Our child completed kindergarten at GAB and we are thrilled to be headed back. The teachers, staff and parents seem engaged with all of the kids, and the principal sets a high expectation of professionalism and success. While the school building itself is a little tired, the staff make up for it in positive energy, an amazing library, and engaging classrooms where kids appear to thrive. We hope to continue another 5 great years at GAB.

Avoid this school. My son gets homework, maybe once a week. More often than not it's every other week and he can do it in less than 15 minutes. He is supposed to be in AIG classes but he's not being challenged at all. Communication from this school is weak. We missed the bus one morning which made my son remember that he was supposed to tell me that someone on the route moved so the bus schedule had changed. There was no note home, no phone call, just a "hey kid, don't forget to tell your folks." Most of the papers coming home to me are requests to buy things or offer donations. My son keeps getting in trouble for responding negatively to bullying (my son said the f-word). If they'd stop the bullying he wouldn't have to respond and wouldn't get in trouble in the first place. I recently found out two kids were suspended for climbing the school roof which apparently had easy access because of the construction going on. First off, why aren't they being supervised properly? Second, construction should really happen when school is out like during summer. I understand time constraints and costs etc but the school recently closed early because of a power outage due to the construction. Apparently, it's not safe and it interrupts the school. So get that stuff done while school is out.I usually don't complain but I really hate this school. If only we had moved a mile east we could have entered the Chapel Hill school district instead.

This my oldest Daughter's fifth year attending GAB. We love the environment and the staff. The Teacher's are wonderful and the Principal's are amazing! The afterschool program is perfect! Proud to be a Cougar!

My daughter had a great kindergarten experience and first grade is off to a good start. The communications between leadership/teachers and parents are excellent. I am very impressed with how they respond swiftly to children's needs. I am most impressed by the character building atmosphere that is fostered at GAB - it is priceless. Julie T. (parent)

My fifth grader just graduated and I am sad that he will be moving on. Thankfully I have another child still attending Grady Brown. My children have excelled there. What a great group of teachers, staff, parent group and overall community.

We have attended GAB for the past 6 years. It is a fantastic school with fabulous leadership and a wonderfully supportive community. Each year gets better. We will be sad to move on to middle school!
