McCleskey is a great school and my child has done well here. I am so grateful that it is a small school away from the East Cobb bubble and pressure!

The front office could be more welcoming. Teachers were caring and effective; the academics were average. The band program is amazing, above average. My son experienced some bullying that wasn't handled well, but he learned to stay away from the offending kid. The school always felt safe and my child always felt safe at school.

2 daughters with one recent graduate have been to this middle school. The staff is great, teachers are very good and do their best. I cannot deny some issues with students (Some stupid teenagers troublemakers) but the administration took seriously each case. And the school does not offer a lot of activities that could lead to some boredom (Not the only one though). However, my 2 daughters have never been in trouble or experienced issues with other students. They had their different favorite classes and teachers. I would say this school deserves more like a 8 or 9 if only about staff and safety.

You will regret sending your child to this school. The administration is incompetent. My child has been assaulted multiple times and the administration acts as if it’s their fault. The teachers aren’t in control of the classroom. The school needs new leadership .

This school is the worst. The staff is disrespectful and does not care about the children. My kid has had someone spit on her push her and my kid is blind and needs protection she has had 5 incidents and she was the victim every time. She was threated several times THE SCHOOL DID NOTHING! The school instead suspended my daughter for feeling uncomfortable and making statements like I said the absolute worst school I can't wait to get my kid away from mccleskey.

The front office staff could be more caring, and have far less attitude.

I THOUGHT I was doing the right thing by sending my son to this school. My son has a 504 plan and we had a seemingly great meeting to discuss his needs in the beginning of the school year. It was discussed previously the conditions and diagnosis my son had. I went to greatschools.com and based my decision on choosing this particular school off of those reviews when I obviously should’ve checked google reviews instead; now that I see they are more accurate based on my short-lived experience. I had such high hopes for my son’s success And progress at this school but unfortunately, I was wrong. After giving extremely detailed information regarding my child, being more active than most parents, and handling every situation brought to my attention regarding my child; he was ultimately being set up for failure, INTENTIONALLY. He had one issue that I would consider a big deal and it was handled. Unfortunately, he became a target after that. Knowing that he has ODD and ADHD, these people would call me EVERY WEEK (sometimes more than once per week) with the smallest issues that could’ve easily been resolved IF my instructions given in the 504 plan meeting were followed, but they weren’t. I believe that their goal was to write him up and suspend him for the most ridiculous things in attempts to have him sent to alternative school (which I had no idea about until I transferred him). It had gotten to the point where these people would email (not call) with horrible tones to tell me my child was suspended from school. I ALWAYS answer my phone, so there was no excuse. My opinion is if you have a child with any behavioral or mental disabilities, find a better, less discriminatory learning institution for you child. This place and most of the staff here aren’t built to help your child succeed when they have these types of issues. Their solution is to find a way to get them removed instead of finding ways to help them.

McCleskey is now STEM CERTIFIED! The culture is one of caring and school spirit. There is a great need for parental involvement. Both of my kids attended the school and the teachers are terrific!

Bad experience. Many of my neighbors relocated over the summer to avoid this school. Administrative staff are not involved until it’s too late, school isn’t STEM certified, students are extremely disruptive and bullying is a problem here

First of all, we arrived here from New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. We lost everything but our pride and ability to start over. Right here in Cobb County in the Blackwell, McCleskey, and Kell school district is truly where the love is. They were very supportive to the highest level. I love the teachers and their assistants that works just as hard to make it an upscale learning environment. McCleskey's counseling department and band teachers are the best! I am still raising kids until this day through those schools. My last ones that are in Blackwell and already wears McCleskey and Kell Longhorn gear and wouldn't trade it in for nothing. I currently have a football player that just left McCleskey on the way to Kell now and one student already there soon to be a senior. My older ones which came up through those schools are already taking on that game of Life. Two of them are currently serving in The United States Navy! They also once was proud McCleskey Dragons. This school is a 10plus in my book!

My son attended to McCleskey for his last Middle School year and we are very happy with the school and the educational opportunity offered there. We moved to the area for the schools. All of his teachers responded with a great show of support for him and our family and very soon my son was on track. I hope the school and staff is as wonderful when my two younger kids who is on Elementary now, arrives at McCleskey... Great School!!!
