people there are racist, I'd say MANY of the people that go there, of ALL races, look down on the other races. The school is made up of cliques and little/big groupies. The school is really very separated racially, but the teachers do a good job in staying neutral if THEY have racial issues.

The orchestra is fantastic. If you fit into the cookie-cutter mold, the school is great. "No bullying here"? Don't make me laugh. Even the teachers that wanted to help my daughter couldn't. She wound up transferring out instead of dropping out entirely. Instead of kudos for trying to help find her way back, she was questioned and ridiculed by guidance and her teachers. She found the other school, they didn't suggest it. Yet, the way the system is set up, she still has to get a Lassiter diploma. :( Teachers are on either end of the spectrum - not a lot in the middle; the principal that was there when she was concentrated on football. That the rest of it fell into place was luck, I guess. The PTSA is fantastic, and is the strongest point that the school has. So much potential wasted. Sad.

As a former student about to graduate from UGA this year I must say Lassiter was a great experience academically. I would consider myself an above average student and the teachers definitely treated me in this manner, thankfully I was well liked so no teasing from others. My only problem was the rampid drug/drinking problem. Teachers and security seem to never acknowledge the fact that a good chunk of the students were involved in drugs (as most school in Marietta suburbs) I just wish they would use drug dogs more or actually question kids via counselors of team coaches. AP classes were challenging but my on level classes were much to easy to pass and with minimal effort I could get A's (I'm not THAT smart). Average school, great community, subpar student body.

Lassiter is one of the best schools in the state of Georgia!! They have the total package. Great academics, sports, band, and principal! If you can move into this district you will get the best education!
