St. Joseph's School (SJS) is an awesome school. We have two boys and they have been attending SJS since kindergarten. We had looked at the other Catholic Schools in Fremont and we felt that SJS had to most to offer: a challenging education, a friendly family atmosphere, and a safe school environment.

We are a very academic oriented family. It took us a long time, looking for private schools, to find St. Joseph's and it has far exceeded our expectations. We thought it was good academically, on par with good public schools, but expected to provide a lot of academic supplement to our son. Well, it is not just "good" it is much better then local public schools and equal or better then the best private schools in the bay area. That surprised us a lot. Our son is thriving and years ahead academically with zero pressure. It was obvious that the parent community was very warm, involved, and caring but it has turned out to be much more then that. My son's friends, friends families, and many staff have become part of his family. His relationship with peers is more like sister/brother. A big part of what drew us to St. Joseph's was the school campus. It is located right at the base of Mission Hills and surrounded by acres of rolling greenery, the historic Mission, and olive groves. Students often visit the huge nature campus next door (historical convent grounds) to play, go for walks, have contemplation, exercise, and special events. If you are strongly academic but also understand that love, character development, empathy, relationship, and nature are absolutely key to child development then come and get to know our school.

As an alumni, and now my kids are attending the school, I have no complaints whatsoever with them. This school has continued to improve since my days there. They give my children a sense of community and a solid foundation of life. This school is a very well rounded academia and I highly encourage that you take a look at them. You don't have to be catholic to attend, I've went to Catholic schools all my life and never became one. It's more on their basis of teaching and guidance that sets them apart. Tuition is also very competitive and you're not paying an arm and leg such as Strattford or Challenger. Although those schools are highly focused on academics, it doesn't mean they excel in teaching your kids the street smarts and morals/ethics that's necessary to survive in the real world.

Best school in Fremont hands down. Active hands on curriculum and tons of enriching learning activities for the kids. Lots of service. High empathy. Most dedicated staff I've ever encountered. Test scores higher then Palo Alto, significantly higher then Fremont. A hidden gem. Our family couldn't be happier.

This is unfortunately your substandard private school that lack strong accountability and leadership. Teachers aren't all credentialed and they lack skills in basic classroom behavior management. They then turn it on the students as having behavior issues rather than look at their sub par teaching or management. Not exactly what they advertise as "high quality education." Technology access is better in public schools. Principal isn't knowledgeable either. Parent community is nice for Catholic private school, and that's the positive aspect of it. But that doesn't define high quality education within classroom of teachers that aren't skilled enough to teach kids with different learning styles.

My kids have attended St Joseph's in Fremont since K and have loved every minute of it. We are so grateful for the positive reinforcement of the values we have at home, at school. My kids are loving, respectful, thoughtful young ladies who are not only smart academically but aware socially. Not only does SJS teach academics (in alignment with common core) but they also value community and helping others which are characteristics we believe are important to shaping the whole person my kids are becoming. They remind me everyday of why we love St. Josephs and all the teachers and the community we are becoming a part of, as a family. All the families have the same goal--the whole child. Our children.

If you can respect and support all teachers that are being trained and integrating the new common core standards which are Singapore based and match/mirror real life examples and critical thinking needed in high tech firms... If you believe in making this world a better place and are not pressured by 'the race to nowhere'... If you want your child to enjoy their childhood in a safe, respectful, open-minded, loving, compassionate and Christian faith filled community...A place where they develop into community leaders... A place where they can be kids and play... A place we call 'Home'. A place where kids are valued, encouraged to discover, develop, share their gifts, talents, spirits and creativity. A place where Everybody Matters. A place that defines success by the way we touch the lives of all people. A place that will help your child and your family serve others. St. Joseph does a great job of having a high level of academic excellence, without the high pressure. Also, while compassionately encompassing Jesus and the Church into their daily activities. I feel safe and secure that my child goes to St. Joseph School.

My child has been at St Joseph since Kindergarten and is now in Junior High. He has done really well academically and is involved in extra-curricular activities such as basketball, volleyball, ecology, etc. St. Joseph has a connection that makes us feel that we are part of the community. It is a blessing to be a part of such a family that shares the same love and commitment as we do.

I am the parent of a first grade student and I cannot say enough good things about St. Joseph. My son is receiving an excellent education from a very caring and knowledgeable staff. He loves to share the new words he learned in Spanish and the new songs he is singing in Music. I love that he can talk with me about God and recite prayers with me at night. If you are looking for a well-rounded education and a school that will build your child's self-confidence, then St. Joseph is the school for your family.

St Joseph is a private school. So parents pay a tuition fee. All along the year, parents are expected to donate for several fundraisers, volunteer or pay more. Academics are just ok, not excellent. They have good music classes. But not much else for extracurricular programs. After school care is below average. Consider other good public schools in the area.
