I’m happy that my son likes his school and he is doing so much better and he feels safe. At first I was a little concern with the percentage of African American student bc there are only 6 or 7 percent students that are black but it didn’t make any difference. He haven’t gotten any problems at all and the teachers are wonderful

This school places a ridiculous emphasis on sports. It overwhelms the communications from school, the social media, and public student celebrations and accolades. There is not enough diversity in elective options. The school schedule changed daily, which is incredibly hard to keep track of. Worse, transportation doesn’t flex with the schedule on all days, so kids without a parent available to taxi them around need to sit in the auditorium for an hour waiting for bus service. The school is incredibly crowded, with the hallways stuffed shoulder to shoulder during passing periods. The bathrooms are DISGUSTING. There is an anonymous shminstashram account dedicated to the horrific state of the bathrooms, both in deferred maintenance and in student disrespect. If you can find that account, that is, amid the overwhelming emphasis on the omg sports. I would have NEVER enrolled my kid at Pope had I found those disgusting pictures first. This school’s administration will “uh huh” and “I see” thorough a 504 meeting, acknowledge that some teachers are already providing the supports you’re requesting, and then deny the 504 because the unofficial, sporadical, and inconsistently applied provided supports are juuuuuust enough that your student isn’t failing. Yet.Pope is dismally average, unless you are a high achiever with a tiger mom or an athlete. Woe be the teenager who is just struggling to get through being a dang teenager. One bright shining start in this whole mess has been the counseling department. If your child is struggling and you reach out for help, they WILL move mountains and find resources and loopholes to help you make it though to the other side. It’s just too bad your kid has to scrape the bedrock before they can get attention. Don’t even get me started on the school board!

Zero. Every year we regret not switching to private or going the Magnet route. It’s shocking Pope is so highly rated. Also those high SAT ACT scores are mostly due to tutoring or significant efforts at home. We can’t wait to be out of Pope!

Both of my children attended Pope and we could be more pleased with the experience. Both of my children blossomed and thrived at this school. It has been really great for our family. It's a private school level education in a public school.

We've been really pleased. It's not as large as some of the others, which I like. Great place to grow up and find your passions!

My son just graduated from Pope and we had an excellent experience in all areas. This school has a great academic level and prepare kids very well. Go Pope!

I graduated from this school last year and could not have asked for a better experience. The education is top notch, offering rigorous courses. Yet at the same time, they are more than willing to help with accommodations if necessary. The school is not as cliquey as you would expect. Yes, there are some preppy kids, but they are only one group of the student body. For pep rallies, the entire school comes together as one, no matter what "clique" you identify with. I can't remember a single teacher I did not like during my four years at this school. This school has prepared me well for college and I am already considered a sophomore because of my AP exam grades, which I would not have gotten without the instruction of my dedicated teachers. Thanks Pope for the memories!

I attended this high school for 4 years. I did not graduate. I would have had to stay another 2-3 semesters in order to graduate. I gave this school a rating of 4 stars because it is a great school, if you are a "run of the mill" learner. I had to learn by doing and experiencing. Teachers were limited on their knowledge of how to teach different students. I felt judged by my teachers constantly. I was not preppy and did not fit in with the rest of the student body. That has served me well as an adult but as a teenager it is a curse. With the exceptions of less than a handful of teachers and 1 administrator I felt misunderstood and felt as if nobody cared if I graduated or not. I feel as though maybe they were relieved when I left. I had a turbulent home life and instead of asking me if anything was going on at home the teachers would take the easy way out and send me to ISS or OSS. I think Pope would greatly benefit from more diversity in the school and extended training or education for their teachers.

Passionate educators, diverse staff and student body, and many strong extra-curricular clubs and programs. The music program is demanding but excellent. It was the highlight of our son's high school experience. Pope has provided a fantastic foundation for our kids.

We love the academic and sport opportunities the school provides to our kids. They have a great variety of classes going from level, honors, accelerated, AP and the STEAM program. Great teachers and good kids. We love it.

My son went to Pope. He is now a senior in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech. Pope's math program is especially strong, and the AP Calculas classes (A/B & B/C) are amazing (almost the entire class scored 5's). My son exempted Calc 1 at GT and made strong A's in his other 4 maths because of the top notch instuction of Mr. Sorenson at Pope. He received a solid background in all subject areas. His counselor, Ms. Sax, was wonderful. Thank you Pope for preparing my son!

Like many parents looking to move to Atlanta we focused on east Cobb . We were looking first at walton district then added pope zones because no houses came up in walton zone. Our child has just started at pope and we are so impressed by all aspects of the school. I am convinced pope will provide a quality rounded education. The teachers are top notch and the facilities are outstanding. Above all we have a very happy child.

Pope has been a great fit for our older child. She has thrived in the environment which is friendly but also academically challenging...which she needs to prepare for college. The advanced coursework is on point for those needing the stretch but I know the support is there for those that need it as well. Great school!
