An awesome school with opportunity and staff that treats each child with respect and kindness. My children have been here for 2 years and love it and all the activities.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. From the upper administrative staff down to teachers is less to be desired to be working in an educational environment and there's a pattern of unfairly singling out students and access unfair punishment. Teachers are there only for a check and to welcome Fridays no real interest in the students or their learning. But as the saying goes an employee can only be as good as the employer by example.

Horrible. Staff protecting staff. Kids being picked on and singled out. Never have I ever experienced a school in a good district handle situations so poorly.

Was disappointed at recent family event about how people were allowed to dress around the students. Staff, parents, volunteers, and family of staff should be advised about what is appropriate attire to wear at school and other school events. As adults we set the standard.

The teachers are wonderful however I feel that the problem is the parents. The children are disrespectful and it shows in the classroom. Two of my kids went there and I am so glad to be in a new elementary this coming school year. Parents...Raise your kids right!

I like the school especially Mrs. Harbin she is very professional and understanding principal. I have had my son at Duryea for Kindergarden; do not like his teacher. She is seems to not loving and very tough on my son! I compare her to my sons previous teachers and she is the very opposite!! My son and I miss his old teachers very much!!

My daughter 1st year at Duryea was last year. I'm not impressed and I feel that the majority demographic is catered to at this school. There isn't a lot of parent involvement becuase they advertise that Thursday is the day for volunteers. This is a turnoff for any parent that can volunteer any other time except the requested Thursday. The classrooms still seem to be a bit overcrowded especially for the tiny classroom setup they have. I recently noticed the campus goals on the website and it's all a lie especially the goal about hands on science. My daughter loves science and she was very disappointed last year. Deep Reading/Compelling Writing Student Safety/Positive Behavior Strong Problem Solving Hands On Science Integrated Technology/Engaging Instruction Higher Level Thinking Parent Involvement None of this is going on at Duryea.

Unfortunately there is very little parent-school communication. Teachers seems great, but PTO was non-existent, very few to none activities. Wish we could move back to Walker, where the principal was very involved and the school had numerous activities, parental involvement, and the education provided was exceptional. When asked about school activities, school uses the excuse that parents are not involved, however, I went a whole year without ever being asked for anything and I gave over 50 hours of volunteer time to the middle school last year, so I'm sure I would have found time for the elementary school and work my full time job as well.
