I have had three children attend Heritage Elementary over the past 13 years and I have been so very impressed with the education and experience our family has had. The community feel is so welcoming and inclusive, the PTO continually offers events that bring the families, teachers and students together. It is a top-notch school in Highlands Ranch!

I have 2 children who are going to Heritage Elementary School in Highlands Ranch. Heritage elementary is an amazing school to be a part of! The teacher retention rate is phenomenal, and the kids feel loved and supported. They tailor teaching to kids at their own level. I also love the PTO. Both the school and PTO are very receptive to new ideas and empowering the parents to help make this school one of a kind!

This school has been a wonderful place for both of my children. The teachers and staff are fantastic and engaged with the students. The school strives to make sure there is growth at every level.

Our family has been so pleased with Heritage. We are open-enrolled, as many families here are. The level of instruction has been top-notch. The staff is so welcoming and we have had the opportunity to meet so many families through their PTO and school events. We have also been very impressed with the Social Emotional curriculum, having younger kids that missed out on preschool and other traditional socialization as toddlers due to COVID-19, we feel this has been critical to our kid's success in building friendships and feeling secure & safe at school. Last year our AMAZING principal retired and I was a little nervous about how the transition would happen with our new principal, but it has been seamless. We are so happy with our choice to attend Heritage.

The teachers and programs at this school have been nothing short of amazing. The staff truly cares about my kids and their educational success. We moved from our of state and our expectations were pretty high since my kids came from private education before they started at Heritage. But we were blown away after their first year attending school here. We also have a child on an IEP and the services received from his Heritage special educators is even better than when we lived out of state. My family and I are so thankful for this wonderful school and it's dedicated staff.

This school falls far below expectations for Douglas County

Very happy with the community at Heritage. I am very happy with the education and opportunities my kids are receiving. As a parent, I love the open communication and follow-through from my kids' teachers.

We've found some great programs and some great teachers in our couple years at Heritage. Unfortunately the negative SIGNIFICANTLY outweighs the positive and there are some very toxic situations within the school. I would warn anyone that the social emotional health of this school is very lacking and suggest checking out neighboring schools like Summit View where we are looking to transfer.

As a parent you have to take full ownership in being an active advocate for your child at this school. The school lacks sincere personalized learning for those not meeting expectations. Outside supplemental resources (tutoring) will likely be necessary to help your child. Very disappointed.

This school did both of my children a huge disservice. I saw one child on the edge of grade level receive every service available to help keep up the schools scores. When one child dropped further behind grade level, the assistance dropped off. They weren’t sure what to work on, they thought setting goals was ineffective and a really well behaved kid fell through the cracks because it was far easier to ignore. A few great teachers are tucked into the folds, but the truely ineffective teachers continue on. One of our teachers spent an entire conference looking for a pencil. Neither child experienced science or social studies or any in depth topic that built a passion for learning. One of the most concerning parts for me was the low level of executive function expected of the children. Preparation for junior high is extremely lacking.

We moved here from out-of-state and were coming from an incredible school, so we started out the year skeptical. Heritage has proven to be just as worthy of praise as the school we came from. They have tons of activities and the whole school feels like a tight knit community. They have so many options for learning and provide opportunities to experience everything from computer programming to caring for chickens! I have two children attending and I'm really looking forward to having both my children educated at Heritage.

I have two kids at Heritage. I am extremely pleased with the academics. Having just moved into the district I am amazed at the resources and opportunities available to my kids. Every student second grade and up is provided a chromebook by the school and kindergarteners and first graders have iPads. My kindergartner learned to code! I also love that the school has a garden and chickens. My kids make a point to visit the school to see the chickens even when we are on break. So far we have had amazing teachers and have loved getting meet the families. Had reservations about Highlands Ranch schools, but so glad we made the move... no regrets!

We had a very caring first year with Ms McIntosh. she did such a fantastic job! there were a couple of lil bumps with another student along the way which is why we rated it only 4stars. Hopefully next year it'll be a 5star scoring.

Heritage Elementary is a great place to work. I also have children at the school and am pleased with the education that they are receiving! The opportunities that students have to explore their passions are remarkable.

Heritage is a wonderful School. As a parent and an employee I feel very confident in the education that my children are receiving. My children are above their grade level in learning and the communication between teachers and parents is excellent. The Principle and Vice Principle are wonderful.

We love our teachers at Heritage. As with most schools, you have a few that are questionable but Heritage also has some superstars teaching our students. Our interim principal is doing a great job under unusual circumstances and is somewhat more efficient in handling student issues than the outgoing principal was. However, I do not completely agree with the previous post. Douglas County has some awesome teachers but their hands are tied behind their backs and the schools are having issues because of bad decisions being made by the Douglas County Board of Education. Do your homework, talk to people in the community, search the net, attend a board meeting BEFORE you enroll your child(ren) in any Douglas County School.

Wonderful teachers and programs. Douglas county has great schools and this is the best! I have 5 children and they have all loved Heritage. We have a great principle and friendly staff. Not only have my children done well in academics, they have also learned responsibility in a secure environment.

Heritage is a wonderful school. The past 2 years the atmosphere and general feeling has taken such an upswing. We finally have a principal who encourages parental interaction and welcomes feedback. Is he ever going to please every family? No. We don't live in a perfect world. I have 2 children, one in fifth and one in third. One high level (close to GT) and one on an IEP, this school does a great job servicing both of them. The front office staff are wonderful. The EA's care about the kids and many will go out of their way and above and beyond what is required of their job. I am proud to have my children attend Heritage.

After four years at this school, we have finally decided that enough is enough. My children are not getting a good education here. The teachers for the most part are decent. However, there is such a lack of communication at this school, I can hardly believe it. I have no idea what my children are learning and I AM a very involved parent. The math curriculum is absolutely horrible and will not prepare my kids for the future. If the goal is to confuse children, then they are doing a magnificent job. When the new principal came we thought that the school would turn around. However, we figured out his true agenda when we had a meeting with him. My kids will not be indoctrinated anymore.
