Ten years ago, my family stumbled upon Wesleyan and I am forever grateful that we did. During a very difficult time in our family's life, this school community wrapped its arms around us and literally carried us forward. While there may be a few exceptions, the teachers are loving, caring and determined to see their students succeed in academics and use their giftings. Wesleyan has gained a reputation for great sports, but it is so much more than that. If you are looking for a school where students are still held to high standards and the adults are expected to model them, do yourself a favor and check Wesleyan out.

It breaks my heart to know that schools like this are still permitted to exist. Being queer at Wesleyan means constantly looking over your shoulder, living in fear of the consequences of what will happen to you should anyone find out. Not only will other students single you out and reject you because of the homophobic conditioning of this school, the staff will actually support this behavior and tell you that self acceptance is allowing “satan to whisper in your ear” (an actual thing that was said to me). Queer kids are important and should feel celebrated and safe around their adults and peers, not rejected and humiliated. I know so many people I graduated with that were too scared to confront who they actually were until they left this horrible place. Thinking about how many children still live in fear at wesleyan, like I did, is not something I like to dwell on….they also use the Bible to promote misogyny and rape culture, telling girls that they need to “cover their bodies in order to protect their brothers in Christ from stumbling”. We were forced to watch videos of abortions in high school, yet they refuse to teach students about the reproductive system in anatomy class??? Don’t spend thousands of dollars to send your child to this school, because all they will get is lifelong trauma they will later have to go to therapy for if they want to have any semblance of self love. And don’t get me started on the lack of diversity and blatant racism either. There were a couple of sweet teachers who felt safe to confide in but they have long since gotten out of this hell hole. Good for them. Schools like this should be shut down. If Jesus came down from heaven and saw this place today I have no doubt he’d handle it like the Pharisees.

Wesleyan is the top private school in the Triad because of their commitment to a Christ-centered education that is tailored to the needs of each individual student. Having 2 boys who started at Wesleyan in Kindergarten, I can tell you that the quality of instruction and access to educational experiences are second to none. The new head of school is a phenomenal leader who values the growth of each and every child that walks through the door each day. The extra curricular opportunities at Wesleyan are also phenomenal, whether it be athletics or the arts. There’s something for every child and it’s so refreshing in comparison to the one size fits allApproach that public schools have morphed into.

Wesleyan Christian Academy is a very special place indeed! My son started in 2020 in the transitional kindergarten program and what a blessing that was for our family. During such a crazy time in our world, Wesleyan was a steadfast safe haven for my son. That year set him on a path of loving school and learning! He is very smart but needed that year to "transition" into a more structed classroom environment. My daughter is in the TK program now and growing everyday! We are so blessed to be in an environment where the students are individually seen and LOVED by the faculty, staff, and leadership team. I know that my kids are not only getting a high quality education but more importantly they are being taught that they are a beloved child of GOD! I cannot recommend Wesleyan Christian Academy enough!

Having a student at Wesleyan Christian Academy for 10 years has been a huge blessing. The class sizes are just the right size to meet all my child's needs. The teachers have been caring, attentive and loving. I would highly recommend this school.

I originally selected WCA for its enrichment program because my youngest is severely dyslexic and my oldest had to move schools by default. The change in my oldest was even more profound than with my youngest! This school has truly been the biggest blessing for my children. All of their teachers along with the administration have been fully supportive and helpful even when my children require disciple. My children are loved but challenged in all areas- high academic standards and high character standards.

Wesleyan Christian Academy is a GREAT place to put down roots. I have one child that has graduated from WCA and three more that are current students. The curriculum is Bible-based, the teachers are passionate and insightful, the administration genuinely cares about our kiddos and the coaches have high expectations and speak truth! The atmosphere of the school is high energy and supportive. We are family.

I am a former student who has now graduated and my experience has been awful, the blatant racism and sexist remarks from staff and students is in creditable, I attended the enrichment part of the school and was bullied relentlessly. Wesleyan has showed me nothing but how Christian love is. It’s hateful.

I have 3 children at Wesleyan currently. My daughter is graduating this year and she has been attending this school since Pre K. I HIGHLY recommend this school. My daughter has received so many opportunities for growth, and college, it is unreal! The teachers truly care about the well being of their students. I am not a college graduate myself and needed a LOT of help and support during this whole process and one teacher took my daughter under her wing and helped her with it all. It it not a perfect school but there isnt such thing. They have helped me financially and they have been there for my children good and bad, and yes there has been some bad... I think all kids test the waters a little. I am so thankful for so many of the teachers at this school for helping my family through the good and the hard times. If there were extra stars that I could give Wesleyan I would! My senior has really developed and came into herself and learned to be great here! My son who is now in 7th at times struggles a little in school and the teachers care so much and really help and my other daughter who is in K1 has thrived there. We moved 46 minutes away 4 years ago and still chose to make the drive. If you are looking for the PERFECT school in the High Point/Greensboro/Winston Salem area CHOOSE WESLEYAN!

This is NOT a God-centered school. They were an absolute blessing in the very beginning when my child was a baby and Miss Joellyn was there. But she left. All of the good teachers have been leaving left and right. It’s gone downhill since then. The new director is extremely intense and aggressive. She talks over you and won’t hear you. They spend all of their income on marketing, because that what this school is truly all about. Money and looks. That’s it. I pray they get better. But they are petty and will traumatize you and your child over something super simple and easy to address. It’s sickening. They simply do not care about you. They don’t care about anyone but themselves. They create and escalate problems. As an advocate for your child, if you ask them any questions about things that come up, they walk you in exhausting circles, roll their eyes at you, and act like they just can’t be bothered. They make EVERYTHING into a HUGE deal and try to make it look like you’re the problem. There is absolutely no accountability. They don’t know how to handle conflict. No one knows the rules and the school has been increasingly more challenging. They treat the parents horribly and have the attitude that the staff can treat the parent however they want but that the parent (also the customer essentially) must be very careful in how they talk to staff and expect the parent to endure verbal abuse. If the parent calls them out, they are petty and treat them as disposable trash. After all, there is a long wait list on account of their marketing efforts. You're disposable. Unless you’re able to prove that you’re very, very rich. Then, it’s a different story. The school has become a fake Christian school. They have no idea how to run a school, how to keep staff, and walk the path Christ laid out. They will ignore you. They will “pray” for you after insulting you. It’s a very snobby and degrading school. Very toxic. I have been absolutely shocked at my experience here. This school is absolutely horrible. Also, someone keeps deleting the bad reviews people leave them. Not sure how they’re doing it, but the amount of emotional trauma this school has caused me and my family gives me the endurance to ensure it stays up.

Best decision we have made for our children

WESLEYAN IS AN EXCELLENT SCHOOL! The negative reviews are contrary to my family's experience and my observations as an educator. My kids were ignored in public school because they were "good kids" and tested well - at WCA, they've experienced REAL learning beyond the tested math and reading subjects in history, geography, art, music, literature, & science because their teachers aren't focused on standardized tests. Both of my kids scored well on standardized tests, but since moving to WCA they've scored higher (in the 90-99th percentiles) and I contribute this to their learning and removal of high stakes for school AYP. In terms of academics, sports, arts, and drama, the smartest thing that we did for our kids was to get them into WCA (but it isn't cheap). Some kids commute almost 2 hours daily to get to and from WCA. The character building in EVERYTHING they do is wonderful. My kids WANT to make a difference in this world and WCA is preparing them both academically and spiritually while encouraging them to discover what that means for them. If you can get your kids into WCA, do it because you will be amazed by the difference that a quality school can make in your kids.

This is an amazing school that I am very thankful I was able to attend. I have since graduated, but I would not trade my time at WCA for any other school!

I am a relative of some Wesleyan students. I wrote an unflattering review about this school. It got removed from this site. Do your research before enrolling. Check what colleges graduates go to. Ask to see the grading curves for all classes your children will attend. Look carefully to see evidence of grade inflation (It is possible - and not unusual - to score over 100% on final exams and papers?!) Good luck.

I am a former student and I do have to say as far as academics, sports, and child care goes this school has it together. They push you to your full potential and are genuinely interested in watching you succeed. My only but very important concern is that they do not have a hold on bullying. This is something that I saw a lot of and experienced all too well first hand. Looking back I greatly regret not leaving for this reason alone.

I have a daughter in first grade, she also went to kindergarten at WCA. The entire staff at this school gets it. Everyone is genuinely friendly and caring. This school is worth every penny for you to be able to go to work and not worry about your child's safety or surroundings. Most kids act polite, but the ones that don't get corrected immediately.FYI that doesnt happen in public school, not because they don't care, but there hands are tied. There is not an elitist attitude because its a private school, they can talk about God, and that provides a solid foundation forv your child for the rest of there lives. It is expensive, but what else is worth more than your children.

My daughter had a severe learning disability when she enrolled in the Enrichment Center in the 6th grade. She is graduating as one of the top 10 students in her high school graduating class and is planning to attend NC State school of design this coming fall, need I say more! Very very pleased and worth every penny !

This is a good school and our kids have attended since kindergarten. The academics are excellent; however, if your child wants to play basketball on the high school level, go somewhere else. They import top players starting in the 9th and 10th grades and your kids will be left passing out towels. Just WIN BABY WIN? Apparently so.

This is an excellent school. My son graduated from there and so will his children. Excellent balance between academics, athletics, art and college prep. The teachers care and put forth a great Christian example. This is a 5 star school...
