I’ve really enjoyed my years at BHS! Before High School, I was an all A’s student, and my freshman year, I found that I had to step it up and put in more work and effort they maintain my good grades, but my teachers have been very accommodating, many of them reaching out to me when I was struggling, with the content, or with work I missed when I missed a lot of school consecutively. The counselor’s are very helpful, and all the teachers I had were amazing, and made each class interesting. I haven’t really noticed much bullying during my 4 years here, but when I have, it never lasts long as the staff helps resolve the conflict, and they also reach out to students who are mentally struggling, and dedicate a week to mental health awareness each year. Overall, I’d recommend the school, as it has prepared me well for college, and it’s been a lot of fun!

Two of my kids attended Brighton schools. One graduated from here and the other did some HS before moving to a different school. There are pros and cons to sending your kid here, One of mine did good the other average here, so I am neutral. The elementary & 5-6 buildings were great! The middle school 7/8 was a horrible experience. The high school is excellent is you are from the area (ie, parents, grandparents, etc went here), have a lot of money, are white and are part of the accepted and highly exclusive social cliques. The principals at the high school are the best that I have ever encountered. They are personable and seem to understand and try to do everything that they can to help out. If you have a 504 kid or special needs kid be prepared to fight for them daily, otherwise they WILL fall through the cracks. The teacher that you get for a subject will make or break your grade and ultimately your GPA. English and history are so, so here, go online. There are some excellent teachers and there are terrible ones too, like everywhere. This school is superb for cookie cutter learners that can sit and listen for 8 hours straight, juggle an additional 2-4 hours per night of homework, and are on a track for STEM. There is an excellent performing arts and band program here. Someone above mentioned that most A/B students flunk out here and I will say that it is true, but it is not due to the other kids being of superior intelligence, but because they get the better teachers, and are probably a teacher's kid, friend's with the teachers, or have parents that are ON TOP OF IT who communicate with the school regularly. Unless your child is super self-motivated, do NOT send them here. As far as athletics go, they tend to honor the boys more than the girls. The kids who make Varsity are sometimes not the most talented, but the most popular. If your 9/10th grader makes Varsity be prepared for jealousy bc some have been raised to believe they are better then they r. They at times hire club coaches who have been known to favor their sometimes less-gifted club kids to push them ahead. This can mess with even the most gifted athlete, so if you chose to go here, please keep that in mind. There is a lot of nastiness especially if your kid is talented in academics, athletics, is good looking and not from this town, move them to Hartland quickly, their life will be more challenging here. So it depends on what you are looking for, but it's an average school experience overall.

Good school. Teachers are nice. Food quality is actually good for a school. Nice facility. Was a great place to go to school. I don't understand all these reviews about teachers being "bad and screaming at students" I have never seen any of that after spending 4 years here. (and graduating) Success at this school requires students to be actively engaged in class and doing required homework. Teachers are really nice and really care for their students. I have had many teachers here who i want to keep in contact with. School does a good job of preparing kids for college. BHS also does a great job supporting students with learning differences or learning disabilities. Principals are good and it is a great place for students to go.

The education my kids received at Brighton High School was excellent. One of my kids has excelled beyond belief in the nursing program in college and attributes much of her success to how prepared BHS made her for the real world.

Many are upset that their A/B student become C/D students at Brighton; however, the expectation for Brighton students is higher than others. Teachers and counselors communicate well, and want the best for students. It is a very competitive environment, but students and staff work hard to make sure the students love learning. AP classes are amazing, the school's renovations are beautiful- and graduating from Brighton High School means a lot more on a college application than most other schools. Enroll your kids here- you won't regret it!

Brighton High is not the place to send your children. I have been a student at Brighton for two years now and i am ecstatic to be changing school districts. I believe that if parents came through the school with their children and the teachers were not phonies the parents would want their children out of Brighton immediately. An overall summary of Brighton would be low quality food, teachers that offend kids verbally and throw things at students, and a dirty place. Recently i had a friend come to Brighton and the first thing they asked me, was if Brighton was a jail before it was a school.

The demand for higher standards has led to curriculum reform that requires more from the students, the teachers, and the parents. Students cannot simply "skate through" their classes anymore and expect to receive high grades. BHS--a school that has always prided itself on exactly how well the students are prepared for life after high school--is now doing even more for their community of learners. The new technology implemented this year has been fabulous, and it provides additional ways to engage the students in the lessons. The teachers continue to go above and beyond for their students. Those who need extra help--and are willing to seek it out--have many, many options available to them. This is a school that cares about its students, hands-down.

Could stand a good cleaning. I'm so disappointed in the teachers as well as the counselors, very difficult to get responses to phone calls and e-mails. I find it very strange that my A-B student is all of a sudden a C-D student and what makes it worse is that NOONE seems to be alarmed by this sudden drop. Also in my opinion the teachers shouldn't picking favorites, yelling and screaming at the students and Should be answering questions when asked. No wonder my students grades have gone down.

BHS is a far better school now than it was in 2008. New administrators and a new Director of Operations have cleaned up across the board. They are well respected. Many ineffective teachers have now retired. School spirit is excellent. Students with problems adjusting to a structured school now have a well designed alternative school within the district. A large bond was passed which is facilitating a huge host of improvements in the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts , renovation of restrooms in the high school, athletic fields throughout the district, etc. The opportunities for serious music students , instrumentalists, vocal performance majors, and musical theater are excellent.

I love Brighton High School! They offer a vast variety of A.P. and honors classes that allow you to accelerate your education and I've had a great experience with the teachers. My calculus teacher is the best teacher I've ever had! There also is a great selection of extracurricular activities. Students even have the chance to start their own clubs (i.e. the Green Group). The musical theater and choir programs are outstanding! The school is so large that I've never had a problem finding a "group." You are guaranteed to find where you fit in with such a big student body. GREAT school! I'm so glad I went to Brighton! And as always...GO DOGS!
