Staff does not appreciate or welcome parent involvement at any level. One example: in six years of going to PTO meetings I have never seen one school staff representative attend. The culture is very anti-parent from the top down with teachers feeling they can't lean on parents for fear of retribution from the Principal. Staff and teachers create a physically and emotionally domineering environment for students. Teachers receive little support from staff and take it out on the students. Special Needs students do not receive the assistance they need. Parents must fight very hard to even attempt getting support for their child, only to be told no in the end. My favorite reason was "your cold does not qualify" without being able to explain why the child does not apply. Example: unable to qualify for Summer School despite failing grades; while a sibling with passing grades received an invite to Summer School. Two of my children experienced bullying from teachers. One teacher flipped a table in anger during class.

I would never have my child at this campus.

I believe in first impressions and Andre's staff are friendly and approachable. Andre is the first school that I've see so much staff involvement with parents and students.

We have had positive experiences with Andre. The teachers are caring and effective , and communicate well with parents. Parent involvement has increased since the re-zoning and parent volunteers are on the campus on a daily basis. The PTO membership has increased and PTO and the school have fun and educational events for the students and also the entire family. Overall I am very satisfied my children are at Andre.

After teaching in Cy Fair, I am aware of how high the expectations are in the district. This school has caring and amazing teachers and staff that go above and beyond. The school is always holding events and family involvement nights. Even their curriculum night was set up like a fun scavenger hunt where the kids could earn prizes and treats for just coming. They are always so excited to go to school.

My children had a horrible experience at this school. Meet the teacher night was a nightmare. My kids have been bullied since day 1 of attending. Staff really doesn't do anything to prevent bullying. The amount of homework my fourth grader get is completely ridiculous. He spends about four hours a night doing homework. I talked to his teacher about it who told me that it was district policy. Well, it's not. I spoke to parents of other CFISD schools and what's happening is they aren't getting the required workload done in class due to some discipline cases. My 2nd grader complains about the children always talking back to the teacher and getting in trouble. How do you learn in an environment like that?

Very disorganized and unprepared. The staff is rude and unprofessional. Sadly we are going to the school this year. Luckily for me though we only have a pre k student attending here. And next year will qualify for the Charter School which my other children attend. Public schools are absolutely ridiculous and Andre is a perfect example of why more more parents are choosing private or alternative education for the children. I do not consider public schools safe or adequate for any of my children. Andre elementary actually expected my 4 year old to know his way to his class which required him to make four separate turns down four separate hallways in order to arrive there. Just absurd!

When we first moved to this area, this school was very good. It had a great mix of socioeconomic levels and demographics. Unfortunately, just before our daughter started Kindergarten, CFISD redistricted the 'high dollar' and gated communities across the street to a new school up Fry Road and added more depressed communities to Andre. This resulted in a drastic increase in ESL and disadvantaged students. I have to give credit to the staff for their efforts, however, because the student body changed so drastically, the Horizons students have suffered the consequences. They are now relegated primarily to tutoring low-performing students instead of enjoying more challenging work. This means that they are bored and tend to get lots of notes home about stuff bored kids do, as well as Think Path (Seriously? Kid is bored and antsy and you take away their only free play? How does this make sense??) and other disciplinary measures (unless you are fortunate enough to have a GT teacher who actually understands GT kids). Due to the insane focus on test scores combined with a student body that requires a lot of remediation, I have to say that this school is not what it used to be.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My children are great students, and they used to enjoy school everyday. However, after locating to this school district and being assigned to Andre Elementary, their love for school has suffered immensely. Extremely rude staff, highly rigid rules and exaggerated stress put on students for tests has stripped my children of their love for academics, and they now dread going to school everyday. "Private Dining" (aka: eating alone) and "Think Path" (aka: walking during recess alone in the hot Texas sun) is overused. Frankly, I would liken this school to a correctional facility. It absolutely breaks my heart. I would like to add that we have tried to fix the situation(s), however, our pleas fall on deaf ears of the staff of Andre Elementary. If you care about your child's deep love for education and caring staff, I strongly urge you to check out this school several times, and talk with parents who send their children there. There will be much work ahead of me to re-instill the love of learning for my disheartened children.

My son has attended Andre for three years and has improved significantly with both reading and math curriculum's that the school offers. He enjoys going to school and his teachers are passionate and dedicated professionals who care about their students! Kudos to Ms. Kile, Ms. Herndon, and Ms. Gonzales who have moved my son to the next level in social and academic skills.
