Just an overall awful school old outdated underfunded inexperience principal. The principal is the reason why the school is 6 out of 10.He has no business being a principal since he supports.Students over teachers and teachers become burned out. Unsupported, And miserable. This then translate to your students. I worked here for a long time. And couldn't wait for the day to get out what a mess. Many fights in the assistant principles for the most part are just dumb.Teachers that have been promoted really a terrible leadership and the Large turnover clearly exemplifies how bad the leadership is.

My teacher was upset when I was wearing my mask in class and the vice principal took my mask when I was wearing it in the hall, which in my opinion is unjustified and unnecessary. Further more the school security guard went into a class I was in (my teacher said I could wear my mask) and took my other mask. I have read the school hand book and there are no rules against masks/ face coverings. This is not ok!

I was provided with a outstanding education here. I continued on earning a post graduate degree. The opportunity is there if students want it. But, like anything else I life, it takes personal dedication, and work. So, for those reviewers on here blaming the school because his or her child was failing, and they opted to send them to a charter school. Fine, do what you must as a parent. But I implore you, invest in a mirror. Education and attitude toward work ethic starts in the home.

I had a great experience at Howell High School. I had some really awesome teachers who not only cared about me as a student but as a person. This school is very big and I love how many different class options were available. I would definitely recommend this school to others!

Horrible. My student has significantly improved in her charter school and is no longer failing classes as she has plenty of help and her teachers and the school staff are timely in returning calls/emails. There are 3-4 other children from our home district in her charter school that left the same year for the same reason.

When i officially was in the 10-12 building for my sophomore year, I broke down. A majority of my teachers would not help me. They would tell me to look at my notes & figure it out myself. I would never give any teacher a hard time. I was treated very unfairly. One time a teacher told my I was "irritating & annoying" because I needed help with my project. Everyone around me was so egotistical & judgemental. I would cry everyday before & after school because I felt stupid & judged. I do not recommend this school at all. I left 3 weeks into my sophomore year to go to a charter school.

I love Howell! Most of the teachers are awesome, and always willing to go above and beyond to help their students. I always struggled trying to pick classes because there are just so many awesome choices to make. You could graduate with a pilots license, or take the medical path during highschool, and so many other great programs.

Howell High School - Howell High School Programs and staff are awesome. There is a place for everyone at Howell!! If you cannot find something you like you are not looking or listening to all the opportunities available. At the high school, there are so many different programs a student is sure to find something they like. AP Classes/Dual Enrollment, Support classes, Athletics - with No PAY TO PLAY, one of the best Performing Arts Department in the area, CAD/Cam programs, Culinary Arts, Medical Careers, Construction trades, Machines class, Pilots school, Photography and art, Marketing and Social Media - I know all these because my students have to pick classes and they want to do them all. There are clubs and activities for many different interests. The size contributes to a student being ready for real world experiences. There are just so many opportunities, the hard part is picking, and not having enough time in the day to take advantage of all the opportunities. .

Very disappointing... I remember when I was in school (a mid-sized Florida public school, then a similarly sized Chicago Parochial high school) things were radically different. We had homework we did from actual textbooks. We received graded homework in a very timely manner. We did hands on Science experiments. I see nothing but an overwhelmingly large number of printed out pages coming home. Textbooks are rarely used at all. Teachers teach "something" but it's often confusing for the students. If over half a class is doing poorly, then it's likely the teacher NOT one student. This school also profiles the wrong children. My son was giving lunch money to friends privately so as not to embarrass them. He was accused of selling drugs. Teachers openly argue with him. This demeans him, infuriates me but ultimately highlights their lack of classroom control or their lack of knowledge relating to the subject matter at hand. I have made them aware of his insecurities but the teachers still continue to berate him publicly. I am currently trying to remove my son from this toxic environment. There are quite a few good teachers but at least 3 VERY bad apples.

Howell High School is a wonderful school with dedicated educators that invest time in all of their students to encourage them to reach their full potential for a bright future! Howell High also offers a wide variety of programs that accomodate to the needs and interests of the large school. Howell is leading the way with their participation in the Reaching Higher program which gives the students life skills to reach their highest potential and be the future of our cummunity. I am very glad to be in a community that offers such great schools and resources for our children

Although there are some good teachers, most offer no extra effort to the students. Students that show signs of struggling with the classroom content are not provided with assistance, additional materials, or other forms of intervention to correct the situation. Teachers rely on posting basic information in a web-based application for parents to read - getting any form of person contact or direct meeting with a teacher is impossible. Counselors and some of the building administrators try to address situations but large caseloads inhibit the process. Central office appears to be out marketing positive sound bites about the district rather than leading any type of significant improvement effort.
