When I found FlexTech I thought it was too good to be true. I visited the school several times to include tours and a Project Showcase. I had my child shadow as well. I was still skeptical. How could I be fortunate enough to find a truly supportive learning environment. I took the leap and enrolled my child. Two years later and I am blown away by the level of commitment I have seen every staff member at this school demonstrate. FlexTech integrates compassion into their teaching standards. Yes compassion! This compassion allows the students to blossom. It builds a sense of security and confidence which in turn creates a safe environment where they can express themselves, be creative and engage in collaboration. They actually enjoy the process of learning and discover who and what they want to be. The academic and emotional support provided is tailored to the needs of each student and is exceptional. The students are encouraged to pursue their passions. The school promotes tolerance and acceptance. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. It has exceeded my expectations. I’m so grateful we found FlexTech. Renee Anderson

If you could take 2 down syndrome adults and put them together, essentially you’d have better leadership than what is here. It’s subpar at best. No protection against bullies. Pathetic non effective policies for combating problematic adolescents. Leadership only cares about getting more students.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Flex-Tech. Background: I lived in San Diego and had my kids on a wait list for almost six years to get into two similar project-based schools called High-Tech Middle and High-Tech High. Their learning model is highly regarded because it is proven to better develop and educate young minds. Even the most affluent of SoCal want their kids in these schools (hence, the ridiculous wait list). These schools are equally--or even more sought-after--than the many excellent private schools with ivy league teachers on staff. Well, we moved to Brighton, Michigan and I stumbled upon Flex-Tech when trying to find a similar model. When I spoke to the administrators at FlexTech, they immediately recognized the city we came from... You know why? Because they had visited those SAME San Diego schools and built their entire Flex-Tech program around them! I couldn't believe it! We only had to wait a few months and when my kids finally got into Flex-Tech I cried actual tears of happiness. My daughter started as a freshman and is a junior now; my son just graduated. They come home every day excited about their projects and we have fascinating, intellectual discussions spurred by their Flex-Tech lesson plans. They are now EXCITED to go to school, excited about learning, and actually retain everything they are doing instead of just memorizing test answers only to forget the material a few weeks later.I can't say enough wonderful things about the faculty. I have never seen teachers more dedicated to the success of each and every child. I have never seen teachers who try harder to understand each child's learning style and to tap into each child's own individual passion. The level of education and support we are receiving is like nothing I have ever seen (and we have lived in SoCal, Europe and throughout Michigan so that is saying a lot)! One final thought that I think paints a good picture: When my son graduated and had to say goodbye to his advisor, he welled up hugging her goodbye. His tears came from having to say goodbye to someone who was instrumental to his success and who helped him through tough times. His advisor helped him with everything from stress management to resource planning to college admissions. I love FlexTech High School and so do my kids. Recommend highly.

I attended Flex Tech for several years and it was not a good experience. Most of the teachers only focused on the kids who didn't need the extra help and left the kids really struggling to fend for themselves. Most of the staff played extreme favorites and only gave special oppurtunities to their favorite students. Teachers here are very biased. For example, some students were allowed to go completely off the wall with their projects and would get 4.0's but if another student who was not liked by the teacher did a similar project, they would MAYBE get a 2.0. This school claims to be a school that is extremely anti-drug, helps students with mental problems, and have excellent staff. While most of the staff were kind hearted people and very understanding, the rest of the experience here was awful. There were several instances where kids were caught with all sorts of drugs and the school either did nothing about it or only moved the kids to Friday classes for three weeks then let them back in. This school does an okay job with helping with mental problems, but there were several instances where I was clearly having severe mental issues and got yelled at, belittled, or even had a teacher roll their eyes at me for having these problems. I knew a girl that had a teacher who told a couple of her friends not to hang out with her because she was a "bad influence" when clearly, she was not. Do NOT send your child here unless they have a very high IQ and are a teachers favorite because those are the only students who will thrive here. Even the over achievers will not thrive here unless they are a teachers favorite.

The experience our student has had at Flextech is beyond what we ever imagined a high school experience could be. The staff , class selection, community service, duel enrollment, art, culinary...everything about this place is positive. We are so thankful for the hard work that goes into creating a place like Flex Tech! Thank you!

I've been going to this school as a freshman and I am finishing my junior year. It's been a great three years and I'd highly recommend this school to anyone looking for education that doesn't suck.

This school is exactly what my son needed. He is doing better than he has in school than he has over the past few years. For many years I've tried to get my son to talk about what he is learning and I get nothing. He talks more about school now and what he is learning without me asking...this makes it worth being late to work everyday to get him to school. His teachers are also great and are available when ever you need to get an update on how things are going. Overall Im happy with the choice to remove my son from South Lyon schools and never look back.

The teachers here really are great! They are motivated, and show compassion with the students. They often use outside the box teaching ideas, which keeps the students interested and motivated to learn.
