My children are having a great experience and thriving at St. Joe’s. The staff, teachers, and principal truly care about each child - not just their education/grades but their whole self. They’re getting an excellent education, deepening their faith, and creating meaningful friendships and relationships with their peers, priest, teachers and staff.

The school is in disrepair, the classrooms are multi-age, the teachers are not energetic, and safety is of concern, yet the tuition is quite high comparatively. There are other Catholic schools in the area that offer much more for the same price or a small amount more. There are evident reasons the enrollment fell at this school and has not hit the same level.

The new principal Sandy Ford is STELLAR! She makes the education, care, and safety of our students TOP PRIORITY. This principal has done amazing things in her short time here. While this school cannot provide extensive help for those with special needs, they go over and above for all families, with success for each child being the goal. I highly recommend this school for Catholic Education.

Sadly, the school is not worried about the needs of all learners. If your child is below their peers, the principal does not want to put support in place. She seems somewhat confused about running a school. I would look at other more sound options in the area, as there are more well-rounded Catholic sand public education options.

Our children have found their stride at St. Joseph. They are thriving as students in the classroom and children on the playground, even on the toughest of days. The social/emotional and educational aspect of St. Joe is top notch. As a family we have found a wonderful community of friends and parents who are supportive of each other. The staff is amazing and the academics are held to the highest regard. We love the small class sizes and attention to detail through every subject. The addition of Father Gary and other staff members has brought new life to the school. Without a doubt, this school is providing an wonderful education and everyday life experiences accompanied with the faith, morals and values we want for our children to grow with and use in everyday life. When they say it takes a village, we are thrilled to be a part of this one.

This is a wonderful parish school. The administration is focused on a Christ centered education, and preparing students to be successful in high school.

St. Joseph Catholic School is much more than a school. It is a community that feels like one big family. When you send your children to St. Joseph school you are not just getting a great education but also friends for life. Our children are well rounded from math, to science, to religion, and so much more. They learn about trust, friendship, beliefs, and values all while gaining confidence in themselves. There are many role models for the kids to look up to from teachers, to staff, to Fr. Gary. Each playing a role in your child’s education. Our kids walk the halls knowing every single persons name from Pre-k to 8th grade, along with staff and parents. It’s a wonderful community to be apart of. Thank you St. Joseph School!

My kids have been going to St. Joseph school for the last 10 years. The school has gone through many difficulties throughout this time. Many positive changes have been made and they continue to work toward improving the school. The teachers are extremely dedicated and a great example of faith for the students. We have an incredible priest, who is very involved with the school. My children have gotten an excellent education, scoring very high on their HSPT (high school placement test). I would highly recommend St. Joseph to any family.

My 3 boys have thrived here for 5 years. This is a community of Christ. Children are nurtured to be academically sound and are guided by the staff to embrace their Catholic faith values in everyday life. The school truly is working with us in our parental goals as our boys develop successful academic skills while becoming Christian men! Thank you St Joes!! We love this school, Mrs Doyle, and all of the staff!!

Earlier negative reviewz are from parents who had an issue with the previous principal. This is a fantastic school for my children. The staff is helpful, the teachers are fantastic and the new principal has been great. Our children are happy to go here and we are happy with the education they are receiving. If you are looking for a school in Howell this is the best place to send your children.

New principal Susan Doyle is already making major changes, the changes are bad for students but good for the school's bottom line. Some teachers are teaching 3 subjects. The music teacher is teaching music, religion, and math. Not acceptable. Enrollment continues to drop. VERY SAD

As a longtime parent of this school, I pulled my child out this year as I didn't like the direction the school had gone under the direction of Principal Judy. Boy what a difference to be in a school that values consistent discipline, and academics. When my child was tested after leaving St. Joseph she/he tested well below benchmark standards in reading and writing but now after 8 months of a positive classroom and great staff he/she is at grade level for all academics. St. Joseph did not give my student any standardized tests so I had no way of knowing how he/she measured up to grade level standards of achievement. I am so glad I left St. Joseph despite missing so many nice families that I have gotten to know over the years. .

My daughter attending this school years ago and it was by far her best year. My son attended as well and loved it. He left for a few years and came back recently. Unfortunately, there is a new administration. Things have changed...and not good changes!! It is taking everything I have to allow him to finish this year. The principal...she is rude, unfriendly, and extremely lacking in personal skills. She also has a very dry demeanor. The behavior blue cards they have to carry are absolutely ridiculous! My son is not perfect but overall is a good kid. Some of the things that he has had his blue card signed for are completely unnecessary and again ridiculous. Nothing more than him being a boy. I am beyond disappointed with the school overall and can't wait for the school year to be over.

I thankfully just graduated. When i attended st. joseph's last year i hated it.I hated waking up every morning just because i knew that when i walked through those doors i would be yelled at for something. en ever we did something wrong we would get circles on our blue cards. after five times of being told what terrible students we were, we got to attend worship wednesday. where we prayed for punishment and yet again were told if we kept making little mistakes that we would get no where in life. i think st joes should highly consider a new principle that actually is pleasant and kids look up to.
