I agree about poor leadership and allowing kids to misbehave. Having my kid here was a terrible experience. Would not recommend

My daughter had a very bad experience at this school. She was not challenged at all and got a 3.9 GOA without even trying. She felt that most of her teachers (other than two) were lazy, doing the absolute bare bare minimum necessary to get by. The environment of the girls basketball team is nasty and mean-spirited, and players are constantly yelled at and berated for no good reason. After an appalling incident, we brought our concerns to the attention of the principal, the school athletic director, the superintendent, and the school board. Nothing was done. We reached out to the principal with concerns about our daughter being unable to complete her first semester finals in a reasonable time frame due to missing finals week because the basketball team played in a tournament in Phoenix. His only response was to tell us it was our daughter's fault because it was her responsibility to make arrangements with her teachers. This was despite the fact that she'd been trying repeatedly to complete her exams since before leaving for Phoenix. We pulled our daughter off the team and transferred her to a school in another district.

Struggled with mental health and that awfully rude woman at the counseling desk wouldn't let me talk to a counselor. I am severely disappointed to say the least. This school preaches that it's a safe space and that you can get help if you need it, but they have let me and others down time and time again.

This school does allow kids to misbehave - parents aren't any better

One of the most bullying school in metro area. Please don’t buy their high rating- I don’t know how the fit them. Bullying is motivated in this school. Everyone should be the same, if your child is better smarter or different he will become a target and school will be supporting it. Teachers are lazy, use old techniques, more worry about what they going to be doing after work. Teachers have very old outdated way to teach, require children to sit still and if student got bored - they don’t care. Be aware and don’t buy their high rating- it’s really fake and doesn’t mean anything. Racial and cultural diversity is very bad in this school. A lot of bullying!!! In my experience lower rating school in Aurora 3 or 4 out of 10 was much more welcoming and warm and helpful and teachers were more innovative and motivated, creative and teachers and stuff really worked to give kids the best experience in learning and make kids feel comfortable at school. I’m very regret to have my kids attend this school. It was very big mistake. They more value how much money kids parents make then what potential child has. Stuff is lazy and don’t want to do anything.

Dr Page is an excellent leader. The full HS experience of great classes, teachers, an inclusive culture is alive and well here. There is variety in the classes offered, opportunities for leadership, a great theatre department and all the sports! THE Highlands Ranch High School is the high school for the most real world experience to prepare your student for the future.

Parent of three children through the school graduating 2018, 2020 and one to graduate in 2022. (The elder two are at a top liberal arts school out of state and Colorado School of Mines.)Once in a blue moon we encountered a less than stellar teacher but most were great. Very strong arts/music/theater program. Very strong speech and debate. The leadership team (especially Dr. Page, the Principal) is outstanding.

HRHS is a fantastic high school! Both my kids attended/ attend through open enrollment because it's the school they both wanted to attend. The teachers and staff are wonderful. Like any school there are a few teachers that I personally feel might need too retire however the great ones far out way the handful of not so good ones. HRHS has a phenomenal performing arts program and are very good with IEP's. I would definitely recommend HRHS!

We've had two students at HRHS for a total of 7 years, and it has been a great experience for our family! Our oldest just finished her third year of college. Her education at HRHS definitely prepared her for college - she's had straight As all three years! Our son just graduated and we are so appreciative of his teachers' efforts during this unexpected time of remote learning. These teachers care about their students and it shows. We've especially enjoyed the band program where our kids found a "family" to belong to at the high school.

I’ve had 3 kids go through highlands ranch. All with different social and academic expectations and all fit exactly what they needed. Overall great experiences.

I’m glad that we live in this area. I know my kids will be successful due to this school.

I transferred to HRHS halfway through my junior year of high school after being bullied at my previous high school. Everyone warned me that it was going to be worse because of the area that it is located in. On the contrary, I was immediately accepted. For the first time I felt like I fit in and I could participate in extracurriculars and that I was valued as a part of the student body. Sure, there will always be mean kids but here there was a balance. They also value the arts more than most other public schools. They had a fabulous drama department and wonderful studio art program where the teachers cared about your success. I would recommend HRHS to anyone who asked but especially to kids who have had some trouble fitting in.

HRHS is our neighborhood school, but we considered open enrolling at Rock Canyon, Arapahoe and even private options Valor and Regis. After speaking to parents who had kids in all of the above, and meeting with administrators and teachers at Ranch, we decided to enroll our children at HRHS. Now a couple of years in, we could not be more pleased and impressed. Some of the most experienced and involved teachers in the district and a principal that is second to none.
